Sony a6400 Hands-on Review
Ғылым және технология
It has a tilty-flippy screen that flips slap bang into a hot-shoe-mounted mic but there's more to the a6400 than just a 'vlogging' camera.

Add a little thick M3 tape between the screen and the mic, this will probably dampen the sound.

Man, this SOB has guided so much of my journey through photography it's almost unfair. Keep up the banter, it's what keeps us level baby. Rockin' that a6400 now and naturally I feel a strong vibe to start a vlog. Wild.
Hilarious. Informative. Honest. Entertaining. Spontaneous. Critical. Flattering. One of the best reviews I’ve seen. Congrats!

If there is one camera review place that I come for unbiased and genuine review, it’s this channel of yours Kai 👍🏼
Dude, you are so fun and engaging to watch and listen to while being properly informative in a precise and yet such laid back manner.
This is the best blend of dry humour and educational content for cameras. I’m subscribed!

Awesome review, Kai! The cage is a brilliant idea.
Kai, you're the first I've seen to mention using the cage. I'm going to pick up both now as soon as I can! Thank you.
that cage info really helps out! no reviewer ever have that idea! THANKS!
The review that I’ve been waiting for!!! 💕💕💕
Dang, I've been watching your videos since I got into photography. Surprised you're not in the millions already tbh. appreciate your review👊
Thank you for the thorough review Kai!
Btw thank you for introducing me to Birocratic all those videos ago. I really love the tracks you use from them.
I'm not sure if I'm more entertained by the camera or Lok. The guy cracks me up.

I'm about to buy an a6400 and just discovered you even though I've heard fellow film geeks mention you before. Dude, you're HILARIOUS!
I recently purchased the a6400, I love it. Love it so much I made a video about my first week with it. Great review, Jeremy. lol
Another video with wit, style, information & fun!😀👍
Kai W caught out in the wild. A rare sight indeed!
Awesome video dude. not only very informative but also a blast to watch.
Kai.... Where did you get that jacket from @ 9:17? That joint is fresh!!!!!
Kai stepping up the swag tho🔥🙌🏽😂
love the review, you always take us to interesting places. and that rig a good idea that everyone should take about
Great idea on the cage Kai. I usually always get a cage, I have one sitting on my shelf right now for the a6500, but I could always get screw and adapt it to the bottom of the mic to mount it on the right side.
Kai W görüşlerine değer verdiğimiz ve yakından takip ettiğimiz bir abimizdir.
Thank you finally, someone, out there who thinks the cage is the best I have been saying from launch day just use a cage every time someone complains about there mic or using some weird contraption. Great video.
I don’t understand, I have the G9 and I don’t get wobble in my frame . I use the 8-18 Panasonic Leica. What lens are you using?
Kai really pumping out that content. You know people really underestimate the flippy screen, really glad to see it on the 6400
I was searching for info on the a6400 and was quite happy to see a Kai W video near the top of my search results. Great review. I think the a6400 will do what I want it to do but the image stabilization is definitely lacking for walking type video.
Great video as always, Lok
I LOVE YOUR HUMOR
I salute your river fording skills Lok!
So cool and really pro reviews u make!
I can hear some Birocratic in there!! Excellent!
I think the missing stepping stone is a metaphor for choosing camera equipment! You get out in the middle of the practice of photography, and you take pause...then you have to take a chance to keep going. And in the end you get bogged down (the mud...) but you have to keep going. The A6400 seems like a good choice for those of us using something like the A6000, which lacks the quick and sticky AF. If you have lenses with OSS then you can excuse the lack of IBIS. But I am just an amateur...without deep pockets! And the cage idea is brilliant!
3:22 you can hear noises when you move and touch the handle
Saw your first video , it forced me to subscribe your channel. amazing work
Man you're hilarious. Great personality to your videos, keep it up

