Sonic Colors (DS) - 100% Speedrun

The 100% Category involves unlocking All Events, Sounds and Illustrations;
This means that the category requirements are: Retrieving All Red Rings, Beating All Missions Twice with an S-Rank on the 2nd Try or any subsequent attempt (Required as there are cutscenes that will not unlock otherwise i.e. The Mission Triumph Event and 2nd Play Event), Collecting All Chaos Emeralds and defeating the Nega Mother Wisp.
On this run, I achieve All S-Ranks in each stage and for style I would have it be required for 100% completion as the Acts and Bosses would achieve an S-Rank trivially so this only affects the Special Stages which I wasn't a fan of getting Cs and Ds for this category.
Time starts from when you press 'Play Game' after the Title Screen and ends after the jingle ends from the score screen (Or when the score screen disappears) on Nega Mother Wisp.
Something I found out after completing the All Red Rings category is that Sweet Mountain and Starlight Carnival can be interchanged in order and then revisit Tropical Resort to do the missions after Sweet Mountain (Due to Red Burst being needed) but for Planet Wisp and Aquarium Park this cannot be done. This is because the 2nd Red Ring in Aquarium Park Act 2 requires Yellow Drill and cannot be retrieved otherwise so the order of these two areas matter.
This run was done deathless and has a couple of restarts, the stages were generally well done and remains to question whether or not the sub-1:40:00 is possible. The areas Sweet Mountain and Asteroid Coaster were the most cleanly done sections in this run and very happy with those in single segment 100% run.

The route used for All Red Rings and hence 100% was first created and routed by myself about 6 months ago and the All Red Rings routing was the hardest part of it as it was pretty much the main backbone of the 100% category. In addition to this, 3 Act stages needed to be redone due to one Red Ring in each stage being impossible to get due to missing wisps. It at least has more views than all except one video being my Sonic Rush Adventure All Emeralds Speedrun as seen on my playlist of full game speedruns.

They really should’ve added the Mother Wisp as a DLC boss in Ultimate! That would’ve completed the missing piece of the game!

That would have certainly be a new and surprising edition to the Wii version, we’ll just have to settle for the RNG in the DS version now

Thank You, this run was definitely the toughest for me to make as I’ve just recently routed this after I routed the All Red Rings category and the 100% category takes twice as long to complete

I see what you mean, the grabbing of the 2nd Red Ring was timed so perfectly after I grabbed the one up, which I hadn’t really noticed until now.
Is that me, or the wisp announcer is the same of Kamen Rider W?

I haven’t got the slightest idea except that he is Japanese, you can always look up the credits though.

This is in the Sonic Rush Trilogy (Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure and Sonic Colors (DS))! Some of the sprites from the Advance Series were recycled however and there are some similarities You're welcome, and there are more runs to come which I currently live stream on weekends
Good job with this! I personally like calling getting every cutscene and S-Rank "200%", but I guess 100% makes more sense. Do you plan on figuring out if a TAS of this game could get the sub 1:40:00?

I have managed to update this with new tricks to a sub-1:40:00 during a marathon which beat my previous best at the time by over 3 minutes and still has room for improvement linked here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIuKrMudpprdlcY.html I think that for a non-TAS at the moment, a sub-1:35:00 is probably the best that could be done for the 100% category and sub-50:00 for the non-TAS All Red Rings category (Pretty much an intermediary for the Any% and the 100%). My Best All Red Rings Speedrun at the time Linked Here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qYSnrbiRm5DTqLw.html As All Red Rings is pretty much the backbone of 100% and is about half of the run, this will probably take priority in terms of TAS-ing as TASes can take quite long to create and that hasn't even been done yet, as for the 100%, would be significantly less than 1:30:00 at the very least and possibly around 40 minutes for All Red Rings TAS. It is exciting to find out how low the TAS can go to see the significant time drop through tricks which are impossible to do in real time, but will have to wait and see.

@@elricconry5589 Hi, I would recommend looking at the existing Any% TAS and it's submission notes and how to get the software for it and I think MathyFurret has made a TAS on Any% minimum jumps so I'd try asking him given your interest in the 100% TAS. Note that now All S-ranks are now required for 100% as it only affects the Special Stages and feels incomplete otherwise.

I used the Japanese cart instead as I prefer the Japanese Voices over the English.
So, I know you unlock infi-boost when you get all red rings, do you unlock anything for all s ranks?

No, I’ve only done it for style as it only affects the special stages and the fastest routes gets Cs and Ds; S-Ranks are trivial for the Acts and Bosses if done fast enough and is required for the Missions on the 2nd Attempt.

This is the message and art work you receive after collecting every Red Ring in the game. This also occurs in All Red Rings before I face the final boss which is a good intermediary between Any% & 100%. Pretty much all the extra art work in the gallery (That you unlock by collecting Red Rings and Story Completion) is fan made as I doubt that the developers were creating custom art and developing the game simultaneously.
The only thing that i dont like is that its in jappaneese😢

I happen to prefer the Japanese voice over the English voice as like in Sonic Unleashed it just sounds better for me. I do have the English cartridge but I don't use it anymore and is just sitting pretty
