Ok, Sony added features to their website for the a6100 since I filmed this video. The a6100 does have interval shooting. What I didn't notice though is that it lacks picture profiles in video mode which means anybody who wants to use APS-C professionally will need the a6400 or higher.

Do you think is possible to set a picture profile in manual photo mode and then press the record button? Will it work for video? Or they removed all the picture profiles completely?

@@francescomanfredi A workaround is using the Sony 'standard' creative profile and turning down the contrast and saturation to get a flatter image/video that you can color grade later on in post.

That just have changed. At the time I recorded this there was a record limit stated on Sony's website and in BHPhoto.

Purchased the A6400 kit and received a 55-210mm lens for free, as well, just learning to use the camera. It was $1700.00 Canadian when it was all said and done. What is the protection screen called that you have? I love the video.

I couldn't agree more with the comment about lenses at the end. I find myself more drawn towards the more expensive models, but then I would have less money left over for good glass. Definitely worth compromising at times to have more money towards glass , especially when it's at least a $200 difference. My first mirrorless was one of the earlier m4/3 , 12mp cameras and I was actually able to get some amazing shots because I put money into higher quality lenses.

I like how crispy and clear you look. Nice, vibrant video.

Yeah it’s definitely a green screen. The “couch” fabric doesn’t move at all when he moves

Which one is good a6300 or a6100 ?

I believe unlike the magnesium a6400, the a6100 is basically a plastic body that has no water proofing.

Jerad - In this video you said that their is a 30 min. recording limit. That seems to be conflicting with the information I have seen on this camera. I'm about to buy this camera based on how long I can record video. I also called a camera store and they told me that this camera can indeed make videos longer then the 30 min limit just like the A6400 . Here is what they said over at ( imaging-resource.com) "One of the big upgrades is that the A6100, like the recent A6600 and A6400, offers unlimited video recording time instead of the usual 29min, 59sec limit. This makes the A6100 much more appealing and useful as a long-form video recording camera."

I was quite underwhelmed with the Sony "Dog and Pony Show" this morning... The A6100 and A6600 are not that much cheaper (A6100) or better (A6600) than the A6400. I shoot with a tandem of A6500 and A6400 and don't plan to switch...

There's no recording limit on a6100.

Interval Recording2 (1-60-second interval, 1-9,999 shots, AE lock/AE tracking (High/Mid/Low)) is listed in the official specs of a6100.

Sony always does 1:1 and 2:1 pixel mapping for focus magnification on the EVF. The tiny difference between 1024x768 and 800x600 Is not really noticeable.

If the evf is the same as the a6000 it is very fatiguing for the eyes if you plan to use it a lot for focusing vintage lenses, it’s not only the resolution but also the refresh rate that matters.

Hi... I am on the verge of purchasing a new camera... Was going to be the a6400... But there are so many... I was going to try and stretch the budget to the a6600 but for that price I might as well go full frame and get the a7iii... A full review on them all would be greatly appreciated... Especially if I can get everything I need in the a6100

You mean as a B cam? I'd say yes. I love my A6400 and decided to pick up an A6100 as my B Cam.

The difference is I bought a 6100 with 3 lenses for the price of a 6400 with 1 lense

@@suededemon3827let me put it this way. I had a very low budget this deal gave me all I could have asked for and afforded at the time. I've had the camera for 3 months now and the only thing I wish I could have bought is a lens better for product photography, such as a macro lens. Other than that I have had alot of complements on my photos. My dream is to work towards the A7iii or its predecessor someday. Though that a9 is pretty bad ass too! Haha

Seems interesting to me. If I didn't have an A6400 already I might be considering the A6600. I'm definitely considering the 70-300! That and my Sigma primes makes for a good kit in my book!

I've got an A6000, been "feeling" I need to update to A6400, but is image quality, ISO a good improvement? I think they all have the same sensor, so not sure if it's worth to update.

Jaime Alberto Burciaga Duarte well, he mentions in the video that the ISO is almost doubled so to me that’s a winner right there. I feel limited when shooting with the A6000 in low light situations , so that’s a plus for me :)

Very informative review and great breakdown of what the differences are.

I would love a compact Sony APSC Camera, but I have the Sony A7RIV which I also often use in APSC-mode with 26 megapixels, and I am used to the 5.8 mega dot EVF (which are a lot better then the 3.7 mega dots EVF in the Sony A7RIII I had before the A7RIV, so if I was going to have a APSC Camera the EVF should be at least 5.8 mega dots and the sensor with 30+ megapixel which may come now when Fuji have two APSC Cameras with 40 megapixels sensor.

Is the 6100 limited at 30 minutes recording?

No, it's awesome for a kit lens. Sharper than the 16-50, better OSS than the 16-50, and both smaller & lighter than the 18-105 (which isn't even a kit lens) and also has a further reach.

And there is more.... the kit offerings are totally different. No 18-135 for the a6100.

So Sony have totally CRIPPLED the A6100, to charge a lower price but no one seems to call it as it is? 50mb/s in 4K is a joke... Even the Osmo action shoots 4K @ 100mb/s

I alluded to the fact that it could possibly be something that they did in the software so that people who needed higher bit rates would go with the a6400. I'm just not in the business of sensationalizing every little thing that a company does.

I was betwwn a6400 and rx100 mvii. I've tried both and I actually didn't mind the size of a6400 with it's kit lens and loved image way better on it. So I chose a6400. Rx100 vii is small but real fast and sharp but I just never liked the image I was seeing! I debated for a long time.

Dainty ReSa last time I bought a DSLR I did think the same way, more or less that it wasn’t that “bulky” But I ended up not bringing it with me most of the time and just use the iPhone . The RX100 VII feels like the size that you could always bring. But paying that much and then not being able to switch glas..

The a6400 has the same processor and AF system from the $4500 a9. It blows the RX and M6 away. That alone is reason to buy the a6400.

Who buys APS-C lenses? Sony, unlike Canon and the others, smartly has one mount, the E mount. All the same lenses that work on the full frame Sonys work just as well on their APS-C camera. I have the Sony FE 85 f/1.8 and the Sony FE 50 f/1.8 and both work perfectly on my a7iii and a6400.

It will take going hands on with both cameras to know this for sure. Everything as far as the specs go would suggest that it is the same.

Def subscribed and im super nee to cameras. Love the quality of video so something ill probably get down the line. Content videos i would be doing is comic books and conventions. I appreciate the intel and im very suprised you dont work for sony! #godlycomics on instagram

OMG this is clearly crippled!!! also a6400 is crippled.. you cant touch focus on the imagine edge mobile app!!. but in a5100 you can, its stupid.
