You know how it is. Shitting on Sonic was the cool thing to do back then. This game was fun and they still managed to give it a worse score than many other games on Kinect, which honestly, were worse. All because of that Sonic hate boner.

To be honest, I would’ve like this game a lot if I figured out how to properly work my Kinect. Though one of the main drawbacks me and my sibling had was getting it to work as most times it would cut in and out or just not trace track properly like other games. I give you props for getting it to work properly

The Kinect needs to focus on the players. If something in the background is visible, then it might not focus on you, but instead of some object. Also, I read that what you're wearing also makes a difference, it needs to be clear and simple. But overall the most important thing is, to have enough space in your room, because you can't play this game, when you're to near to the Kinect. The perfect distance from the Kinect was 1,5 meters for me.

Sega Should Make A New A Sonic Riders Game That Will Be Cool I Love Sonic Riders

Did people really struggle with the Kinect controls? I play the game to this day and it's great/tracks well. Only time it gets fudgy for me is during the flight characters' air hoops, but otherwise, it plays like how I imagine the designers intended. Why are so many people having a hard time?

When I played this when I was younger I swear the Kinect wasn’t that bad

@bluemike1215 After lost world (which i really enjoyed) we got some bad tv tie in games that no one remembers. Followed by one of the best games in the series (sonic mania) and 2 mid games (forces and TSR). We never got a bad mainline sonic game in that decade. The worst games (not counting the boom games) were 6/10 at worst. It's far better than the late 2000s at the very least where they turned out shit game after shit game. 3 of which are among the most miserable video games i have played in my life. There's only 2 games from that era that i legit like (rush 1 and sonic unleashed)

People mainly complain to this game about Kinect being the only control option. To me, my major complaint with this game is _the lack of SEGA guests._ I mean come on, at least Zero Gravity had 3 SEGA Guests as well. The first game had NiGHTS, Aiai and Ulala, Zero Gravity had Amigo, Billy Hatcher and NiGHTS (again) but what does Free Riders have? NOTHING!

The most important thing is to have a lot of space in your room. Also, sometimes it can happen that the Kinect just doesn't work properly, so you have to be lucky sometimes.

It sucks that this game had to use the kinect because it genuinely seems like its a good concept for a riders games :(

I think the most annoying characters in this game are Amy & Jet. Amy is very bratty, controlling, and whiny. While Jet is arrogant, complainer, and douchy. It feels like they're both popular mean boy/girl stereotypes

Alright, so the most important thing to actually play the game properly is having a lot of space in your room. If that's not the case, the game is basically unplayable. As you may know, the game also needs an Xbox Kinect to work. You can buy it on eBay for example. It must contain the Xbox Kinect itself and USB cable power supply, adapter, and a charger. The Xbox 360 console and Sonic Free Riders is also available on eBay. After you have bought everything you need, you can then finally play the game. At first, you will need to learn the controls. It can be sometimes very difficult, and there are moments where the Kinect just do what he wants. But once it works, it really is fun. The game has a lot of content. It has the story mode, the omochao shop, challenge modes and many playable characters. You can also play together in one screen like this trailer shows: m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/nGyVx5R_eba4dNI.html But is the game really worth it to buy an Xbox 360 and the Xbox Kinect? I think yes. When I was younger, I also wanted to play this game but I never had the chance. But now as a KZreadr, I finally decided to buy this game and the Xbox Kinect to finally try it. If you get the Xbox 360 for the first time, I would recommend to try more Xbox 360 games besides Sonic Free Riders, since there are plenty of other fun games too.

Looks like Sega/Sonic Team after Sonic and the secret Rings did not learn their lesson that motion controls should not be used in a game like this.

If ya'll are playing this game and are set on beating it like I was, either out of masochism or just wanting to say you did it, I have a few tips. One of the biggest mistakes people make is follow Omochao in the tutorial before every race. Don't do this! This "tutorial" is actually a sensitivity calibration and people tend to lean extremely far, making turning near impossible. I personally try to stand as still as possible so I can have the tightest turning possible, but play around and see what works for you! Another tip is actually take the time to learn the game mechanics. Most of them here are ripped from Sonic Riders on the Gamecube, especially the main mechanic: The Air Gauge. The game teaches you the basics, sure, but like the original Riders, it doesn't help that much. I know when I was young I had no clue what that bar was, or what filled it. I didn't realize until I played the original Riders on Gamecube that I realized how it's used. The Riders games (At least 1 and Free) are all about managing your air, making sure you have a consistent flow while maintaining speed. Hit ramps, get rings, and take as many shortcuts as you can as they almost always refill Air in some way, and use your Kickboost wisely! Another mechanic of the riders games is rings, get enough and you'll level up, enhancing your speed, air, and more. Every level up will also grant you a complete refill in your Air meter. Make sure to have water nearby. In real life. This game is a workout, so don't take it lightly. Most of the exercise in this game comes from squatting and jumping for ramps. Start squatting as low as you can at a reasonable distance, and jump (or stand up quickly if its easier, like it is for me) right once you hit the ramp for the S rank! (The better the rank, the more air you'll get.) This game is sh-t, I'm not going to deny that, but hopefully this can make someone's experience just a little bit more bearable.

Seems like a good game by looking at the gameplay and soundtrack. I heard a lot of bad things about it, but i guess if you learn the controls and set it up right the game become enjoyable. But because how hard it is to set up and understand, the game become bad as a game you cant control is a bad game.

*Tag Race:* It's basically a co-op mode, where you can team up with another player in one screen to win the race. *Relay Race:* Regular race in team mode against E-10000 robots, with the difference being, that after one player finishes a lap, the players then need to swap out so that the next player can play to finish the race.

@@DanielDX tried it once at a friend's house cuz i never owned a Xbox and it was not a good time 😅 even if i were to "get good" i just never liked when games force a certain control style. Imagine of Mario Kart Wii MADE you use the steering wheel. Alot of ppl wouldn't have liked it, good or not. It's cool as an optional thing to maybe spice things up but games should almost always offer a standard control option. There was no reason Free Riders HAD to be body motion controlled. I don't think anyone can argue against that lol. Atleast my DS comparison has some arguments like with some games where you need to draw. You can't exactly draw with a D-pad so of course, the DS uses it's touch screen for that. Maybe Free Riders could have had some features behind body motion like tricks or something but alas. It's cool that you found them tolerable but i dont think it's fair to try and invalidate others' experiences and assume they're all bandwagoning haters and that everyone would have a good time if they just gave it a chance 😂 Also...dont get me started on ppl with physical disabilities....they have no way to play this game and that's another reason i think games should atleast offer that standard control option. The game just didn't need to suffer by forced motion controls is my main point. Ignoring everything else...we can all agree it was a gimmick...like most Kinect, PS Move(or Motion?) things were in the day and tho it was a hit for games that obviously needed it like the dancing games, it was super unnecessary for Sonic Riders imho and clearly the game took a hit seeing as it bombed. Sonic Riders was already niche so it definitely didn't need that kind of forced experimentation on it. I think it being Xbox exclusive also hurt sales too 🤔