"A camera is more than just seeing your face on the screen" - yes sir!
Always getting very useful info from you! Are you planning to come to CP+ 2019 in Japan?
I don’t need a new camera, don’t really care about vlogging gear, but I like Kai
What is the best camera for vlogging with a flip up screen? I currently have the RX100 III and looking to upgrade.. don’t really like the look of the “jello” effect on this one..
Another a6400 review. Thanks
I just bought this camera I'm so happy and love it.
Great review, love how you started with actual footage. Makes it so much more valuable than just listing specs :) Would love to test this camera out in Amsterdam!
great review! I am thinking about purchasing this camera for vlogging my travels as well as being a great stills camera. Quick question though, how big of a difference would an optically stabilized lens make to the stability of video? Any thoughts?
Amazing as always man :-)
Kai... respect you.
Since you are very credible and have actually used both cameras, what’s your honest opinion between Sony A6400 and the Fugi xt30? Both in photo and video.... oh and btw great review and channel!
You should be a stand-up comedian. Great eloquence. The best part is at the end, while crossing the river. I almost thought, he is going to actually fall to demonstrate that A6400 is weather-sealed. LOL!
The mic slapping you in the face is so funny. You are combining humor and facts so damn well! I don't like the fact that when this came out so many people value the camera after it's vlogging capabilities. That's just wrong. Thanks for sharing more than other on this camera. For a person new to photography most videos just are so negative and basically tell you that you need IBIS and a flip screen, I bet it's really misleading to amateurs. Also I had to pause at 8:58 and wipe something up real quick.

@@VMKAROUND365 well, say you are a small company wanting to film a whole press event which is longer then 30 Minutes, that would be one scenario. The question is, if the batteries hold out that long. Then again, you can allways power it via a bigger battery pack.

@@VMKAROUND365 I need to record longer than 30 min. because I'm doing sit down interviews (with noone behind the camera). I have a Sony a7Rii, but I can't use it for my video purpose with the recording limit and no tilt up screen so I can see, if I am in frame (most important when vlogging - not for the interviews...).
@TheLokCheung

That will be much help for Boke Bros. Kai had no problem filming Boke Bros with his GH5, but I always need to set a 28mins timer just so that we could finish off what we were talking and let me restart my recording on my a7SII, before it stop at 30mins

Hey Kai - currently filming on a sony a7 - its major drawback is that it doesn't capture 4k. I am currently thinking upgrading to either the a6400 or the a7ii ... what are your thoughts?
Good review Kai.

I use my A6400 in tandem with the A6500 as a two camera still photography setup most often with a different focal length prime lens on each camera. No sweat on lack of IBIS with the A6400 because I have IBIS in the A6500. I am a great fan of vintage lenses for the remarkably creative renditions that these old lenses offer. However, on most of my model shoots, I have promised images to the models, most often for their portfolios. Here's where 2-cameras really shine. I can use a vintage lens (like the Helios 58mm f/2.0) on one camera to get creative effects and a modern lens, like the Sony 85mm f/1.8 or Sony 50mm f/1.8 OSS, on the second camera. That way I will be sure to get a combination of creative and technically excellent images...
Panasonic needs to give you an S1 and/or S1R for review!!
Top video Kai.
I finally found Loks personal channel. Weirdly its named Kai
Love that it is a brilliant stills camera but would love anything longer than a 210mm E mount lens to use it for some entry level wildlife and sports. I have the 100-400 FE mount so I suppose could use that but love that on the A7iii. Anyone know if the will be releasing longer e-mount lenses anytime soon? Or is the rumour that they will eventually move all cameras to full frame more true?
Your latest videos are much better. I prefer sarcasm to comedy and it seems you have a bit more of an edge to your reviews. Keep it up!
You see, auto focus on GH5 is absolutely perfect... It solved problem of focus hunting by focusing strictly on the background.

Quick face/eye AF is important for me though I don't do vlogs or selfie. But it's battery-consuming, yes very much so. Yet Sony Alpha still remains one of my favourites. 🐥🐥❤️
