Agree wholeheartedly with what she said. We have a 2-year-old Aslan, who's as goofy and funny as they come. He loves children, other dogs that aren't aggressive and just about anybody who'll pay him attention. He is incredibly athletic, runs like the wind and easily jumps our 5' fence. He likes to chase the horse, chickens and barnyard cats. He has a particularly close relationship with the male cat while he and the female are mortal enemies. He is generally quite but can go into puppy mode without warning. He is very physical in his play with other big dogs and with anyone who dares to play at his level. He's never intentionally hurt anyone but he's so big and powerful. He uses his body to slam and likes to grab with his mouth, only because that's how dogs, particularly flock dogs interact. Being a big guy with pain tolerance, that really enjoys our playtime, I'm willing to endure his intensity. I must say, he goes right after coyotes and fox, racoons, opossum and anything else of substance that enters our property. He's ran off chasing deer (over the fence 5' fence). He enjoys walks and rides to the Farm store. Recommend the breed to any gentle spirited, sincere lover of large breed dogs, with property (particularly); farms, acreages with other animals to consider them as a flock guardian, and/or family members. You won't be disappointed.

oh god here we go with the " it's not a kangal " comments . A kangal IS a kangal but no one can show you definitive proof of the origins of the so called anatolian shepard . Some will say an Anatolian is a kangal that is from the Anatolian region of turkey and others will say that true kangals come from the Sivas region and others will say whatever they want . As to having a kangal as a pet and not a working dog is a very bad idea . They are not trainable in the normal fashion and actually should not be trained as it tends to distract them from their job which is to protect livestock . You could see the reluctance in the woman's voice when asked about owning a kangal as a house pet . She KNOWS what i am saying but she is also correct in that a person can have a kangal as a pet but that it takes a huge effort to keep them .happy. i made a huge mistake when i bought a kangal because i had no idea what i was in for . but it's too late because i'm totally in love and will never give the dog up.

We have a rehomed kangal, I had done my homework. Although we have no livestock, Our situation works better for the dog than the suburban life she had and the previous owners recognized it. Our dog protects the smaller dogs and us , walks our property and barks into the big bad night. A successful dog situation depends on the dog’s temperament and the surroundings. But I do agree, not for your first dog, and not for the uninformed..as I type, all dogs are in bed with us and getting up slowly to greet the day.

Turkish-American Television, Thank you very much for this highly informative video! I have one question though. Do you have problems with your neighbors because of their barking/how do you cope with their barking? Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

Easy. Kangals are such a quiet dogs by their nature. They don't bark unless they sense a threat in their environment.

@@alperenerdogan1381, Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question. Good to know that this breed is more adaptable to modern life than its also highly capable cousin, the Central Asian Shepherd dog.

That’s not a kangal, but rather an Anatolian Shepherd dog. It might be a kangal mix but it definitely isn’t a pure breed. The head of the dog says it all.

okay, it's not a pure kangal. but it's an Anatolian Shepherd Dog for sure. As a Turkish guy, i can say there's no Doberman or German Shepherd blood in this dog without hesitation.
