mattpatt doesnt theorize on stories that can be pieced out. and the forest gives us a lot of info about what happened. so does sons of the forest. only thing mattpat could do is find out what the best way to survive is or calculate some shit. or maybe, just maybe he will add a plot twist theory into t but not likely

You didn't explain how in "The Forest", you are not the first one to get your child kidnapped. The red man makes a plane crash, he steals a child, his child revives as mutant, he dies, the man who's child got kidnapped enters the lab and paints himself red to avoid the rest of the mutants and finds his son dead, to revive him, he causes another plane crash and kidnaps another child, this cycle happens all the time.

You get the choice to do the right, but unlikely thing to just leave the island, having found answers to what is happening on the island, and break the cycle. No real life human who isn’t like a saint would do this though, especially after the insanity of being on the island in the first place.

No, this is wrong there is no cycle. You are the first pane crash guy and it ends with you. If you choose opiton 1 you take timmy home and it ends there. If you Let timmy go you stay on the island forever. There is no another guy trying to save kids life situation

@@XTRMXPRTKILR dude we only manage to survive because we are already a survivalist. Plus there is no way someone after us to complete the game as they wont have rebreather or other things. For a cycle to happen we should leave timmy there for someone else to find and fight not take him away and vanish. In both endings there is nothing to support the cycle cause there wont be a red cannibal trying to get his kid alive.

The mutants were on this island for very long time, before even this foundation started doing experiments on kids

It’s meant to make the second game’s story even deeper. The obelisk acts as a soul revival device but it’s in-complete. A soul for a soul. Yet the transfer wasn’t fully successful. In the second game, the cube is a time travel/dimensional travel device. Which requires the bio mass energy of everything on the island to activate periodically. That’s why only the island is affected. Yet again, a contraption that requires the death of others for personal gain. Somehow the cube being embedded in the island must keep it contained there; as well as it’s energy only routing through what’s not incased in lead/quantum shielding. Hence the volcano and unaffected office. Only organic material that’s unshielded. In the third game, it will probably expand into a different world, demonic/mystic; a carnal hell-raiser type parallel world if you will. There’s a demonic vibe, so has to be something of the sorts. And it would fit perfectly with the survival/horror aspects and story thus far at play. They can’t have a third game in the woods after showing an advanced civilization with two futuristic/magic devices present. So there’s a third game for sure. It can’t go from survive in the woods to duke Nukem without a proper third installment.

Not only that but it restarts the loop making you crash another person's plane to kidnap their child to bring your kid back to life and we started the cycle all over again

I still remmeber when this game was at its peak,..... ah goods time

This gives resident evil vibes, It starts in a let's say "normal place" and ends up in the antagonist's secrete lab which has the answer to everything happening

If you read the book series of lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith it mentions about how kids are taken to a prison where this prison is actually a Hornets nest and hivemind for super soldiers that are actually children themselves who have been injected by either 2 different syringes (one black that can turn the child into a black suit or by somewhat chance see them become a rat and then there's one syringe that has red dots with black that turns you into any mutated mega creature that makes you equally just as strong as the hulk however theres a huge downside if you run out of this syringe in your blood you die but this can be fixed if you eat or kill another one of your kind. Although, these syringes are artificial blood from a immortal dude that carried the blood and mind of a demon who killed the immortal dudes brother and manipulated him into getting revenge on him once he kills everyone that ditched him but he never got revenge on the demon because he became a part of him making this kid stupid af.) The syringes and artificial blood can't be put into an adult or otherwise they'll explode so if you're a kid survival is in your favor but you'll be most likely controlled by a split conciousness that wants only violence and genocide there's also the possibility you might kill your bestfriend. Also, in this universe protest movements get fucked so badly the U.S military got fucked so badly I swear buildings were falling near the end of the book. Last note: The general or at least the commander that leads the prison if you befriend him but then kill him you would be capable of being a successor for the immortal kid whose like Hungarian who got crucified when he was accused for killing his brother.

Red man wasn't a cannibal, he was a doctor that worked for Sahara. His daughter Megan was sick and died so he used the second artifact to bring down the plane that had Timmy on it. Then used Timmy to bring Megan back to life. The cannibals were scared of the Red Man but it was only paint. The player does have the ability to paint himself Red which frightens the cannibals. We don't know what happened to the parent of the child that was sacrificed by the player but it is possible the parent brings down another plane and becomes the next "Red man"

I really enjoyed the forest except the parts where I lost my cabin because a cabin is a house but they don't mark it on the minimal

I remember playing this game on our schools computer since it had one of the best specs you can get back in the day.

I love that the game is getting the recognition it deserves with the success of the sequel. But for some of us, the ones that have been playing this game for years... am I the only one that's also sad that it'll be forgotten about and called overrated soon? I miss when my friend and I would race home after school to continue our world together. We could talk about every aspect of this amazing game without worrying about people pestering us about getting a gamertag to play together. It almost felt like our own personal game. I might be biased, I mean, I got a $125 sony walkman that the one in the game is based on. A $70 dollar axe. And even a flare gun that was anywhere near $60-$90. I just hope she doesn't die just as quickly as she suddenly gained popularity.

Correction, it's everyone underground. At least that's my understanding to how the cannibals on top never get altered. In the scene where you see Barbara in the dining hall and everyone changes that's what happens on the cycle but it only effects people who are underground when the cycle starts.

I mean, yeah for the first game. But the second one is providing a completely different story it seems. From the ending of the second one that we currently have (Early access subject to change) We're let to believe that this new artifact causes mutations within a certain radius after a set amount of time unless you're out of range or inside the box, which seems to transport you/give you glimpses into alternate dimensions.
