Our golden hamster treacle used to do something similar, he'd climb the side's, then half way across the ceiling, dangle and then drop, he'd then proceeded to repeat the process about 2 or 3 times. Pet's are priceless, especially the memories they give you, they become family in the end. Nice video by the way "wilhelm rock's"

I think so! As long as the other characters dont use the same markings and anatomy as me then I am fine with it. The Smiler is not my brand, and its great to see others showing The Smiler some love!

Hiya im not trying to sound rude but a syrian hamster should really have a cage consisting of 360sq inches at least. In the wild hamsters can run up to 8 miles a night, patrolling there large cages, here is a peice about small cages taken from a hamster group: "Hi sweet, best place to look is zooplus :) they do the cheapest and best toys and you can get a 10% discount on your first order too! I recommend getting a larger cage while you're on there as pets at home have most likely recommended the wrong sort of cage for you (happens to a lot of us, their staff are often sadly lacking in knowledge). Hammies need at least 80x50cm which you can get in the Alaska which is only £32. I recommend taking back this one for a refund ands saying it isn't fit for purpose (as it's too small I'm afraid, and blimmin expensive for what it is really!) Hammy also needs at least a 12"/28cm wheel so that his back doesnt bend when running as this will prevent him getting injuries in the future. Also, not saying you are doing, but p@h are known for also recommending 'fluffy' bedding which looks a bit like cotton wool. Is is extremely dangerous for hammy and should be removed if you are using it. I'm sorry for the essay! And I hope you don't think I'm being rude by this message, I'm just hoping to give you all the relevant information to make you and your hammy as happy as possible." This was sent to someone with a similar sized cage to yours. I can also see when your hamster lands, it is quite big compared to its wheel. A wheel to small can lead to problems such as athiritus and other problems later in life, and a 12" does not fit in the cage you appear to have. The rspca in the uk recomends a cage the size of about 450sq inches of floor space, and are trying to make it the law to have a cage of at least 360sq inches, and have anything smaller classed as animal abuse/misstreatment. If you dont have money to upgrade, a bin cage can also be a great option, the ikea samla bin is just £11 or something around that and meets the 360sq inch recomended limit. I would also be happy to link you to some amazing hamster sights and youtube channels! I really hope you choose what is best for you and your hamster, hamsters really are amazing pets!!

Hey there, you don't sound rude at all, you only speak the truth! I completely agree with you, however he was not in my care 100% of the time. Whilst Sonny was alive, I was at university. I pleaded with my mother to get him a bigger cage but she didn't want to spend the money, nor have the space to put a big cage. It upset me greatly, so whenever I went back, I made sure to let him out for hours. My mother did this too of course! Almost every night he would have full rein of the living room, diner and sometimes the hallway, stairs, landing and kitchen. We would leave his cage with the top off, so we would climb in every now and again to drink and have a 30 second run in the wheel. (I have no idea why but hey!) So he had plenty of excersize almost every night, and every night I was there too. I would end up being sleep deprived because I didn't have the heart to put him back! In the end, he goes fleas. He was 2 1/2 years old and became rather weak a few months before he had fleas. So before the awful fleas could finish him off, we gave him a few days of running around. We decided to put him down before he became too weak to do what he loved most. They deteriorate so quick bless them! I'm craving another hamster of my own, but have no place of my own yet. But when I get the chance, i'm getting the best dam cage I can! :) Thank you for your concern, lovely to see another hammy lover!

Wow, i didn't expect to reply so fast, if at all aha! And that makes a lot of sense and it sounds like you give her an amazing life, and made up for the lack of space! And aw thats a shame, i lost my hamster izzy a few weeks back to similar circumstances, but she passed the night before we where taking her to the vet.. And make sure to share pics of your hammy if you decide to get one :)
