It really makes me wonder... I feel like if he didn't start apologizing profusely and trying to explain himself, there was a chance it wouldn't become nearly as big as it did; and while the chat certainly wouldn't miss anything that could be misinterpreted, Pomu and the rest of the gang might've just let it slide there and then. He really made the sacrifice to ensure that none of his comrades would cringe when remembering that moment, because they can laugh about it instead
