Another Sonic Advance boss rush. Nothing too difficult here except the final stage which I recorded entirely (since the last boss is a pushover) and true final boss. While it is my favorite Sonic game on GBA, it also has some of my least favorite bosses (like Aero Egg). It was nice to play it again, though. Hope you like this video!

I hate that Egg Saucer & Egg-Go-Round boss fight in Sonic Advance 2 the most, quite difficult to avoid damage without taking any big risks. Later in Sonic Advance 3, the boss fights are all fun except for the one in Toy Kingdom while the Cyber Track is the more annoying gimmick to beat Eggman, Twinkle Snow is at least doable but those 2 you can't abuse Cream's chao - Cheese to make the boss fight 10x easier.

Advance 2 had the best boss battles. You weren't just standing around waiting for a weak point like a slow-mo, you were chasing Eggman all the way while he tries to keep you away like a Terminator 2 chase.

Yeah, loved the idea too. Sonic Heroes tried the same in 3D, but there is too easy.

I loved this game so much, the sense of speed in this game is incredible. That moment when you break the sound barrier, never gets old.

@@paulo547 Eh, I have a love-hate relation with this game. This was the second game I got for my GBA right behind Pokemon Sapphire. But I really didn't like the bosses all that much especially the second half, and the Chaos Emerald hunt for EVERY character was jarring. It has fun moments, but it has a lot of frustrating moments.

@@joegreen3802 The bosses wasn't really a problem for me, (except for that freaking 5th boss), still, I needed to watch a gameplay for the chaos emeralds, I couldn't get them if I didn't use internet. But I don't have a GBA, I played the game on emulator, which makes the game much easier.

The final boss of this game is a mixture of the three final bosses from the classic games: it has the moving piston/platforms from final zone (Sonic 1) the missile arms from the Death Egg Robot (Sonic 2) and the laser from the Kyodai Eggman Robo (Sonic 3 & Knuckles) (btw, True Area 53 shares lots of similarities with the Doomsday Zone from S3&K)

The basic formula of these boss fights fits the Sonic games so well. The games emphasize speed so having the boss fights involve chasing after the boss while he attacks you makes so much sense.

For almost all the bosses, I think Eggman would’ve liked to know the counter attack called “keep driving and ignore him.”

Oh my god I didn't know their was actual footage of this game on the internet because this is actually my first ever sonic game I ever played back in the gameboy ah man good times this really takes me back *sniff* :)

3 was probably the best in the Advance series, the levels were fun and the bosses were very unique but still felt very nostalgic.

Just think of how great these bosses could have been with some varied terrain and attack patterns. They’re awesome as it is, but they truly could have been something else on a more powerful system.

15:35 I find it awfully funny that the only reason we get to see Sonic's "hurt" animation is him tripping on a rising platform and not him taking any damage.

This may sound silly, but when Cream started crying when she realized her mom was abducted... I teared up a little.

This right here is how you do 2D Sonic bosses: The ability to damage the boss at practically all times as long as you're skilled enough to dodge its attacks. I remember pitching a fit over the Knuckles boss fight when I was younger.

The 2 things I loved about this game were: 1) Fighting most of the boss at high speeds 2) The way the characters run when you get them up to top speed

I must admit I really liked the GBA Sonic advance titles. Bought them all when they came out.

Yes! Sonic Advance 2, one of my favorite childhood games I played on GBA and the first game I ever played on besides Rayman 3. The rev up spin dash is different, there is no need to wind up at all, it's still the same speed from what I played and tested. Getting Chaos Emeralds is a pain in the ass to do, must collect all 7 emblems to access to them. Cream the Rabbit is definitely the most broken character in the game besides Sonic Advance 3. You can double tap the left/right directional button to speed up a little bit to make the boss fight easier to approach but this only works for Sonic only.

¿The Heck?

I heard that if you double tap the Right Button on the D Pad, you can boost towards the boss. I used that technique to speedrun the bosses.

I picked this up along with Mega Man and Bass the day I upgraded from a GBA to an SP in late March 2003. Definitely my favorite Sonic Advance game and I wish Sega would release a collection of the GBA/DS Sonic games with cleaned up sprites, music, and resolutions.

Indeed, along with Pokemon Sapphire a couple weeks later. Lots of great GBA games in 2003 and 2004. I since sold them all (wish I hadn't) but still have the boxes (Gunstar Super Heroes, Guardian Heroes Advance, Pokemon Saph/Silver, Blaster Master, Krazy Racers, Dodgeball, Drill Dozer, etc) and books laying around.

As far as I remember, you will hear the Pinch Mode Music when the Boss is nearly defeated.

i forgot if pinch mode is in sonic advance 1. because of eggman lifting himself with the hamer yknow

The music for the true final boss was my favorite Along with accidentally unlocking everything by turning on the Gameboy and shifting the cartridge at the same time.

This game's later bosses get extremely difficult, which is also the case for several other handheld Sonic games (e.g. the Sonic Rush series and the other Sonic Advance games). Those speedrunners make it look so easy. You also need ultra-precise timing to even _hit_ some of those bosses during the really short window when they're vulnerable.

How are these games? I do enjoy classic sonic quite a bit more than modern, how does it compare to the older Genesis titles if you can even compare them at all?

Well, nothing compares to Sonic games on Genesis. Still, these games are very good and mostly play like older titles. So if you like classic Sonic then at the very least you should try playing these. The music is not as memorable, though.

Of course. A couple of tracks from each Advance game. Compared to almost entire soundtracks from Sonic games on Genesis. Still proves that I am right.

jaybeeze tha gamer/rapper I'd say modern started with second Adventure game (first one being somewhat of a midpoint).

I just started emulating this game, and my god I cANNOT get past the second boss, so this is actually kinda inspiring lol.

Eggman, I believe you are driving the wrong direction...

I'm no speed runner but if you use sonic's air dash you can really shred these bosses in seconds and it's so much fun. I kinda really wish that air dash mechanic came back it's as much fun to span as the megaman x dash.

Fun fact about Sonic Advance 2: Hold up and you'll see a unique animation for each playable character
