    Issues and corrections to errors I made in the video! See below; Reavers ARE Line in Black Reaving. Don't know how I screwed that up, but yeah, I did, so I am correcting it! Dark Emissary is not a Consul for Sons of Horus, its a consul for other traitor Astartes to Ally in, which can be done quite easily as they have many friends.

    When I play sons, I always use my Justearins as a shock force, deep striking right into hordes and vehicles I want dead, 2x10 man squads(8 stock and 2 melta and Pfist) always cause my opponents to loose momentum hard, wiping out anything they come into contact Be it dreadnoughts or Spartans The fist and meltas take them out in 1 phase most the times And the reavers are the GOAT Hand flamers and axes are the goat Nothing can withstand a 5 man Flamer template when you position right, let alone a 10 man horde

    Yeah Reaver's definitely have line with the black reaving ROW but not the jump pack squad version unfortunately. My plan is to run the black reaving with a master of signals, Abaddon, 5-10 justaerin, two squads of 10 Reavers on foot and a 9 man jump pack reaver command squad with the banner to give them line, a squad of cheiftans with a banner and a contemptor+ Spartan in bigger games. Reckon it's a good way to get line on most of your units

    you could get around the lack of line by taking a herald or two and grab a retinue squad with a standard, but maybe that's trying to be a little too meta.

  • @liammorgan1413

    @liammorgan1413

    The Herald idea really depends on how many points and HQ slots you want to give up in order to accomplish it. It's memetic at best, but by the math alone you're better off just paying for units that already come pre-packaged with the Line Sub-Type, either by default or by Rite of War. Not only is it cheaper, but short of a squad wipe it's also less prone to losing the sub-type due to sniping. Retinue are damn good to have as bodyguards for those with the Master of the Legion special rule though.

  • @jakebishop4753
    @jakebishop47532 жыл бұрын

    Carason Power Axe is basically just a better power sword. +1 chance of getting AP2 and it's specialist weapon so combine it with a power fist or thunderhammer and you have an extra attack to try to trigger that AP2, which is what I'll be doing for a few of my HQs. Thematic to use their legion weapon and the de-chaosed CSM axe looks quite good and stands in quite well. And I'm envious of you just having a cold, was hoping to get some work done on my SoH but the 'rona has kicked me in the balls.

  • @Joshbond.
    @Joshbond. Жыл бұрын

    Death dealers is 100% misunderstood here. If you read the rule very carefully, whenever a SoH unit is the target of an attacking unit within 12" of the attacking unit, a SoH unit may fire at the attacking unit at +1BS. This does not mean the SoH unit firing at the attacking unit needs to be within 12" of the attacking unit, it just means that a SoH unit needs to within 12" and targetted by a shooting attack by an enemy unit. So essentially, any SoH unit within line of sight of the attacking unit can shoot, no matter the distance. No where does it say that the SoH unit must be within 12" to fire at the attacking unit. It just says to trigger this reaction a SoH unit must have been the target of an attack and within 12" of the attacking unit. The shooting is effectively carried out at the same time by both the SoH unit and attacking unit. So its not one unit shoots first and takes casualties and then the other shoots, they shoot at the same time and both take casulaties. So if both units have 10 models each, all 10 per unit will shoot and then casualties removed from each. The final sentence of death dealers clarifies this. Also Black Reaving is slightly different for the first rule. When a unit is the target of another charge and is then charged by a unit, the unit gains Rage(2). So if I have a unit 11.5" away and I declare a charge and fail, another unit within 4" declares a charge on the same target and succeeds, the unit that charged within 4" will gain rage(2) because another SoH unit declared a charge on the unit it charged. So it can be done very tactically, although it can be counted quite easily if the opponent reacts with a disordered reaction essently removing the rage(2) sadly.

    Reavers are Line in Black Reaving Death Dealers does allow for the enemy firing back. There's a clause at the end. I read it the same way at first but it's not and that makes it very meh. It looks like it may have been written without that clause at first but that was too strong so they added that clause. Dark Emissary is not a Consul for Sons of Horus, its a consul for other traitors to Ally in, it sucks for a main army SoH. Legion Standards give you Line, so you are ALWAYS going to be taking that retinue Justaerin with standard. Especially if you take Abaddon, who is one of the good things about SoH now. Line from Legion Standars also makes Maloghurst pretty useful. Reavers look good, until you compare them to Veteran. Yes you lose out on chainaxes and precision strikes/shoot but vets are cheaper, still keep WS5 2W 2A and double close combat weapons but gain a ranged attack, can take cheaper power weapons ( 5 points might be worth equipping the whole squad), can take banestrike squad wide. And that's only if you keep them to the same close assault role. They also have all the more ranged wargear too, Nemesis Bolters for one. Chieftain Squad is ok but your Retinue is gonna be taken up by Justaerin most times I think. Sons of Horus were a low end mediocre Legion with a glass hammer but pays off if you are smart Legion trait and are now a low end mediocre Legion with a rather reactive Legion Trait. If you are facing a ranged army and you will as these new reactions favour ranged armies massively, the trait does nothing.

    A few things to keep in mind: the Master of Signals has a Vox Disruptor Array, which screws up all deep strikes, regardless of friendly or enemy by making them disordered on a 1, 2 and 3. This is a complete no-go with the black reaving giving Justaerin deep strike. Second is that the Dark Emissary sadly only gives stubborn to your SoH units in an *allied* detachment.
