I listened to the Sony & Marshall & the Marshall had better all around audio definition. The Marshall has a more analog warm tone and the Sony was more digital sharp to my ear. The build quality on the Marshall is unmatched. The Marshall’s also will hug a smaller head shape and won’t flip off your head and they are less costly. Marshall is more comfortable to me as well as the Sony’s feel too big. Marshall Wins.

Just returning sony after one day use,my tatronics has better call quality than sony xm4 ,sound quality of sony is better than tatronics,but not that great.Anc is very similar on both. Sony is $350 more than tatronics. With that price sony is not worth. I have marshall emberton ,it sounds amazing. I am giving a try on marshall headphone.

As for the quick listen feature on headphones - in my experience the person you are talking to thinks you still can't hear then, and it makes the conversation kinda awkward. I have the Sony WH-1000XM3, and it's just more polite to remove the headphones so people can tell they have your full attention. As an alternative I also have the Sony WF-1000XM3 ear buds, which I use at work with ambient sound on, and people have no issue talking to me even with the buds in, because they feel you can hear them. I am very happy with both XM3 headphones and buds. The single connection over blutooth really isn't an issue for me as I only use the buds with my phone, and the over ear for my PC at my desk. Both are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Highly recommended.

Same here, I always remove my WI 1000X even though I can just turn ambient sound on, I think it is also important to let people know they have your full attention.

I got the XM3s recently now that they are much cheaper with XM4s out. I gotta say, as a fellow bighead, they make me feel a bit like a teletubby. But I love everything else about it though. The slim profile of the Marshalls are enticing me now so I may just buy them and give it a go. Marshall suits my music tastes (rock, metal etc.) but I also like feeling some amount of bass. Why is this so hard?

I guess Marshall chose not to provide hardshell because of the build quality of the headphones and to maintain its compactness when traveling.

Yes, after 1 year and half using the m3, the hinge broke. Sad as I don’t have an anc headphone but not like I need them atm. Gonna find a replacement one later this year

There's no comparison needed. Go with the Sennheiser's if those two are your options of choice.

The problem with the bose is the poor Bluetooth codes support, SBC on android and AAC on Apple is just not good enough for serious listening. I get that Soundcloud is fine but even than I can notice it. This also is the issue with the Sony, when you want to use the app features like the EQ, it kicks them back to SBC. Also the Bose midrange is weird.

Marshall has any bt codec built in.

1000xm3 all day everyday. Even thought they don’t feel luxurious due to the light plastic and no metal construction, they are extremely light weight and super comfortable with little clamping force. You will fall a sleep in these and sometimes forget you are wearing oversized things on your head walking around the house. I don’t care about eye catching metal build quality. If Sony did that they would be heavier and lot less comfortable on a long plane ride. The xm3 are more comfortable than xm2 who had little better build quality I would say. But as long as they can take a beating and won’t break (they won’t) even after long abuse and sleeping on the ear-cups of the couch. Sound quality is good and can be adjusted to your taste. I tried these and the 700 at bestbuy for hrs and I could not justify paying $50 more for the 700. No much difference in sound when the Sonys are adjusted to the genre you are listening to. If listening to hip hop or R&B Sony can ball there with bass to rival beats studio 3 but sounds noticeable better and more balancing overall while still rattling your head with bass. ANC was a significant enough win for the Sony over the 700 inside bestbuy and the headband design as it turned out is better for my use since I like to lay on the side of my head with the band/ear cup absorbing pressure/weight. The fact that it conforms and sticks to your skull makes it better if lying down with these than the 700.

Rob Wheeler xm3 don’t creek, at least not mine. Sound of plastic rubbing against you r hands or other material is not creekin Sony could have used metal and made is heavier, note clamping force and not comfortable. My ears never get hot in these.

I assume he has some sort of job, and a family that he focus' most of his time on, and does this when he can, so he is able to make videos, but not able to spend time communicating with fans

For the rattle my head fans, put the sony in Club mode, go to EQ, turn on bass to +8 and up the high just a touch. You'll go deaf.

The touch buttons of the Sony MX3 is a nightmare! I prefer physical buttons like the marshall's

I own the XM3s and I really like them. I'm very hyped for the XM4s because when the XM3s came out, they destroyed every other headphones. I mean there was no other headphone which was compareable.

6:31, sorry but Sony WH 1000 XM3 CAN be connected to multiple devices at one time. You just need to trigger the pairing mode by pressing & holding power button for 8 seconds & then connect your second device. It's stated in their online manual. Thank me later, LOL.

Thats still not what he means. The other headphones can be connected to 2 devices at the SAME TIME so you dont have to repair them.

The Marshall's are ON ears... I would always go with OVER ears. Just purchased the Sony 1000XM3 and they're awesome. And if you treat them good, they're gonna last long.

Hellll yeahhhh just got my monitor II anc. one word: CRAZY! Best headphones ive ever had period! I had the XM3 from Sony and its good but Marshalls are just made for the real music nerd. You can feel it and you can hear it. Get them if you can !

IMO The Marshalls don't belong in this comparison do to their very mediocre ANC. And isn't that the main reason why we're buying ANC headphones in the first place? I mean there are so many NON ANC headphones whose sound Blows all 3 of these units away.......

Jake Stone Fair call. Maybe they’re in as the only new set on the list. The ANC test may have them last, but in practice I find they do the job (granted, I rarely have the option of being completely oblivious to my surroundings). I also found the cabin pressure not as irritating on the Marshalls as the Bose (tested in store). Just my experience.

Yes Sony usually does these stupid quirks with all of their products.

Marshall is not even durable. That knob holds the useability of the headphone and mine got broken for less than a year.

I've had the opposite experience, granted, I have the regular monitor 2, but I've had them for several years and have only had to replace the ear pads (20 dollars to replace) I use them just about every day, and when I don't have them on they just get tossed in my bag.

Have them for about two weeks and as GymCaddy said they're for android audiophile. I connected them via usb to my phone, bought Neutron Music Player, turn on all bells and whistles like oversample and DSD over PCM and Momentum plays godlike with amount of details I've never hear before.

With all respect, you cannot compare for 15 minutes the NFC, bluetooth, NC, straching, and all the bulshit specs, and leave at the end that ''if you prefer BETTER SOUND QUALITY, you should opt for X or Y" This should be the most important part.... THE SOUND!!! what can you do with it, what headphone is more appropriate to which type of usage ... how they perform at movies, how they perform at rock, how they perfom at EDMl! Very disaponted ... but anyway, nice to see that the sony still looks good after one year .. but how does it SOUND ????? I mean allright, you have worked a lot for this video ... but a more suggestive title would help alot! Do not take it in the wrong way, I spent 10 more just to write here so maybe you or somebody else can pick a relevant idea in the future ..... the SOUND! is so simple! ... the rest is just ....noise!

Xm3's best for day to day use, it should satisfy most of the people's need. Marshall's best for sound stsge separation more inclined towards audiophiles. 700''s ????? Only the a**h*les pay $300 for this piece of sh*t. I wouldn't even pay $50 for it.
