Part of what made Sonic 2 unique was that Tails could not fly. It's neither expected or missed, and the flow of the gameplay will only be served better by staying true to it's original design choices.

For those of you wondering Tails couldn't fly in the oringinal sonic 2 But he could fly in the mobile remake and Sonic 3

Its only a demo so those were the only stages we had Emerald,chemical and hill top but its still being worked on

Those developers better get their speedy skates on and finish this quick-smart. They're taking far too long. The sooner we see the full game in HD, complete with special stages and 7 Chaos Emeralds, the better.
