I couldn’t connect my sub mini to my era anymore and can’t even connect to my five cuz my dad has Sonos all over the house and I can’t disconnect from his to mine. I got my points from Best Buy refunding my speakers

@@bobmcdade5217 I suspect the reason they released the software in such an unfinished state is that it was needed for these headphones. All Sonos seems to care about is making money and those of us who are long term customers don't seem to matter any more. They have not responded are apologised to any of the many users who now have expensive systems that are no longer fit for the purpose they were bought for

@@bobmcdade5217 I assume they needed a new version of the app to be released in order for the headphones to work. They didn't seem to care that it was released in such an awful state which ruined many systems, as long as they can make money on the headphones

Currently they do not explicitly mention anywhere that allows 2 Ace headphones to swap sound from the soundbar but my assumption based on the fact the Ace cannot be grouped or set as a separate room, that when it comes to TV Audio Swap for now the Ace can't share a connection with another Ace to the same soundbar.

I’m not sure I get the point. If they don’t integrate into the Sonos system they’re just expensive headphones. I’d much rather they had the ability to be a “room” like the portable speakers so my phone doesn’t interrupt them. Also something like handoff would be good, come in from work and be able to offload the sound/playlist from the headphones to the home speakers for example. At this price point I think I’d prefer the AirPods Pro because they integrate with my phone better.

Do you know if you can connect the Ace to a PC via USB-C for video calls (e.g. Zoom) or does it only support calls via Bluetooth? Couldn’t find anything about this in the release information

As an owner to a pair of Apple AirPods Max I would definitely like you to do a full comparison between the two. Stylistically they look very similar.

Amazing coverage on Sonos! You were one of my go-tos when I was consider a new sound system. My question is, I use the beam gen 2 system for gaming and I use a separate headphone for Xbox and PS5, if there is the handover feature. Can I use the Ace to be my gaming headphones?

Sonos is playing the same card Apple played when they released the Airpods Pro. The hardware can do things that weren't available at launch. Sonos CEO Patrick Spence did say that they are willing to wait and listen to customers feedback over the long term before upgrading the Ace through software to "improve" it, more like unlocking pre-determined hidden features to prolong the hype of their product.

Did i hear right you need to be on wifi for eq and noise cancellation or is that just as the initial setup then you can use them over bt?

Will the battery be replaceable like their Move 2 speaker?

It will take some self control, but I will wait for Ace II or at least until they work with Sonos Beam. Will be interested on how they also perform for switching between listening to music through the phone say and then taking a phone call - how good is the mic at noise cancelling in call situations?

I would like to know if the soft white Sonos Ace colour yellows from UV light overtime and how much for ear cup replacements ? ( can you run competitions via X or KZread as well)

When doing the review, please test whether the Ace ANC does come throw some white static noise when in a quiet setting with ANC on. This was a major deal breaker and gotten me to return my Bose QC Ultra

@mattdevuk I've recently kitted out my place with Sonos speakers after years of dreaming about it and have the Arc hooked up to my TV and PC. I'm super excited to be easily able to go from chilling with music on my Arc, to putting the headphones on and going into focus mode without losing any of the atmosphere. I also wonder what happens if you are playing music through the soundbar and other speakers as a group when you switch. I'm hoping it transfers it all to the headphones but can you then transfer it back to the same group?

How do they compare to the Apple Headphones and the SOny WH5000? The cost is high and this is a nice to have but not a Need to have. I am an Apple hater but the fit and comfort of the Apple Headphones is pretty high. I own the SOny WH4000 and they are really good but are not as comfortable. SO in reality for a high cost I want best sound and comfort and the most options and ease of use. When I pay so much, I can demand so much. Thoughts?

I think I will get the sonos beam gen 2 first . Looks great though just need to wait on the test review.

I got the beam Gen 2 and it's a pantie dropper

Number of drivers, Driver sizes, frequency responses, surround sound quality and performance, sound pressure at full volume and quality of sound at full volume, lag with Bluetooth, does it sound like it has a subwoofer to make explosions seem real.

Will be waiting for the coming soon updates for which i will be needing these for as have a Beam. Look nice but will wait for reviews

I hope you talk about the software story as well. My interest in these headphones dropped from an 8 to a 6 after their (second) bungled app update.

Hello, love this channel. I think it would be good to see in the review what the mic quality is like while using the headphones outside and does the app have a features such as Bose does like the wind blocking etc. it would also be good to know what the app control includes, how does the lossless deliver over Bluetooth? Is that just via sono app music or via third party such as Apple. And how it compares to Bose noise canceling flagship headphones

I'd really like to know how over-ear headphones like this with noise cancelling fare on reducing pressure on ears during flights. For years I used Bose QC 20 InEar which I wore until they were worn out! For past couple of years have been using Sony WF 1000-XM4 but the left one has died. So I'm currently in the market for new Noise Cancelling headphones but not sure whether to go In-Ear again or go bigger with Over Ear. I'm concerned that the Over Ear doesn't give as good a seal around the ear so won't work as well at easing pressure on ears during flights. One feature that's really appealing about the Sonos Ace is that they can be Bluetooth, USBC-wired or 3.5mm wired! So whether listening via phone, hi-fi, turntable, synths etc it's ALL good!

What is the microphone quality Can it be somehow implemented to smart home and other sonos devices

The Ace is likely more durable in that regard, the XM5 is made with mostly plastic, which is one of the reasons it's cheaper than its competitions.

Anybody knows if you can connect more than one headphones to your Arc or even an Apple TV? Is the battery replaceable like in AirPod Max?

Do you know whether the tv audio swap is supported for a couple of aces together ? I can't find this information anywhere.

