The fact that tails instantly recognized that Sonic’s outbursts were due to his own self loathing and didn’t take any of it personally shows how well they know eachother and how strong their bond is. This is some amazing writing and understanding of these characters

For anyone confused: this is based off the Metal Virus arc in the IDW comic, which is really good and you should deffinitly read. I LOVE THIS SPIN. They played the arc weel but i do wish they had given us a bit more from it. I'm guessing (from the expression in issue 56) that Sonic is about to hit a breaking point. Context: This takes place during the Metal Virus (second main arc) of the IDW Sonic comics, written by Ian Flynn (yes, the same one who wrote Sonic Frontiers' story.) The basic thing you need to know is that it's pretty much a zombie apocalypse story made family friendly. In this scene, Sonic is about to be overwhelmed, but Tails goes and saves him, getting infected due to touching Sonic (he's been infected the whole arc, but his speed keeps it at bay.) The favor Tails asks of Sonic, is for Sonic to break one of his tails to prevent his zombot form from flying to Angel Island, where the remaining cast (including Eggman) are trying desperately to find a cure (in the end, it's the Chaos Emeralds.)

Because if he could fly as a zombot, he would most likely fly to angel island and infect everyone. So Tails asked him to do that so he couldn’t

Dang… this was actually hard to watch, was up there with the dub of that scene where Whisper heard of Tangle getting infected and choosing to stay behind to hold the zombots back (was actually in the comics). If only we got this in the comics, a lot of people would not complain about him being a crybaby like in Sonic Forces. Or at least he would go out in a more memorable way than just giving him a single window. Sadly Sega won’t allow something like this to happen to any of the main characters, or let Sonic show any form of emotions like he does here

This would actually break sonic mentally, and maybe sonic would have stopped "pulling his punches". And be less forgiving, and more cold.

Internal conflict can make a series bloom. And this was a example. Well done.

this is such an insanely good emotional dub, props to all!

took me a few times to get what happened. That crack wasent him breaking his neck as a mercy, he stomped on and broke one of hus tails to keep his virus-form from flying, then once he turned, he left him and informed the others. Trust me, I missed that imprint on his tail the first few times too XD

The first time I read this comic I literally had to put my phone down and pace around the room for several minutes because damn this scenario is so well written and I could SEE IT. I COULD SEE IT HAPPENING SO CLEARLY. I love the metal virus arc and I love the idw sonic comics I would have loved a scenario like this for the canon, even if it would have broken me badly. Anyways, amazing work all of you, auuughhh the voice acting and editing only made this comic even more heart wrenching 😭😭😭 Than k you for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

The metal virus was by far the greatest and hopeless story in the Sonic franchise. If the story was a game I really wonder how Sega would have been able to do it if they had the apparent amount of resources and time.

And there is one other character who while not always goes with them and suffers the same and she's YOUNGER THAN TAILS: Cream, she is SIX YEARS OLD AND FOR WHATEVER REASON GOES WITH THEM DESPITE KNOWING ITS ESSENTIALLY SUICIDE IF SHE IS NOT CAREFUL! Yeah they suffer and almost ALL of the Sonic hero cast are teenagers, or children. I agree with you.

@@kuninblade7066 she doesn't go with them. she's with the restoration where it's safe, together with the rest of the population they managed to save. they dont let her help in any point but the last minute emerald hunting. they didn't have anyone else to go, and she does know a little bit of fighting (and had gamerl) edit: they didn't let her go to the last minute emerald hunting, she snuck in. gamerl was supposed to go alone but she got into the portal with him (and if you think abt it, they would've died if she didnt)

Id imagine itd be semi open world with a silver liquid like corruption meter that builds up over time. The higher it gets the quicker u lose rings. When they are gone, the screen starts to fade black. U remove the virus meter by going at ur current top speed for certain periods of time. Hitting enemies also builds up the meter. Game overs (via metal virus corruption) would have the screen go completely dark, b4 it flashes red, and we hear sonics voice roaring distortedly. The words "game over" show up on screen in blue, b4 being covered in silver with the space inside the "O" turning red.

I never really thought about it until I read the Metal Virus Arc, but, are they actually wearing gloves? The Virus goes grows over their gloves and can transmit it, and the only characters I can think of who don't have gloves are the robot characters, those villains who are based off the 7 Deadly Sins, and the characters who don't even have hands. Are those 'gloves' just what hands look like in their universe?

He had sonic break one of his tails before he fully turned, Since if he was zom-botified he could just fly to AI, Since zombots autorepair, he had sonic break one BEFORE he fully became one.

yeah the idea is basically that his insanely high speeds can like, burn off the virus, holding it back, but by the end of the comic it mutates to the point where this stops working and he starts to get too tired anyway, so becoming super sonic and immune to the virus happens at literally the last second

Here's a run of the comic:Sonic is about to fall into a crowded area we're zombots are but tails comes in saving sonic in time but since sonic is infected tails becomes too and sonic has a breakdown because he promised too protect his little brother and seeing that his infected hurted his heart to the point he gets angry at tails for saving him

I have a question regarding the Metal Virus. If The Chaos Energy influences life on Mobius, and Metal Virus takes over it, isn't Chaos Energy supposed to be the symbolic antithesis to the Metal Virus and able to detsroy its cells individually? Or is there something I'm missing?

Spoilers if you haven't read the comic, you should go read it if you have the chance but uh... The way that they resolved the conundrum of the virus was by simply taking Starline's Warp Topaz, a gemstone that could bend Space-Time by simply giving it a light stimulation, and super charge it with all 7 Chaos Emeralds... essentially use a Super Form with it.

Well, Sonic got cured by going Super but that's because the Chaos Energy was so massive, it overloaded the Metal Virus into self destruction. However, it's not enough to cure Mobius. Read the climax to catch the idea if you hadn't already.

That only applies after they had been infected. Sonic did it before he turned so the virus couldn't regenerate that.

For the metal ark in IDW we all know everyone is suffering....but dose anyone else think sonic suffered more? He cant touch people without infecting them...he cant stop running or else he turns if anything only for a little...then he sees those closest to him become lile mindless zombies...the world puts too much on sonic sure he may act lile everythings fine but do we REALLY understand our happy blue speedster?
