yeah the comedy in this game is great

Is anyone going to talk about how a punch that flattens meteors, crushes buildings and destroys trucks and trains only gives a mugger a swollen face and black eye? A punch that powerful would make the mugger explode in pink mist.

It felt to me that each difficulty level was a different Blast Man or maybe different points along a timeline as he got stronger. That said, going from "mugger" to "semi truck" is a pretty big jump. The rest seems like a more natural evolution. Maybe they could have stuck something like a bear or gorilla in there.

@@KawaiiFaceman Yeah, most likely that would be, he hits the hoodlum with some kgs-force punches and knocks him out, but when fighting the meteor he uses his megaton punches. But for the game the t. Meassurement is shown anyway.

Funny that TCRF site shows that Sonic Blastman was originally a Superman ripoff but later redesigned to an original boxing glove-clad hero near the release deadline.

I played this game in Japan about 20 years ago. It made me laugh then, and it makes me laugh now. Just the “Do NOT...” advisory cartoons on the console were hilarious. One showed a drunk guy sloppily playing with bottle in hand, one showed a foot kicking the pressure pad, the last was of a baseball bat whacking the pad. A fourth picture showed a broken wrist, warning you to keep your wrist straight and rigid when making a punch. I think the game was fazed out due to broken bones.

In 1995 Taito recalled these arcade machines because some player injured himself and a year later they had to pay a 50`000$ fine

I used to play this at the local arcade as a kid, the 'no baseball bats' sign really sticks in the memory, haha. The animations are hilarious too. I remember feeling I had let down all these people in need when my 10 year old punches weren't up to scratch 😂. It was always satisfying to go back the next year though - a little bit bigger and stronger - to see some progression...not sure if I ever saved humanity from the meteorite though!

That's pretty cool. A game where you punch a bag and that's how you estimate your attacks. It's like your really sonic blast man

Worth noting that the SNES beat'em up does include the original punching game as an intermission mini/bonus game.
