Hey, as far as I know is that you also use Ubiquity WLAN, and you probably have set something like multicast reduction, which causes the speaker react strangely. Also unable to setup probably. Just contact sonos support for that. For me it helped and running all speaker perfectly.

Yeap, that’s the trouble when you use network equipment designed for small to medium business use and you have no clue how to set it up! Sonos speakers are designed for HOME networking solutions.
I was in Bristol IKEA with the wife yesterday and was showing her these speakers, I happened to mention about your setup/use issues that I had seen in this video when released and a guy from Sonos happened to be there on his day off 😂😂 He said it shouldn't have been any different to other Sonos speakers.

The playback issues are the experience I've had with all sonos products tbh. Both in work environments and at home, most issues seems to be with the sonos app itself, playing straight from spotify usually works without problems for me.

sounds like the same problem I have with my LG sound bar. It works as its suppose to with the TV but when I use bluetooth to my phone it takes like 5min of it turning the volym up and down and puseing it. And like 1/10 times it just works.
Our Sonos speakers at the office don't pair anymore. It just isn't possible without unpairing them and resetting them to factory defaults and completely setting them up again...
Hi I bought the Bookshelf on use it with my iMac, very good connection nothing wrong with speaker.

yes, he's using crappy wifi, i have almost perfect wifi and like you zero issues with symsfonisk in 6 rooms and 7 speakers. (1 stereo pair)
Does it work with Spotify over Wifi using Android?
So your sayin if I already have a sonos lamp, and if I get the shelf speaker, they can't pair with eachother to play the same music as the same time?
Could you not hard wire them in and then setup the WiFi
If you're using mesh networking try to plug in one of them into hardwire and use Sonos own mesh networking. I've had issues with loads of smart devices on BT mesh because can't split 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and Sonos only works on 2.4Ghz.
I bought one the first day they came out.(never owned a sonos before) At the beginning it was a pain in the ass just like your situation. But right now they are working amazing!
Setup complete in 10 minutes if you use the ethernet cable. Also make sure you set them up in 5Ghz WiFi, the 2.4Ghz reception could be better.
True, not the easiest to setup but once done mine works well. Better if you stream through airplay using the iOS home app, which requires the 8 number PIN hidden on the back of the speaker. I prefer this instead of using the Sonos app, which affects your original app user experience. Be aware of the permanent “ON” light which might disturb your sleep.
I bought a Monster Soundstage bluetooth/wifi speaker a few years back and the problems you found with the Sonos is exactly the same with the Monster...
Hey Alex, Couple of things that might be causing you these issues. Been on with Sonos support for about 6 hours and narrowed it down to the fact that if you’re running iOS 13 beta the app is majorly buggy. There are also major issues with the current firmware of BT SmartHub 6/Complete mesh Wi-fi. Causing DHCP connection issues when adding speakers and also when playing back content. Hopefully it’s one of these issues causing the ikea x sonos to misbehave and not broken speakers. I have a pair of Play 1’s that we’re exhibiting the exact same issues as in the video.
@HieronymousCheese
4 жыл бұрын
Good comment. But "...Been on with Sonos support for about 6 hours..." sums it up. It's a speaker. You shouldn't need a quarter of an hours' support to get it working. One problem is the lack of manual setup possibilities. Another is the poor Android support. I have a comprehensive network setup at home (wired and WIFI) with various smart devices, audio and video streaming, even a couple of Raspberry Pi's. Everything works. But not the Sonos - it was a most unreliable and frustrating product. The idea is great and the hardware pretty solid. Sound quality very acceptable. But the software.....dreadful.
Thanks! I've been trying to get these speakers to use as surrounds for a Sonos beam, but Ikea won't ship them. I think I'm just going to forget about them and get some Sonos Ones.
I have 2 of those speakers and i've not experienced 1 issue, mine are connected via ethernet. super fast and very good sound.
Would be nice to seen them used with airplay 2
As said in other comments, try from spotify directly. I have the same problem from the sonos app one a Sonos one

I bought a Symfonisk shelf speaker at the weekend. Never used a Sonos device before. I plugged directly into the router with the supplied cable. Down loaded the app for iPad (to use Trueplay). Synched and updated in 2 mins. Played music from my iMac iTunes library via Airplay, no issues. Plus have used the TuneIn radio function. Works and sounds great. A little bit bass heavy but you an tone that down with EQ settings. For 99€ it is outstanding.
I think you have been unlucky mine plays fine and a couple of things you can airplay and the wall mount comes with a rubber mat
no Auxillery input really sucks since theres clearly space to just add either a 1/4" jack, 3.5mm jack or 2.5mm jack and with the lack of an option to wire another speaker to create a stereo setup
@FaithsFallen

You do not need to wire another speaker to make it stereo, you just make them a stereo pair in the app.

