In the final episode of Tom and Jerry, they both get dumped and it ends with them miserably sitting on a railway bridge together waiting to get hit. We had it on DVD when I was a kid.

Tbf they do explain that Sonic needs him to take him there because he has no idea where San Francisco is Also Jerry is mostly innocent, he’s just trying to live his life but Tom keeps trying to murder him!
