Sonic Forces in a nutshell. Looks like it's doing something cool and interesting... and then it just grinds of the rail, missing the spring it should've locked onto, and dies. Forces could've been a good game if they didn't spend 3 of their 4 years of development making THE ENGINE, with only 1 going towards the game itself on top of having like 3-4 level designers. I don't see what was so wrong with the Generations engine or even whatever Lost World was running on that they had to make a whole new one.

I agree; it had potential, but it just fell flat. The inclusion of Classic Sonic didn’t help much, either.

@@TheSilentTyphoon Should've just had Tails as the 3rd character so he could actually do stuff instead of be a whiny coward. Classic didn't really add anything to the story other than a cute Mania tie-in and nostalgia bait. Which if they still wanted that, there's no reason you couldn't have controlled both characters. That's sorta been a thing since S2, and was fleshed out more in Advance 3 and S4E2.
