Mike, how’s the active stabilization for video?

on the A7S3 the stabilization is really good, but you can only use it in 4k 24fps. Not shooting without it now.

Great video, but just a correction: the A1 does have stabilization in 8K, it's just not the Active Stabilization. And the A1 in S35 mode is 🔥! Both amazing cameras, though.

Nice video, you forgot to mention that you can use the A1 in S35 mode in 4K, which is a big advantage when you are shooting with primes 😉. In top of that you can add the clear image zoom function!

@JZBZACK i shoot all my video with the fx3 and I love it so much. On hybrid shooting days I'll bring the a1 but the fx3 is superior for video. The low-light is much better than the a1

@@wfdmedic770 Awesome thanks for your response. Planning to use it as a b-cam, and as my main camera for KZread. I do a lot of outdoor shoots in Texas, and my A1 usually overheats - hoping the fans in the FX3 fix that.

Have you tried night sky landscapes for both? Astro photography? I'm litterally torn between both your cameras and debating the A1 as a solution, but from what I see the low light is really something on the S3... But would like to take landscapes and also some sports photos where I will need to crop here and there.... this is where the 12mp may bother me. But the high mp may ruin my life with noise when using higher iso capturing galaxies and night skies 🙈

@@augustusmaximus891 Well I considered switching to the A1 but the budget was an issue. Plus, I like to have redundancy in my cameras in case one gets damaged. For the last month, I've been running an experiment. I only shoot with S3 (photo and video) and so far (2 500 photos) I'm very very happy. The rare cases I needed more resolution, I used "Super-resolution" in lightroom and it worked like magic. You just have to be mindful of your composition. There are still occasion where I prioritize the megapixel - A7R (studio work and product photography) but other wise, the S3 is a fantastic hybrid in my opinion.

@@mensiphotography Thanks for the reply, and agreed budget is an issue... ! If I use the A7S3 to capture a bright bay with details from far away, as long as I frame my shot when taking it, it will be fine I guess. And if i need to crop into that shot, I should just be mindful when taking it and use the appropriate lens in the first place right? I am new to photography but absoarbing alot of info all the time (it's a rabbit hole!). For arguments sake, if I took an astrophotography of the milky way with an A1 or A7R iv, and had noise in the photo, I can correct this in lightroom I guess, to a point. And at the same time, in theory, I might have captured more "small" stars zoomed into the picture? Or The A7Siii would capture more stars because of less noise blocking those stars? Just not being able to zoom into them in post.. I wish I had both to litterally take both shots and compare on a new moon haha. 🌚 Enjoy 😁

They’re both e-mount so lens compatibility is the same. Portability is also basically the same as they’re the same body for the most part tho the A1 is heavier. I would chose A7SIII for video as it has better low light, and has the same video specs as A1 other than 8k. I think 8k is niche rn but it might be useful in the future so if you want a camera that will last you 10 years and take sharper photos, get the A1. A7SIII is definitely more value for money if you’re just filming video tho

Great video, but for future videos wanted to suggest lowering the volume of your music track and narrating a little more clearly or compressing the dynamics of your voice track as on my iPhone 12 Pro it was very hard to make out some of what you were saying. Otherwise very helpful! Thanks!

The only different ist the lower ISO on the A7S III to get better fine quality in Low light?

Everytime when you switch to the a1 footage I kinda cried on how beautiful the world is like a7s3 did to all the other cheaper cameras

8K DOES have stabilization. What it does not have is the digital active stabilization.

im a hybrid shooter (currently a7III) and i want to upgrade. do u think the a1 the worth the money? i think the crop on the a74 is a deal breaker so what do you think in your opinion is the best deal?

Seb, the A1 is the way. I think that a1 is a true hybrid. a74 is a good camera but for somebody who is just starting with ff. You already have experience with shooting and doing video, so a1. Yes, it costs but is as well years in front of everything.

8k offers basic stabilization but is not an active stabilization so it bassically sucks when shooting handheld if you dont’have stabilization on the lens

Conclusion: if you have enough money and you want to buy both *a7R* spec + *a7s* spec and be all-in-one superduper product. a1 is the answer. LOL
