Its fine to br realistic but there's boundary on what you are making realistic. For example, Sonic is a cartoony character so being biologically shaped isn't good for that. Detective Pikachu did its balance better but the Lion King was a tragedy

12:13 I just wanted to clarify because when news of this got around, it was hugely massive misinformation. MPC was contracted by Paramount to work on the movie. Paramount has no involvement in why MPC shut down nor would they be the reason why. The reason MPC got shut down was due to Canadian Tax Laws that was costing MPC financially. It is a shame they shut down and experienced crunch due to not working on just Sonic but also other movies like the Lion King and got let off without so much as a single penny. And for more clarification, MPC is merely one of the studios working on the movie. There are other animation studios like Blur and Marza studios. Marza is the studio that did Sonic Unleashed's intro as well as several other CGI content for Sonic. Also, there was an interview with an animator called Max Schneider who worked on the movie stating that there wasn't any crunch time and that the redesign lasted 5 months approximately. This interview got taken down once it started going around online though shortly afterwards possibly to avoid any legal trouble.

I'd like to add on that Max Schneider interview took place on the Sonic Team Argentina fan-site. He also expressed how the new design was meant to be a mix of the 1st trailer design with Modern Sonic. A new rig had to be created as well and while some animation sequences were able to work with the redesign, some had to be redone by scratch.

Eggman has NEVER been suppose to be a serious villain to begin with. Sure, Eggman is great when it comes to his villainous. But we can all agree that his comedical side is what makes Eggman be. Well...Eggman. He’s both villainous AND comedic. And that’s what we like about him. Remember when they made him 100% serious in Sonic 06. Yeah, it didn’t work at all. The same way as Pokémon anime when they tried to make Team Rocket 100% serious in Black and White.

@@chaoflaka8132 i mean~ Sonic Adventures 1 & 2 do make him more competent, but both stories are pretty heavy compared to other games. Best examples of his comedic role was in the more recent-ish games from Unleashed to Lost World. Sure, he still schemed, but with Orbot and Cubot with him, he was always sillier and outlandish. I mean, come on. Even in the late stages of development of his design it was a round guy in pajamas. Dude was always silly.

He comes and he stays on green hills (hmmmmmmmm) he makes kinda imaginary friend ( that Alvin chipmunks guy) named mr donuts( because he is a police). He suddenly become depressive and go to an baseball game,after the game in the night he go and plays baseball with himself but no one was there to cheer him so he become angry and spill out some blue energy that takes the energy from the half of the USA. So now militarys are scared and call doctor eggman( I don’t remember his name ) to find what taken the energy down. Suddenly dr eggman discover sanic and wants to kill him. Sanic know about this and he run. 2 part coming soon...

The movie was pretty enjoyable (in my opinion). I actually had a lot of fun and all the references were very well done. And Jim Carrey MADE this movie. His descent into madness was both hilarious and a little sad. And yeah, the main reason I went to see the movie was that I greatly appreciated the hard work the animators had to go through to re-animate an ENTIRE movie. Animators don't get treated well in Hollywood, and that really sucks....

It kinda breaks my heart that no one is talking about how abused the animators behind the sonic movie were. The artists and designers had to work long hours without overtime pay to complete the movie on time. Not to mention MPC had to shut down their Vancouver branch which left over 800 people jobless over the Holidays. I wish more people were talking about that

Paramount did a good job of fixing the Sonic design from looking like a Sonic from a horror film to the Sonic we know and love

I saw an early screening of the movie, I personally really enjoyed it. There's no moment with the new sonic that looks disgusting, and there is a character in the first 10 minutes that has a normal design (I believe that they are an original character) vs the cartoonish design of sonic. there is a lot of fanservice, and I think that it really played to it's audience very well. Honestly I'd see it again.

Today, the movie begins... And hopefully we see Tails.

Omg yes I so wanted to see a nightmare from outer space run around calling itself sonic

And after this whole crazy journey, the movie ended up being completely and totally ok.
