Hey its Butterz Aw thank you so much girly! 🤍 I’m so happpy you’re going to school for sonography! Sure, I definitely will make more work videos! 🥰 And I’ll explain more about the pandemic! We don’t necessarily work with needles and blood like nurses and phlebotomists do but if you end up working in a hospital, or some certain outpatient places, we do procedures like paracentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, and some OR cases where you may have to set up stuff for the doctor. Or you maybe have to scan a patient in the ICU. But not so much & can be avoided if you work in different settings!

I love watching your videos!! As a sonography student myself and about to start externship (yikes!!) this is very helpful. Hey question, did you have your boards right after you finished your program? ALSO! can you do a video on SPI. Like what material to focus on and how to study for SPI. J Jones no worries!!! ✨ glad you’re back! The only difference a higher degree would do in terms of anything is if you want to move up into director of a radiology department or do higher education like teach/ become a professor/ maybe go into a business. But even then, the pay is the same between associates and bachelors. Pay is usually based upon years of experience. I hope this helps!

Hey! I’m super interested in sonography. I was wondering if I should get an Associates in Radiography before I pursued sonography or if it even makes a difference? Also what is a typical schedule for this career? Is there 12 hour shifts or just 8 hours shifts? And I’m 17 and I know exactly how you feel with applying to jobs! A bunch of interviews but no call backs lol.

Taniyah West hey!! Glad to see you have some interest in the field 🥰 every program is different so if it helps you, or if it advances you, you can do that. But typically you can get into a sonography program without needing a prior degree. As far as hours go, it differs across the board! You can have 8s, 10s, and 12s! Some places have 5-6 hour shifts. Depends if you’re full time, part time, or per diem. Lol omgggsh I hope you get a callback soon! I’m so glad you can relate! 🥰

Meghan Raab I applied after it ended! But it doesn’t hurt to apply two weeks before if there’s an opening & you already passed your SPI :) if you need a certain registry for that place of work make sure you’re going to sit in for that as soon as possible!

I was looking into like ob/ygn sonography, but sonography in general is it stressful work. I want a job that doesn’t follow me home a lot. Like I want to work solely at work and when I’m not at work I want to be completely stress free and not have to deal with any work related stuff. So what is that like?

Hi Tamira! Yes, sonography in general is hard and stressful. But it won't follow you home. I leave behind what happens at work AT work, and when I go home, it's all behind me! You just show up to work, do your job, help others, support others, and take care of patients.. when you go home, you enjoy and take time and care for yourself and your family. It's definitely doable!

LaShay ! Hey hey! Some weeks I’d work more than 40 hours but others I’d get paid more per exam. Or the additional drive time & extra hours I put in help. My average days off was maybe like 5-7 days. And I also still worked at my server job for a couple months before actually quitting. I’d say most places in ultrasound if you want to have a normal 9-5 or 40 hour type of schedule you could make about 60k without overtime or holiday pay!

Briana Pena of course! Hopefully my future videos will be of help! When I was working, I had already passed my SPI. I got hired without any specialties. I got my abdomen in the fall and then vascular a few months later. So I sat for them a few months after school.

Briana Pena you just finished!? So proud of you for getting through it! And congrats on passing SPI, that’s a hard exam! No I feel you, don’t let not having specialties stop you. Apply when you can. And if they ask you, or interview you, let them know you are in the process of studying and will take it soon. Just be open about it! Some places require it but others will allow you a time limit to take it like within 6 months - a year! So don’t be afraid to apply! And just go for it 😍 can’t wait to hear your update 🥰

I'm currently wanting to earn my bachelors degree in multispecialty sonography, the average income for it isnt bad, its doable, way better than what I'm doing now

Hi Joselin! That’s a great question. Working two jobs as a per diem tech is very common. You let both know that you have two jobs, and you come to an agreement or conclusion on which place has priority or how the schedules work between the two. For example, my hospital is my priority so.. they do their schedule one month in advance. Then I give the outpatient facility the days I have available. And that’s that. You make sure you have time management and communication with both places! I’ve always had two jobs as a sonographer. Hope this helps!

I went to school for 6 years because I was a nursing student at first and then switch gears to become an ultrasound technologist. My program was a 4 year bachelors degree in comprehensive medical imaging with an emphasis on ultrasound.

