Sage is the one who genuinely adores her father, and she didn't look the slightest bit enthused. They probably had it on from earlier expecting the train to arrive, Sonic and co. to be eliminated, and celebrate, but it never showed.

He was probably forced to wear it by Sage since he doesn't really have any emotions towards Eggman. And Sage canonically sees other Eggman creations as her siblings so it makes sense. Either way it's funny and cute as hell

He was one of the two main characters in Knuckles Chaotix though. Everyone else was there for pretty random reasons, Charmy got kidnapped I think, Vector's band was just gonna play there, Mighty was looking for Sonic because he assumed the blue boy would have checked out a wierd carnival island, and the Mechanix were there because Eggman was there and mistreated them. Espio was doing detective work, actually making an effort to fight Robotnik, and got captured right in front of Knux.

Aside from the game itself, they really did a great job with the characters and their relationships with each other. After SO MANY years we finally see them interact with each other, and Espio being in the spotlight was very refreshing and awesome. Shadow was finally written well. Not only he's not an edgelord, but he's actually becoming a part of the gang and cares about the others (in this case, Amy). Overall, a very good and refreshing game and I'm happy that it's getting love and attention. Hopefully this shows SEGA that we love other characters besides Sonic too

Two things: 1) Does the cake count as Sonic's birthday gift? Or did he just never give her anything for her birthday? 2) Was anyone else kind of hoping the train's personality would get transferred into like, a tiny model remote control train or something, at the end? Something the conductor could take with him when he left? That way the train would still get to be with its friend. Adopt the train into the family, Mr. Conductor.

1) The cake was probably his gift, though knowing Amy Sonic being there at all was already good enough for her. 2) Pretty sure it's implied that the Flicky was controlling the train the entire time. So technically the conducter did just that when he took the Flicky home with him.

the best thing about this game is that it was made by the social media team and other folks they got in to help, not the actual games teams. They did a fantastic job and I hope they get the chance to do something similar again sometime :)

Yes, it was fun seeing all of their names in the credits! They've been quiet with the live stream so I guess this was why.

For an April Fools Prank, this has to be a great treat from Sega. Hope to see more in the future

Throughout the game, Sonic makes a number of references to not having his wallet on him and hoping the train food would be on the house. However, by the end of it he somehow buys a fully customized birthday cake... I think our beloved blue blur was trying to pull a fast one (pun intended) on our boy Rupert smh

Also, I liked how he skipped Omochao being wanted for Medical Malpractice.

As a person who can’t really play this game due to being mostly blind, Thank You Choc! You brought this game to amazing life for me, not only for reading the lines, you and your personality adding detail, descriptiveness, and relatability had me shaking with excitement and tickled my soul. Sega did great with this game, 10/10 for what it is, but i feel you made 100x better. I’ll remember this for a long long time, Thank you Choc! 😎

one of my favorite things about watching people play this game is the genuine delight in their voice when sonic shows up like "oh my god it's sonic! hello! :D" as if it's unexpected to see him here. i don't know why it happens every time but that was also my reaction

The idea of Shadow being an Arcade wizard is just delightful to me, and I hope that’s a part of Sonic 3, since “50 years ago” in the 2020s is just straight up the 70s

They snuck in some IDW references towards the end in Eggman's lab. On the far left monitor you can see the Eggperial City Control Tower as well as the Face Ship which was used in the Metal Virus arc/

Ok, so I'm calling that it's the director. The signs are just all there. The train crashed, he bought tickets to fly out with his wife, it's his last day, and Sonic was the one dressed like a captain, the head of the train.

The ending made me realise that Eggman now has both a super AI in Sage and a super Robot in metal Sonic. So, what if the two of them kinda fused for a time?

sage and metal both wearing a "let's go dad" shirt at the end really caught me off guard. Not for sage but metal sonic specifically after sonic heroes. I never thought metal sonic could be adorable but this game proved otherwise

The Thinking Dream gear mini game reminds me of the Neo The world ends with you when Fret has to use his *REMIND* Psychic powers(you gotta rotate the control sticks in different angles to piece together a drawing of a memory Of someone/something)

The endless runner game you're talking about in the final stretch is called Sonic Dash. Simple but pretty genuinely fun. I fucking LOVE high-effort April Fools jokes, so this was a VERY welcome curveball. Didn't expect it to be as genuinely good as it was either, such a pleasant surprise.

