🚕 How to Reach Sonmarg
Private Cab - You can get a private cab but it will be expensive and cost you around 3500-4000 INR.
Shared Taxi - There is no direct shared taxi to Sonmarg. So, you will need to reach Kangan first and then Sonmarg. This can easily take you around 3-4 hours to reach and will cost you close to 250-300 INR.
JKSRTC Bus - There is a direct bus to Leh that leaves once every morning from TRC around 7 AM. You can take this bus to Sonmarg for 500 INR and reach in just 3 hours.
🛌 Where to Stay
If you wish to explore a couple of days in Sonmarg, then you might need to book a hotel for yourself here. Sadly, hotels are pretty expensive here and will easily cost you 2000 - 3000 INR per night (minimum).
Another option is to plan a day trip to Sonmarg from Srinagar and explore throughout the day and then take the evening bus or shared taxi back to Srinagar.
🥪 Where to Eat
There are many small restaurants, cafes, and dhabas available here. You can get here everything from rajma to aloo Paratha, to sandwiches.
🥾 What to Do in Sonmarg
- Thajiwas Glacier - Enjoy a short hike to the Thajiwas Glacier and come across mesmerizing mountain views and river streams on the way.
- Horse Riding - You can also go to beautiful places in Sonmarg on a horse or a pony which can cost you at least 350 INR for 1 hour or more.
- Trekking - Kashmir Great Lakes is a popular trek that begins from Sonmarg and takes you to the most gorgeous lakes. There are many other smaller treks that can do from here as well.
- Picnic - Pack up lunch and a picnic basket and enjoy the valley view from the hills here.

- Horse Riding - 300 to 1,500 INR
- Trekking - 10,000 to 25,000 INR (depending on the trek you choose, number of days, and number of participants)