Hello!! Do you know if you can go to school in one state, then take exams/get certified in a different state? Or do you have to go to school, get certified, then work all in the same state? I want to move in a couple years, but get ahead and go to school in the meantime. But I don’t want to start if it won’t count in the end....

Hi! Yes you can go to school in one state and go somewhere else to work and get certified. It doesn’t have to be in the same state. There are four specific states that require specific licensure but you can go to school anywhere and basically work almost places in the USA if you have the ARDMS registry. I forgot which 4 states require a state license but the other 46 do not.

I have a video on this but long story short I wanted to help people in the medical field. After realizing nursing wasn't for me, I found ultrasound through a friend. Fell in love with it after taking a radiology class. The rest was history!

Thanks Abbie!! Yes, we do have 12 hour shifts! I have a couple videos which mention this. Most hospitals cam have five 8 hour shifts, four 10 hour shifts, and three 12 hour shifts, just depends where you work! Thank you for watching!

I took the SPI before graduating and the other exams after graduation, before working in a hospital yes! But you can take them also while working.

Melissa’s Cricut Creations there are 2-4 year programs. Pre reqs can take up to 2 years depending how many classes you take. The actually ultrasound program can be about 18-24 months depending where you are located!

I started working at 14 at Eldrige park and I worked for 3 summers there. I'm currently 17 and have been working at target for a year and 5 months and I never realized how lucky I am to get a job so young.

Hi! I’m currently in Vegas, I’ve worked in Pahrump. Look up sonography jobs in your area and see if there are any openings! Lols I have a video on nursing vs ultrasound have you checked that out? Nursing is easier to get into, prereqs are similar, ultrasound has more physics!

Is there Department of Ultrasound in Oxford or Cambridge university?

if you are on call, it's usually as needed! so you will be scheduled for the on-call shift and then they will be able to call you whenever they need you.

Nevada ! And most of it from sonography ! In Vegas the hourly pay ranges from $25-$60 depending on experience + type of shift / per diem / call shift exams etc.

I dont want to study something to end up not doing. It.... i heard that the pay is so horrible is sometimes even less than 25.

@@alphaone321 accountant is great too. If you’re looking for a low stress job, it’s not sonography, I truly dunno why people say that and if they do they don’t actually work in the field lol. It’s high stress, medical field, and yes some people pay less than they deserve unfortunately. I have heard Florida doesn’t pay as much. But obviously as years go by we hope the minimum goes up. It’s a great job, good career, stable. But you can be very stressed, it’s all hands on and you deal with patients in some of the hardest times of their lives.. you’ll meet people with cancer, masses, heart issues and more. But it’s very rewarding and hopefully if anyone goes into the field they get the pay they deserve!

As in how many assignments you received a week and how many clases you did, since im working full time, and i want to know if is be able to balance my life.

@@lolgeselle and regarding stress i believe you, it’s probably stressful, however once you leave work there is most likely nothing alse (work related) to worry about, you don’t have to stress about late works or things you must do by a certain time, as an accountant I’ve heard they are salary, and sometimes have to work insane hours, i don’t want that for my life....

Were you able to work and go to medical school?

I was able to work and go to sonography school. :)

I really want to become a ultrasound tech but I’m afraid :/ which is holding me back

@@yyeseniaa I majored in Comprehensive Medical Imaging with an emphasis in Ultrasound. It can be under Radiology, make sure you have "sonography" or "ultrasound" included! Make sure its an ultrasound program!

I don’t think this is helpful. You are saying how much you made from hustling two jobs, traveling etc. most people would expect to know how much they will get paid from one full time stable position.

I’m sorry you don’t think this is helpful Js M. I’m sharing my own personal experience 🥰 and that making good money is possible with this career, even after a new grad. Sometimes the hustle needs to happen to achieve the goals you want. If you want to know how much you will get from one full time stable position, then this video is not for you! Most places will say salary is between 40k-60k.. in the bigger cities with higher costs of living you could even go up to 80k-100k. Definitely need to look to google for salary inquiries as it is different in every state. Thanks for watching and listening to my story and experience regardless. 🥰❤️
