It kills me that they put the Daytona USA Hornet in, but not Three-Seven Speedway, Dinosaur Canyon, or the Daytona USA Advanced course in. Sega screwed up on that one.

That's because the character of AGES is a SEGA tribute, not just the Hornet, and the gimmick of ASRT's new courses was the transformation mechanic - as far as I know, in all but the Classic Cup courses, you or the track itself will transform at least once. Fairly certain the devs even mentioned that this was what prevented a homage to Daytona USA's courses from becoming a new course in this game, and if not, it at least makes sense to me in the sense that none of the original courses offered any chance to transform at all. Before you ask, OutRun Bay could only get away with it because Sumo Digital's worked with the franchise before, and they turned the beach and ocean that's normally a background into part of the track. While I think it could be cool to have, I think I'm happy with the way AGES appeared in the game - it *was* the game's last unlockable character, after all.

What kills me is that SEGA acknowledges their LITERALLY immortal arcade game Wave Runner, but don’t use that as AGES’ Boat form! Boi, this is SEGA, not some Midway Speedboat racing Damned Torpedo-looking Dreamcast Controller!

In fact, the controller’s logo is actually changed to match the color used in a particular country, like if you own an EU copy, the swirl will be blue.

Love this game to death. Ages is absolutely amazing, especially the Hornet design.

This game was fantastic! The remixed SEGA music by Richard Jacques are one of my most played OSTs in the last years.

I agree! I have the PC version of this game now.

By that point, the team at Sumo Digital wasn't just ex-Gremlin staff (Top Gear, Lotus) that worked on the home ports of OutRun 2, but they also had ex-staffers from Bizarre Creations (Metropolis Street Racer, Project Gotham Racing, Blur) and Black Rock Studio (Pure, Split/Second); the effort greatly paid off with Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed. All things considered, it's one hell of an arcade racer and a love letter to Sega's history.

I love how they included the voice navigation system in the Burning Rangers level. The thing is though, Chris says things she doesn't in the actual Saturn game. Did they use voice clips that were recorded for the original game but weren't used, or did they track down Chris' voice actress and have her record new dialogue?

Yvette Lowenthal hasn't done much voice work (at least under that name) since the '90s. Maybe they managed to track her down. There's always the possibility that she's related to Yuri Lowenthal who is still very much active. In all likelihood, they probably recast the role using someone with a similar voice. I doubt we'll ever know for sure since the English cast went uncredited.

Look out for the legendary mascot Segata Sanshiro cameo riding a missile at 46:47.

the level at 15:20 is probably the best kart racer level I've ever played. It's got everything, and if you drift the waterfalls at the end and to tricks in the air while drifting you can pick up an insane amount of speed. 10/10

So much speed that you can shoot through the level geometry and get stuck, heh. That's why I purposely try not to go too fast through there.

I want this game so bad on PS5. The most underrated racing game of all time.

Making me want to break out my PS3 and play this, such a quality game.

I agree; it really does although I find some other modern games besides this one boring when comparing to old games I enjoyed playing many years ago, such as Monster Truck Madness 2, 4x4 Evo 2, Test Drive 6, Test Drive Off-Road 3, etc. But this one seems to be enjoyable! I especially like how they brought back the Hornet #41 stock car from the Daytona USA series.

This is my fav 1st Loving game of sonic racing so cool

Does the Sega Dreamcast's color swirl vary in the US and international versions of this game (just like the real Sega Dreamcast), or is there an option to change its color in all regional versions? Just curious.

I wish they released this version of this game in North America because it looks like a lot of fun. Edit (07/12/2018): I realized that there is a North American release for this version of this game, but sadly, here in North America, it's available exclusively on Steam as a digital game instead of a physical release, so I'll have to import the physical release from the UK or some other country. My mistake.

Racing Transformed is a fantastic racing game. I genuinely held it in higher regards than the Mario Kart games until 8 came along. It along with the introduction of Ages as a character showed the love and passion that was put into the game, which is why it sucks that Team Sonic Racing just sucked the life and soul out of it and made it "Another Sonic racer"

The desktop I used to record this video is fairly beefy (Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.2GHz, 16GB DDR4 RAM, GTX-970 FTW+), but it runs smoothly on even my more modest 7-year-old laptop.

Probably because Harrier wasn't represented as a racer, and the Space Harrier game itself has been rereleased numerous times under the Sega Ages label. Also fits the futuristic theme of the track.

I'm not using a mod. This is a fictional cup that I created based on franchises that appeared on the Saturn. The video is edited in such a way to further that illusion.

They dropped the ball with the new one. Got the new one for Nintendo switch and unfortunately there's no flying or boating nor killer content like this one.

While there is DLC in the game (Metal Sonic, Ryo, Yogscast, OutRun track), "Saturn Grands Prix" is not. It's just a theme I made up for this video.

It's the very last character you unlock in the campaign, which takes A LOT of time to do. If you have the PC version of the game, you can get it right away by downloading a 100% save file and placing it in the game directory.

concept? yes execution? no, except for the twister which is too weak and practically useless against bots and expert players, had it slowed down the target after hitting them it woulda been better