I don't see how that feature will support multiple Ace headphone connections simultaneously if a single Ace cannot even be grouped or set as a separate "zone" of its own. The likely answer to your question is No.

@@69JYI then they should call them, ACE, single parent headphones. I hope they'll come up with some sort of SONOS little box where you could pair more than one and decide what to listen with the app.

@Frobiu5 - I'm really keen to see how they compare to Sony XM5s for comfort and noise cancelling. Integration with my current SONOS system isn't that high a priority for me, but if sound quality is on par with the majority of the higher end speakers in the range, these things are going to be impressive!

I think it would be interesting to see how these do in gaming particularly via usb c and the audio swap via arc. I figure mics only work via Bluetooth and maybe usb but I don’t really use mics so I’m just interested in sound quality maybe in comparison to audeze maxwells on Xbox or ps5 directly.

Can the noise cancellation be turned completely off?

I’ve got the original playbar but I am led to believe that the cinema function will not work unless you have got the latest arc, beam etc which is a bit disappointing. Will be interesting to see how their sales do after the recent app update debacle.

First over ear phones Im excited for. Love the Sonos family and being able to seemlessly switch to headphones for movies and gaming is very cool. 🙏 Hopefully they land.

I want a pair of over-ear headphones that will seamlessly let me put them on and listen to the audio running on my Beam gen 2 or other Sonos-connected speakers. I had a chance to look at them at Atlas Audio Video where I live. Not pre-ordering yet, as I have Sennheiser RS 185s connected to my TV, and the Sennheisers support two headsets from a single TV-connected base. The Sonos will be more comfortable and more versatile than the Sennheisers. Thanks for keeping us up to date on these new headphones!

What I would love to know -- Mic quality in calls. Specs are saying you can connect it with USB-C to device. So if it is possible to use it as wired headset with Windows Device in conf calls. I've been looking for ultimate single device for both music and calls for quite some time now. Currently own Jabra Evolve 2 85 that offers perfect conf call quality but not so good music quality and it cannot act as wired headset (only BT) Also own very old pair of Sennheiser MB660. Which offers superior connectivity, very good music quality but decent conf call quality. Also own a pair of Sony XM5 which offers even better music quality but even worse call quality and even worse wired connectivity options Fingers crossed Ace can check all those marks in terms of Call/Mic/Connectivity. Thank you in advance!

@ian.e.68 I really like the look, but can they perform. Is there a connection for a jack so can be plugged in on a plane, and will they come with the double jack that some airlines still use to connect to the entertainment system.

Would love to see how they utilize AirPlay on iPhones similar to the Sonos Arc system, as I love how easy it is to use.

Can I listen to lossless via Apple Music with my iPhone on these via Bluetooth?

Do you think it would work with a ps5 as game surround?

How does it feel with glasses on? Does it feel comfortable?

The lack of WiFi to make them a Sonos zone is a big miss here. But there is a WiFi chip inside, so why not enable them to be separate Sonos zone?

At $449, the bar is high indeed for sound quality, ANC, and battery life/features. The segment is already quite crowded with great offerings.

Im looking forward to see how well this fits in with their ecosystem. Be interesting to know if when using the headphones to watch your movies if it'll be able to do this with more than one set of headphones. nothing will happen to your system apart from the fact when you swap audio from the Arc to the Ace, everything else is muted and you can enjoy whatever you're doing alone without disturbing others which is the whole point of the product as of now until future software updates the Sonos CEO teased.

I'd love to know what bluetooth audio codecs are supported. Sonos marketing have been very cagey regarding this. All they've said is lossless audio - to date AptX Lossless is the only codec that can theoretically deliver this.

Since I live in sweden 🇸🇪 I’m used to high tax on goods BUT! The pre order price here is actually just £405! Amazing.

Will probably save up for one just for the sound swap feature with Arc/Beam as I play video games at night and don’t want to keep the kiddos awake

No. The Arc will be muted when audio is swapped to the Ace, making the new headphones very limiting to a particular use case/market of a single person.

Don’t think lossless works over Bluetooth. Do these have a WiFi option..? Doesn’t look that way. Own goal.

@karoleensta - Super excited about the sound quality as I am very fussy. Also, noise cancellation - hopefully will be perfect for flights and commute. Would love a pair. Also, please talk about sound leakage in the review!

Fairly sure you won’t be missing out with the momentum 4. I have them and they are great. Maybe if Sonos had some sort of WiFi built in so you could do hi res or even lossless that would have been something to talk about.

How roomy are the ear cups? I have big ears, Bose QCs are notably roomier than Sony's XMs

@krak3n I've been seriously been thinking about getting the AirPods Max as I'm all in on the Apple ecosystem, but the fact I can easily pair these to my current Sonos arc for watching TV is a killer feature. I was going to use the AirPods maxes for that we have an Apple TV, but the limiting factor there is it wouldn't work with our cable TV box but the Sonos Ace will since it's tied the arc, oh and for the Playstation too. Provided the ANC is good, the sound is good, these might be a no brainer for me.

How much???

And I just bought two pairs of Bose QC Ultra last month… I hate Bose but thought Sonos would take another year or so before releasing these.

Sorry, it's a good video, but first impressions should mean that you have them in hand and have listened to them. I do not think your title is fair and misled me. You should have called it 'first impressions on the marketing reveal'.

How do you do a review without the headphones?

After sonos made my beam and symfonisk frames basically unusable with their new App-Update I don't see myself spending any money on their ecosystem in the forseeable future.

The lack of ability to stream audio over wifi directly to the headphones is a jaw dropping omission. That was going to be the differentiator between SONOS and any other Bluetooth headset. Based on my experience with the Roam and how it constantly disappears from my app I can only imagine that there were technical issues they could not overcome. Too bad.
