Sonoff D1 - Wifi dimmer for eWelink
Ғылым және технология
Sonoff has released a new product, which is the Sonoff D1. It is a dimmable light controller. I have only received the core unit, there are matching RF switches are also available to provide manual and local control of the light and brightness.

Thanks for the great review. Is there any method by which a TX could be used to control D1 or trigger a scene that would control D1 ? thanks Tom
@csongorvarga
2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to say no, but I checked again, and it is possible now. You wire the TX and set up a scene that if the TX is turned on the D1 also switches on. You can control if the D1 is on/off, set the brightness and also set Night Light / Working / Reading / Bright scene (which is just pre-set brightness). So this all works now.

@@ThomasAHiggins Let me know how this works. I am sure when I made the video, this function was not available. Good that Sonoff makes these small changes in time.
I was wondering if I could make a sunrise function with this switch? I already have the TX switches that wake me in the morning, but would appreciate a gradual increase in brightness much more. With that being said, I doubt the D1's brightness range is adequate to provide a gradual increase?
@csongorvarga

OK, so the eWelink has become smarter since I made the video. In the scenes now you can make a scene to Sunrise and sunset. And D1 now can also be controlled to turn on at a particular brightness. So you can set up a scene to turn on the light e.g. 20% at sunrise. But there is now way to create another scene 10 minutes after sunset to increase the brightness to 30%. I hope you get what I mean.

@@csongorvarga That is perfect! Thank you for your response. I'll definitely be buying one.
Is it still possible to use this an still control my lights with a physical switch ? I guess it's not possible to dim from a physical dimmer with this solution ?
@csongorvarga
4 жыл бұрын
This unit does not have a switch input. So you can only use it with the RF switch. You can connect the output to a physical dimmer, and set the D1 to 100% and use the other dimmer to dim the light. But in that case why not buy any other Sonoff, like a TX, or mini.
Can dimmer d1 connect to sonoff wireless wall switch RF (T2EU RF)? So when we press the wall switch, it is on / off, while holding it, will dimming the light?

Hello! Köszi előre is

Hmmm I think we need to stick to the more expensive Z-Wave dimmers like Fibaro, Aeotec, etc. They generally have good compatibility with the highest number of dimmable driver types. Big shame. The world needs a SOLID reliable, locally controlled cheap universal WiFi dimmer switch! It needs to have local input as well (non contact or 3.3v switch input or whatever). Also the ability to edit dimming curves need to be supported.
would not work to be hidden im my switches at home, because the neutral wire is not reaching the switch. And as far i i saw it, it's the same thing for almost all the switches in my country

i need D1 for 24V Direct Curent. i change all my incandescent bulb to LED.
@csongorvarga
3 жыл бұрын
There is a Sonoff L1 rgb led strip controller. That may work from 24V (not only 12V). Noting else for ewelink. But there are tons of generic ESP8266 based led drivers on Aliexpress, e.g. H801 you can use. Just not compatible with Sonoff.
Could you use the D1 with a smart wall switch? By using a scene. When you switch on the light via the smart switch the scene then automatically turns on the d1? I'm trying to find a dimmable solution for a set of lights i currently have on a twin gang smart switch.
@csongorvarga
4 жыл бұрын
Well, technically you can. But there will be a noticable delay as the D1 will start up when power is received and even if you set the power on state on "ON", it will be a few seconds until it turns on the light. So not ideal...
Wow! This test is a big blow for Sonoff. They were very successful with the smart contactor switch. But looks like they could not get out of the dimmer technology. Dimming is a different animal as you have to deal with the Zero Crossing of the utility voltage. If you can't dim a regular LED dimmer out of Home Depot, you have to go back to the drawing boards. Anyhow most of the big lighting companies do not have a cutting edge smart dimmer. They have their own pains and glitches. Some of them are horrendously expensive and don't even work as expected.

I can't find a Tamosta example yet, but probably it is coming soon.
Why would any company release a flawed product and expect consumers to buy it? They might need some more engineering help in order to fix ALL the problems; perhaps they may need a frequency selector as well? Most consumers are now using LED as the prices have come down that is the light this company should be concentrating on, all the rest are of the Dinosaur vintage.
