I left my Sonos plugged in for a month on holiday. When I returned it was dead, nothing I did could start it. This trick worked perfectly. Thank you for sharing!

You, my friend, are a legend. My Roam has been doing this since I purchased it 3 years ago, and would frequently go off for months on end (generally after being used as a portable speaker rather than statically at home whilst on charge). I had all but lost hope for it, particularly as Sonos are still yet to admit there's any issue with these devices and their offshore support teams are woeful. I had conceded that this speaker was destined to be a very expensive black brick, sitting in my bathroom, whilst I awaited a day for it randomly spring back into life. Alas, that never happened, but from following the steps in your video, within 2 mins my Roam is now working again!! I've no idea how long it'll last for until I need to repeat these steps, but at least I can return to singing along to some music when in the shower, rather than torturing my neighbours with my acapella renditions. ;) Thanks a lot!!!

I'm assuming this is a software glitch? I have 2 generations of SONOS products (wired) and am surprised about this. I saw threads about battery issue with some folks after 1 year, but also saw some people have had them for longer (3+ years) and still going strong! Unfortunately, SONOS customer support is not as great as it used to be.

Mine has not displayed this issue since the the video was made, despite having a completely empty battery several times after that. Battery life has always been a bit subpar in my opinion though. // Chris

I just got my speaker and it’s giving a lot of issues, it doesn’t show me any other color apart from the orange indicator, doesn’t show up in the Sonos app when I try to pair, and sometimes doesn’t even turn on, could this be because of low battery or something else?

Hi! Sorry to hear it´s now working :-/ Could be because of low battery, however if it still doesn't work with the "holding power button for 30 sec, keep holding and then insert the power cable" I would argue that it is a factory default somehow (at least if the speakers is completely new) and needs to be replaced. // Chris

My roam when it sits for a week shows its dead and wont turn on. I just hold the rear for a little bit till the white light flashes and it comes back to life. Been doing this for nearly year and never had an issue. Even though it shows as dead it will play for hours without touching a charger

Yeah, been doing that too a lot of times to get it to come back to life after it’s been sitting in idle for a few days. Some kind of deep hibernation mode I’m guessing. Thx for sharing! // Chris

@@Yowzoe Hi! This actually only happened two times. Since this video was published the speaker have been working perfectly. The battery life is about as it always has been. So don´t think it is about to give up. Have not talked to Sonos about it. Might do it if happens again. My particular speaker is long past warranty though. // Chris

You should never have to go to that extreme and you were just lucky that the device responded. Definitely not the norm. Shame on Sonos.

Yes, this should absolutely not have to be done! Judging from comments and views on this video I´m guessing there might be something software related going on with the battery/power management in the speaker that should definitely be looked more seriously upon from Sonos. // Chris