Clarifications from a well/decently knowledgeable Sonic fan to help clear things up (even though most people in the comments probably already have lol) along with some fun facts: - If you needed to, you can go into the options and turn on both invincibility and remove pits to make the runner segments easier - Try not to take EVERY detail about this game as fact, the canon of the game is a bit dubious with details here and there, although I agree and want the majority of this game to be canon -- Listing the ones that I have issue with that would cause canonicity problems: --- The idea of Amy having backup hammers, because she normally just summons her hammer out of literal "hammer space", Also THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT HER HAMMER IS A SQUEAKY HAMMER because she originally did, her Piko hammer was very much based on a squeaky hammer, I feel like that's getting more and more forgotten in the general consciousness (also I'm fairly certain is the actual source of her strength and traversal, her having an amount of super strength ends up encroaching on Knuckles' whole point as a character) --- The train they're on being made by Eggman 32 years ago (unless the train had decent tech a long while ago and it was simply upgraded at some point, otherwise is just more than likely a meta joke on the fact the franchise is 32 years old) --- While yeah, Shadow tends to be labeled as "The Ultimate Lifeform" and it IS true to an extent, technically Shadow labels Sonic as it by a realization in the final boss section of Adventure 2, it's not well known because it's a slightly hidden dialogue option due to only being shown up if you want around a long time for the boss fight --- The idea of the jeweled Chao egg being specifically "Fabrege" implies Russia is canon to Sonic due to the term being the name of a company --- The characters should technically know how to tie shoes because there is evidence present in past games that allude to them knowing how to tie laces - Player character: The game code and promotional trailer label him as "Barry", he's a quokka - The name of the train "The Mirage Express" is due to the train being on the same island that was featured in Sonic CD and Sonic 4, the latter being that you explored the actual land mass surrounding Never Lake where Little Planet (the level locations (Zones) for CD) being named "Mirage Island", it's the big chain that Eggman originally used to hold Little Planet in place back in CD you see outside of the Saloon Car window - (Don't know if you got to see it) The "Shadow has coffee beans raw" thing comes from one of the Sonic Twitter Takeovers - The game was made by another team, yes, you'll see so in the credits - The reason why "Barry" is invested is because otherwise their life is boring, plus they ain't got nothing else to do on the train aside from catering everyone - Tails' cast iron is mostly from the recent tails Tube episodes where he's shown to cook meals for Sonic occasionally when he visits Tails' workshop - Spindashing doesn't EXACTLY make the buzzsaw effect in canon, it's more like a spiked wrecking ball if anything - Barry mentioning endless runner games is mostly in reference to the same kind of mobile games that are out right now (Sonic Runners, Sonic Dash, & Sonic Forces Speed Battle) - The DreamGear: It's also part Dreamcast - Sonic doing the Family Guy death pose meme is actually the second time the pose was used in something Sonic related, previously it showed up in one of the recent comic (IDW) issues by a character in it named "Surge the Tenrec" doing the pose - The general design of the Saloon is based on the Mirage Saloon Zone level from Mania - I mean what's funny is soon after this game's announcement, they actually did an April Fools joke of Sonic having a dating sim novel game XD - The doodles are based on the old Sonic Japanese manual "tutorial" sketch art designs - The code for the safe is April Fools day - Some of the clothes in the closet reference the OVA (mostly the short) and Frontiers (mostly the brown Adventurer's Shoes) - The gamer hat Forces oc that's in the library and on the printed picture is specifically "Ian Jr." - And to be fair on Shadow not knowing how to handle computers, the last time he tried to he just karate chopped the thing XD

@@reggielacey2235 Look up Sonic Champions/Sonic the Fighters, the first game where she has a hammer. It's clearly a squeaky toy hammer there, same as in Sonic Heroes. Or just listen to the sound effect it tends to have, it uses the typical media sound effect those kind of hammers have in Japanese media. Where it sounds like two blocks of wood hitting together. In only like 2 or 3 instances. The only games to reference her having any actual amount of super strength is Sonic Battle (which not only wasnt done by Sonic Team, but has a botched English script, btw) and this one due to this being written by the social media team. The only instance I can think of that would actually lend to her having super strength is Sonic X, but that one already gets a lot of the canon warped due to it being more of an anime and has those kinds of tropes but even then they don't make it seem like she has super strength outside of her hammer. In the games themselves, most of her feats are done with her hammer. Meaning her hammer is where most of the damage comes from. There's also a moment from the IDW comics, but a lot of the general idea people have of her having super strength is a gross misunderstanding of how her hammer works.

It wasn't included in the video, but Amy mentions in the game that it was a spare she brought along because it was lighter than her usual hammer, since she didn't think she'd need it

All in all, the quality of recent Sonic stuff has been skyrocketing. The movies, Frontiers, the IDW comics, Prime.

Sega always pulling the rug under us and releasing some interesting surprises. None the less this April 1st joke of a game is fantastic I definitely got some Ace Attorney and Danganronpa vibes here 😄.

The only thing they had to do was make the MC a bird so people could name him "Phoenix." Missed opportunity there, Sega.

Ah, a reference to Mr. Wright like this whole game is an Ace Attorney spoof. Smart. But I suppose we can still call the OC Phoenix even if he wasn’t a bird.

I saw this yesterday while looking for free games on steam then I saw this and up until now I didn't know it was a official game.

Bro I thought this was an April Fools game why am I crying at the end???

I love the fact that the killer was actually one of sonic friends and not just "oh it was no one here actually it was eggman"

Sega be like: Sonic’s dead.

Predicting the ending 30 minutes in like an absolute madlad.

I named myself “fool” so every time they talked to me, it sounded like they were insulating me PS: The game is head canon. It says in the game description.

I will treat it as purely canon, i dont see anything in the game that could contradict any previous lore in the slightest

Given it was officially released by Sega, I don't think not being developed by Sonic Team is gonna stop it from being canon, especially given no contradictories here to be found. I mean, the Advance and Rush series are both canon, made by Dimps.

Sonic 06, Forces, and now "The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog." You know what they say... Third time's the charm I forgot about Adventure 2 killing Sonic for a brief moment
