In 1982, the New York Staff Band was under the direction of its former cornet soloist, Derek Smith. The band recorded its Bravo! album that year, which featured two cornet solos by the bandmaster's son Phil. This is one of the two - "Songs in the Heart" by Erik Leidzen. The solo was written for Derek, and he had recorded with the band some years earlier. You might look up Derek's version. Both are splendid.
