This legitimately brought tears to my eyes. Sitting in my dad's lap with a the controller upside down and playing sonic 2. My father passed in 2000 but bought me sonic games whenever he could. And this, This just brings back the fondest of memories. Thanks to those who put in the effort to keep fond memories alive and to create new ones worth remembering.

Sonic early desing was also an Armadillo too. But they save it to Mighty, for this reason Mighty and Sonic are pretty similar between them, the same goes to Tails and Ray (It's like they are an alternated versions)

And here’s something even MORE sketchy (pun intended). Knuckles’ Chaotix features Mighty the Armadillo as a playable character. Have you ever noticed that his sprites look similar to Sonic’s from Sonic 1, 2, & CD? That’s because in Knuckles’ Chaotix prototype, Sonic Crackers, Sonic & Tails were the only characters in it. And Mighty appears in the very first slot on the character select screen after the title screen. Strange, isn’t it? Sonic usually appears first. That means that...Mighty in KC is a re-skinned Sonic! This makes them even MORE similar!

Classic's future is great- well, Forces kinda ruined it but, we still have good tunes, except for Faded Hill's synths which scream Sonic 4 more painfully than those dying cats. Though, I could've sworn the synths in Mania!/Time Trials are the same in Modern Sonic's songs.

I was expecting someone would point this out, what he says there didn't mean anything to his character (it was more of a small Easter egg) . I just mean overall he was mostly known for not talking but (like I said earlier) you can see everything off him just by appearance and actions.

The same art style was used in the early 2000's movie as well. Actually Sonic and Tails look the exact same. Knuckles just needs a hat that isn't on fire and the look is complete.

Gonna be honest, this is what made me so excited for Sonic Mania back then. With the reveal, I thought it looked kinda neat (I hadn't played any classic sonic game yet anyways), but while eating at McDonald's, the trailer came up and the animation mixed with the music and gameplay made me realize this game was truly something special.

Ah man, just 4 years ago we were all so hyped about this game…it literally feels nostalgic to rewatch this trailer and remember the excitement coursing through our veins

So the animation can continue two ways: Sonic Mania: Sonic, Tails, & Knuckles go to the next floor without any unexpected surprises. Sonic Mania Plus: Mighty stops the elevator before it fully closes, and Sonic lets him and Ray in. If you want, you can even add this third way (even though the animation for it is fanmade): Amy?: Amy stops the elevator, but Sonic doesn't let her in and closes the elevator on her.

This trailer is a wonderful work of art. I got legitimately emotional and teary eyed. Not because it's a "return to form" game or anything like that. Because as a trailer it celebrates everything that makes Sonic great. Unique level design, fun and colorful characters, and music that will NEVER leave your head. Thank you Sega and Sonic Team, Tyson Hesse and Hyper Potions, for putting together a video that regardless of what happens with the game I will come back to watch over and over for years. This is why I love Sonic.

I kinda want to tell those it's not the fact he's gullible the he believed in Robutnik in Sonic 3 and Knuckles at some point you may see a mural where sonic is fighting Robutnik but at first glance it is unclear which side is the evil one if you don't have prior knowledge of the 2. I still see him as a gullible, hot-headed, character still.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who watches this often! Sonic 1 was the first game I ever got when I was four years old. Now I'm 28 and this (and the fantastic game that I play constantly) make me so happy. Thanks Sega for seeing the light, and giving us a game we can give to our kids!

make a sequel please.. We dont need modern sonic when this is the underline reason Sonic is, was, and forever will be a great gaming icon..

If this is what stopped S3aK from mobile phones in all honesty I think it was a worthwhile trade.

It probably has to do with the S3 original soundtrack, which had some of the songs composed by Michael Jackson, but whatever... The only thing that prevents me from purchasing Mania is that it won't be released for Android... at least for now

Gnidel I don't think legal issues are really the problem, it's more that Sega never let them finish it. I don't know why, it was a pretty dumb decision, but I don't think legal issues were the problem. Ports of Sonic 3 (Classic Collection, UGC, etc.) still had the old music. But who really knows.

The bunny design was later gonna to be ristars base design but scrapped. SEGA might use the bunny design in Sonics 30th Anniversary

0:11 Everyone is talking about their nostalgia with the trailer and that it still brings them joy 5 years later, but how is everyone ignoring the fact that sega referenced the fact that Sonic was gonna be a rabbit before becoming a hedgehog in the final product because the ears were too complex for Sega's 16 bit technology back then?

Michael Fields Was done by Archie Comics artist Tyson Hesse, you should check out the Sonic Mega Drive comics. He did a great job replicating the classic art style of the Genesis games.

I'm going to leave this comment here just to say that Hyper Potions made this song feel like pure and utter nostalgia. This brought back so many memories of me in the 4th Grade listening to this and feeling so...happy. No comebacks of shows and the return of favorite characters can make me feel as longing to be a kid as this. Gonna say this to my future self too, keep on going in life. You'll find the one for you someday; just push through your education.

Love the elevator floors reference at 1:14. - Sonic 1 - Sonic 2 - Sonic 3 - Sonic & Knuckles - Sonic Mania It may not be the official title, but IMO, this is the REAL "Sonic The Hedgehog 4".
