So THATS how speed runners just drift forever on a straightaway. I never guessed to try tilting the stick. I’m definitely gonna try these out. My best times are finally gonna get better after so many years of becoming so good at the “intended” method of playing the game.

I love how despite having a button that lets you go super fast on a whim Generations still requires skill to maintain consistent momentum throughout stages and you really need to be good at the game and have a mastery of Sonic’s moveset in order to get a particularly outstanding time on a stage.

Whoever had the balls to dislike this video must not be a hardcore Sonic fan because this badass as all Hell to watch! I LOVE IT😍👍👍

God job. I'm going to learn this speedrun tips,but now this tips is very hard for me 😅

And this, is why, sonic generations is goated

In forces, same thing applies for the first tip but I find it better to jump to conserve it in forces because of the better air Physics in that game. But this helps me SO MUCH with gens speedrunning. I managed to do something where I managed to speed up homing attacks by homing attack and air boost cancelling using the homing attack. Idk how but it worked. Do u know what I possibly did?

Point taken. And yeah I think I understand how your airboost/homing attack works since there's less cool-down for airboosting after a homing attack than there is for consecutive homing attacks in Forces. Well played^^

Finally, now i know why people slide in 2D

For some goddamn reason, when i do the drift tilt technique, the arc of the drift is still narrow.

I've gotten the ramp launch, Blast Off launch, and 2D slide tricks down. But I'm having trouble drifting. I'm using an xbox 360 controller on PC if it makes any difference.

Drifting mechanics between PC and console are pretty similar, though the drift is a bit faster and stiffer on PC which makes it better for maintaining high speed in restricted 3D areas. Xbox 360 controllers work fine from my experience

The game keeps track of the lowest time that Sonic reaches each checkpoint. The time difference displayed is red when running late, and it’s green when a new record is set

It shouldn't be a problem as long as you're using a controller with an analog stick, but keyboard controls have more restrictions

Hold LT/RT (Xbox360) or R1/R2 (PS3) and turn right or left while running. If you're on PC then you'll have to find the drift key, assign the drift action to a key of your choice, or hook up a controller

It's basically drifting in a restricted 3D area. Just begin drifting before entering a locations like quickstep lanes that restrict movement

The both Xbox and PS3 physics are nearly identical. All I can say is to just keep trying
