Akai, please send a LIVE to Nick for review. The presentations are truly appreciated but myself and many others look for a review when purchasing things and Nick is an extremely fair reviewer. I'm more likely to buy one if there is a full hands-on review and breakdown regardless if an item is 10/10 or not. If Akai wants things to sell this time (*ahem* rhythmwolftomcattimbrewolf)then send one to sonicstate!

Neither am I, really. Years ago, my first legit drum machine was an Akai XR20 but I quickly moved to the Korg ESX-1 a couple weeks afterwards. Doing every sound from the Akai pads wasn't quite my thing yet. But that's what I find interesting about the MPC Live is the touchscreen workstation aspect. The step sequencer, mixer, piano roll, splicing, time stretch, fx. All of that seems incredibly easy to do. MPC pads are arguably the best out there and it's a nice bonus to have those for sample triggers, clip launches, previews, etc. Alternatively, the more videos I watch of the Toraiz sampler, the more I want it. Anyways, I think you could do it some justice. Wouldn't be much different from a VST or DAW review, right?

What's really bothering me about those presentations by corporate representatives is that (of course) they are going to keep repeating how good everything is and how much easier it is going to make everything and how much you need it.. I'd rather prefer a "both feet on the ground" evaluation with some flaws and missing topics. For example he keeps repeating, how quick and responsive the screen is, drawing random notes and automation lanes in??? This tells us nothing about the claimed improvements in workflow/speed over a computer in a real world situation (especially computer with touchscreen)

This was a great video, it answered a lot of my questions I was looking for. The one thing that isn't clear to me is when you are in standalone mode can you use the qlink knobs as a midi controller in a DAW (e.g. protools, reaper, cubase etc) like he did with the FabFilter compressor in the MPC 2.0 software? Also, can you use it to pull up other VST's and control them in other DAW's like he did with the NI Massive vst? That would truly make it a great central studio piece.

Wow, MPC software 2.0 was supposed to have been released last year, but wasn't. Akai announces MPC X and Live early 2017 and shoots for a 1st quarter release date. Now we're looking at mid June? I don't get it. What is wrong, the software or hardware? Andy has been giving demos of both the hardware and software (less of the software) for several months now and there are several testers who already have both the hardware and software and they all claim that it's better than before and are impressed. Seems to me Akai has pushed the released back from a 1st quarter release to mid June because pre orders were weak and they want to be sure there's adequate demand for the new hardware. Those of us who already have an MPC Ren, Studio, Element or Touch should not be forced to wait for the new hardware before we can use the new software if the new software is fully compatible with the older controllers.

I Love My Akai Pieces but, it Really hurt that the latest Apple IOS updates weren’t supported on my Centerpiece the Renaissance. 2,300.00 not including the expansion packs I’ve purchased. So I replaced my Renaissance with this MPC X. Another 2,300.00. I’m loving the specs and Stand-Alone feature but, I will still keep the Ren and hopefully they will update the drivers to work with my systems in the studio. Hopefully Akai and Apple will take the time to think about US, the starving Artists who’ve Invested a lifetime of devotion to Our work, our Life, our Product selections and Our Work.

I am not disputing that this is anything less than a great peice of gear, but essentially it's a Maschine studio with CV out, additional MIDI ins/outs, mic pre's, and a touch screen. While it may become a instant hit for those MPC heads out there, I don't really see much incentive to jump from the NI ship to learn a whole other platform when there isn't substantial gain to be had from it. Take your Maschine, an audio interface, some Expert Sleepers gear, and voila: you have most of the MPC X's functionality for nearly half the price. I like that it's an all-in-one unit, but when you have a peice of gear that tries to encompass all aspects of recording/performing/sequencing, various aspects get compromised for the sake of convenience. Still cool, though.

That's true. I completely overlooked that fact. Probably because I've gotten used to working around it.

is it easy to export from the MPC to audio tracks so I can later work in my DAW ? Or do I have to record it manually to the DAW ?

I saw in another video that you can export it to an audio track for your DAW.

Does anybody know if it's possible to record midi notes from the MPC Software (2.0) into a Midi Track with the limitations of the AU Plugin-Format in Logic Pro X? (Chords, Arp, etc.). I know this is not possible within the Komplete Kontrol Software (maschine).