They do work... Really well. This guy either has some network problems in his house or issues with this phone.
Plug the ethernet cable directly into the back of each speaker - mine wouldn’t set up until I did this - once I’d done that and set them up, I could unplug it and place it anywhere I wanted for wireless sound - the set up initially was a bit lame, but once I hardwired set up and then went wireless, they both work perfectly and sound awesome
I bought the shelf one, and it only used like 2 minutes to update ! Works nice and sounds pretty good, when you think of the price
Yeah bought a pair of Symfonisk Lamps on Saturday - bit of nightmare to set up which I think is entirely to do with the Sonos app not the speakers themselves. I had to connect the speaker to wifi via my phone before I could get the Sonos app to complete the setup properly. But once working the speakers are fantastic play flawlessly through Apple Music and Amazon Music. I also set them up as rear surround speakers paired with my Sonos Beam - fantastic surround sound! And playing music via the Beam with the Symfonisks as ambient surrounds greatly improves the Beams music sound capability. Overall very pleased.
Can I use these speakers for my tv?

the 2 i have work perfectly. obviously they work better wired than on wifi. In my case they wouldn't work as good on wifi because i live in a new house and the wall issolation blocks a big amount of the wifi signal, even though our internet is new and very good.
Wouldn’t help that the sonos up is crap. We got those errors all the time just using any of our sonos units
Eeeeethernet ! Plus i had problems with my Sonos play one not playing from my phone and my MacBook so think it’s more the source like phone and like spotify as mine did exactly the same
Come on they really couldn't implement the volume in the turning nob on the lamp?
Hmmm I use both a Sonos beam and the Symfonisk and they where so easy to set-up and use..... not sure why you had so many issues ....... Easy to set-up yes it took time to update but heck what electronic items don't but once updated.... awesome.
Hi. Came across your video by accident. Beside a Sonos soundbar under my tv I have my whole audio system by Ikea Symfonisks in my entire house: 7 bookshelf speakers and 3 lamp speakers. One lamp speaker in the living room has been set up as a sub woofer (max bass and little treble) as the bass of this one (generation1) has a good bass performance. It saved me hundreds of euro’s compared to the sub by Sonos. I wasn’t familiar with the Sonos system before buying the Symfonisks so my first experience with installing it was “like the first time…..”. And no: it didn’t hurt. All went smoothly. Anyway, thnx for your video and grtz from the Netherlands.

It's your network. Test by plugging one of the Sonos speakers into your router via Ethernet. If it works OK on Ethernet, then you need to fix your wireless network configuration.
No problems whatsoever I got both the lamp and the bookshelf and they both work fine and the setup time for me was only 15mins
Nice to see we can talk to you again
Probably due to poor WiFi connection, also once you have more than 5 / 6 Sonos speakers it’s 100% worth buying a Sonos boost. It massively improves any multi room Sonos setup (they work as a mesh with the boost as they were designed to). WiFi support was only really added to compete with other WiFi speakers, you really need a Boost for best performance.

Not my experience at all. I bought 3 of the bookshelf ones, 2 as surrounds for with the Sonos Amp and 1 to modify with speaker terminals to use with a ceiling speaker in the bathroom. @@alexeez1 You can also use a Sonos Boost (formerly Bridge) to create the Sonos network, at a convenient place to hard-wire such as your router's location. It also has a stronger signal than any of the speakers because it assumes that your speakers are far from the router. The sole purpose of the dedicated Sonos network is to alleviate common consumer wireless networking configuration problems such as distance, interference and technical configuration. Better and maybe cheaper to fix those problems than to buy the Boost, because the Boost will only solve the problem for Sonos products. If you fix your wireless network...all your devices will benefit.
Mine work great and the sound quality is up to par with the Ones. Would purchase them again in a heartbeat!
the 2 speakers are too close together on the table, causing interference. Space them a metre or so apart at least
I think these are actually excellent VFM, it’s just a shame that the Sonos ecosystem is so locked in. I already have Linn DS systems in the living room, dining room and office and those work on a standard DLNA network, if the Sonos products did, they would be in the bedrooms and the kitchen... but they don’t, I’d need two libraries on my server.
