Ойын-сауық

full maintenance of the sonicwake 36 from the greasing of the flex shaft to using oil to keep the motor shaft lubed and to spraying on anti corrosive spray on all the moving parts of the boat. The Sonicwake 36 is a very fast boat and this a very helpful video to show you everything you need to know about the maintenance for a wonderful proboat Sonicwake 36

A nicely presented video. One problem about your boat MAINTENANCE.. PULLING out your flex shaft with grease on it wiping it down and reapplying the grease is going to push grease into the motor coupler as there is existing in the drive tube which in turn is going to kill your expensive flex drive. Before inserting your flex drive apply fresh grease it would be a good idea to clean the drive out with a a few pipe cleaners with acetone to get rid of all of the grease left in the tube after pulling out your flex drive when you reinstall. FAILING TO CLEAN THE DRIVE TUBE WILL PUSH GREASE INTO THE motor coupler. You do not want any grease on the end of your flex drive. I would suggest soaking your flex drive in acetone buy using pipe cleaner to remove the grease . This will ensure that it is free from grease at the end of the shaft a very light rub with some marine grease leaving at least 30 cm at the top free of grease. DO NOT USE A MALLET simply undo the motor coupler more and you can use some lock tight on the thread my sure that it is not the permanent lock tight 222 is the one . This will save your boat being stuck in the duck pond and spending hundreds of dollars on new drives because of slippages with your flex drive and motor coupler becoming damaged also you must space the prop shaft 2.5mm away from the drive as this allows the drive shaft to compress under load . i did not read the instructions as a result i have ruined my flex drive shafts due to slippage. i have noticed that you have no spacing of your prop. you do not need to grease your shaft every time you run the boat that is just going over board maybe every 10 runs or it depends on how hard you push it

Thank you for your comment . the idea of cleaning out the stuffing tube using acetone and a pipe cleaner is to remove all grease and also clean the the collar. before you reinsert the flex shaft ONCE it is then free of grease as you will leave 30cm at the top of the flex shaft free from any grease. There will no grease in the collar. The shaft is spaced out at the end of the boat 2.5mm as per the instructions of the manual this allows the shaft to compress. i do not grease the shaft every time i run it the thumb of rule is that the shaft moves freely

@Finders - Keepers Hi we own the same boat it is the biggest down fall that people are not talking about. The motors do produce a lot of torque for the size of the boat . There is a design problem that the flex shaft strips the collar and the shaft till the metal just smokes I have seen this first hand it is causes damage to the collar as well . What to if you good with a soldering iron you can fill the damage shaft with solder hand sand it and reinsert or you can loosen your motor mounts a tad and push the motor forward a few mills re tighten.this will allow the collar to tighten onto part of the shaft that is not damaged you will get to a point where you have to replace both the collar and shaft . i will stress to you that it will get easier to set up . if you do it wrong its just going to strip all of the time . Pull the shaft out clean the stuffing tube with a pipe cleaner using acetone . clean the flex shaft in acetone so it free of all grease. Re grease the shaft and leave 30cm from the top of the shaft the end that goes into the collar . INSERT once and you will not push any grease into the collar . Using a spacer you must leave 2.5 mills at the end of the shaft . Tighten the collar. As i explained in my video under the normal operation of the boat water comes up the shaft and into the boat . Your collar will get wet and will slip. USEING A FINE PAINT BRUSH YOU ARE GOING TO APPLY SOME ROOF SEALANT JUST A SMALL AMOUNT THE COLLAR END JUST WHERE THE FLEX SHAFT IS. This will help keep your collar and shaft dry Untill i did this i was filled with total disappointment it came undone all of the time and i have nearly lost my boat. i am getting runs with confidence in my boat and every so often i will pit the spanners on the cola to check for any movement . i hope that this helps to enjoy your boat more

Hey thanks for the video! I have a sonicwake 36 with some upgrade parts from RC boat bitz and OSE (heavy duty flex shaft). I read in many RC boat newsgroups that a flex shaft which is running in Teflon liner (like the sonicwake) should not get greased but oiled. What do you think about? @@DronemanJoeRc I just recently bought this boat, and I guess I am the few very unlucky ones. After buying the boat just ran a pack on it, and it happened, emailed horizon hobby and they were kind enough yo send me a replacement flexshaft along with the prop. But after receiving the replacement parts and installing it, same thing happened after a single run. Either I got a bad batch of flexshafts or it seems that 6s is to much power for the flexshaft, I have been doing everything properly, lubed the thing with marine grease. Its getting to be frustrating, getting stuck out in the middle of the lake trying to retrieve the boat, i have yet to have real fun and enjoy the boat. Hopefully this third replacement that they are sending me, holds up better, if not I'll end up selling the boat, or probably just run it on 4s instead.

@@DronemanJoeRc I actually built my boat, it's only a sonic wake hull and a few sonic wake parts that I ordered to go with it because I couldnt find anything other than to fit the application. I bought the empty hull from horizon hobby and took electronics and hardware from a previous build I had built and totalled in a bad wreck (total carnage) I'm using a Turnigy xk4074 1400kv motor, paired with a flycolor monster marine 150amp esc, tuned and set at level 5 punch for racing and speed.( this boat rocks) the Servo is a 35kg all metal 360° servo from RC max. i also added a cap bank off of the esc to prolong the life of running 6s all the time. the rudder is a Z style 150mm rudder and I added a second water cooling also, so the motor has it's own input and output and so does the esc. I'll actually be adding a third water cooling section to the battery compartment next so it will have it's own cooling input and output as well. im using a flysky gt3b transmitter with flysky receivers also. and the rest of the hardware I just bought sonic wake parts for it. I had to make my own push rod for the servo tho, as sonic wake or pro boat does not sell the push rod set for the sonic wake 36 like they do for every other boat. so keep that in mind if you ever need one. I have horizon hobby actually contacting pro boat about sending me an actual pro boat sonic wake 36 push rod set. waiting to here back or recieve in the mail now anyday, last I herd from them they emailed me asking for my mailing address. so hopefully il be recieving that soon. aslo if you ever crack or damage your hull, and have to buy a new hull, its comes as a RTR, (Remove and Replace) so another words it's a completly empty hull, nothing but the battery compartment inside or with it. you have to keep and install from damaged boat everything else. the raw hull doesnt even come with a drain plug, I had to buy all of the misc hardware separately for the boat. but all in all it's been a fun build and worth it.
