Another spectacular reaction!!! Dimash was invited as a guest performer on Singer 2018, where he performed this masterpiece. He was also invited by Super Vocal Boys to sing in the championship round in Singer 2019. Their performance of a Queen medley was amazing to say the least!!!

His mother said in a interview songs go through his heart before he will perform them. Who are we to disagree? His slow vibrato is just killing.. This was a guest performance on The Singer 2018. They probably wanted to make up for not allowing him to win in 2017. Amongst the artists of 2018 that you saw in the green room were Tengri and Hua Chenyu. The latter is HUGE in China for being a unique oerformer and composer. See you and in the meantime stay healthy and safe!

Hello!!! Thank you! I would like to make some additions to your comment. It was a so called two-year concert as the 14. Episode of the Singer 2018. On 20. April 2018. Dimash, Tia Rey, Lion and Diamond from the finals of i am Singer 2017 were invited to this concert together with the finalists of the Singer 2018. They formed 3 teams. Dimash was in a team with Tengri and Wang Feng (we could see them sitting together and hearing to Dimash). The team with the most votes from the audience was the winner. And it was the team Dimash & co!!!

@@shrekswife2164 it was not a final episode but a so called two-year concert (14. Episode) after the final (13. Episode) of Singer 2018. And the participants were Dimash, Tia Rey, Lion and Diamond Zhang from the finalists of the year 2017 and all finalists of the year 2018. They formed 3 teams. The concert was organised as a contest between this 3 teams. Dimash was together with Tengri and Wang Feng in one of this teams. (You can see Tengri and Wang Feng sitting together in the video.) The team with the most votes from the audience was the winner. And: Dimash with his team was the winner of this contest!!! After this contest - at the end of this concert - sung the winner of Singer 2018 Jessie J with her friend...

Dimash is one of the kind in this world! about this cover, i heard that Richie did not permit him to sing this song in Dimash's concerts or anywhere else. i also though that Richie would be happy about his song being remembered by the young generation but no he did not. so sad. but anyway we can enjoy Dimash singing together with you here on youtube.

@@BelleNewman .. Thank you for that, I speak some Mandarin, and Russian (plus 4 European languages), but was stumped at what he said during the song when he said "I love you" in a language I'd never heard. Perhaps I should learn a little Kazakh.. Again, thanks for pointing that out.

Hello Soul LaVee, I love your reactions, because I love listening to eloquent and smart people. As a long time Dear (since 2017) , because I went all the road with Dimash since The Singer contest, I can tell you that there was a reason Dimash chose just this song by Lionel Richie. After The Singer contest Dimash disappeared from a public view for a couple of months. We had no info what is going with him except few messages from time to time on his Instagram and we were not even sure back then that it was Dimash who posted them. So we were woried and waited until he shows up. And he appeared as a guest after the finale of The Singer 2018. He especially chose this song as thank and gratidute for all the care that Dears showed towards him and that's why he sang: "hello, is it me you're looking for?", as acknowledgement that he knew we were looking for him. So this song had a special meaning both for him and us. He was back and we found him :) Just wanted to share a little backstory to it, because you wondered about it :) Yes you are right, he seals songs, after him there is no possible to do a cover of Dimash's version :) He is one and only. Such genius I think happens once in a century or less and we are lucky we can witness his growth and listen to his voice. He is on Mozart level. 32a34a just here-say, but D doesn’t sing it anymore after LR saw the performance. This video here is the only one of him singing this song. I believe L was not happy cuz D killed it.

I also was not the biggest fan of Lionel Ritchie’s version (although the best of LR’s music) and I was initially reluctant to watch this cover, BUT Dimash pulled me in and I have listened on multiple occasions now and I appreciate this version more every time. I agree - his melismas are phenomenal. The “flute-like” instrument is a sygyzby apparently and is known as a very lyrical instrument played in Kazakhstan and Mongolia. (If we still had phone books, he could sing that too!)

He most definitely is a treasure. That's why us Dears love him so much. He's a gift from God.

I also utterly adore this interpretation of a song I didn't particularly like. Dimash killed it and I'm gutted Lionel Richie has forbidden him to perform it any more.

One more thing, for me this song is also to some extend very strong political statemet. He connected very well known and popular American hit song with Arabic melismas. This melismas is the singing of muezzin in the minaret calling muslims for a prayer. I do not think any American singer would ever think of such connection, because American and muslim worlds just do not connect, but Dimash did it and it sounds beautiful.
