The most heartbreaking scene of the entire movie is when Gizmo’s owner returns for him and he asks him if he can speak to them and in the most adorable voice possible he says “Bye Billy” still pulls on my heart strings every time I watch the Gremlins. Xc

This is the cutest scene of the entire movie!

When Gizmo is humming his tune he sounds a lot like a Theremin which is one of the main reasons I like this scene so much. Something about him seems so sad though. He was probably living inside the back of that shop for so long. Also get the feeling he’s had other owners before but was then always returned. He’s a sad and cute little being who’s a real outsider and he knows this. I think he just wanted someone to take care of him right. Don’t we all when we are smaller?

yeah but his genetic makeup seems designed to either kill him or wreak havoc on whatever continent (or planet even) he exists on. how could evolution cause a species to develop like this? just keeping one alive somewhere is a HUGE risk to every other creature around.. but he's cute so we will just be REALLY careful and hope nothing happens lol

@@swish007 I think he knows that though. He knows that he could be dangerous and that he's not like the others whenever others are made. He knows he has to be careful about when he eats and about not being too close to water. Also, Mr Wing does take career of him which is why he doesn't protest when he comes and takes him back though he also wanted to stay with Billy.

When he says “bright light, light bright” while in the trash can freaking out makes my heart sad cause it hurt him but it’s okay cause he’s adorable in his little Christmas hat.

True 3 will be cool funny and just as heartwarming as the two films

Gizmo is seriously one of the best creatures in cinema ever hes so full of love and joy and barneys peacful face listing to his song brings a feeling of calm

This movie has heart, the reason it has endured thru the years is it truly has heart and soul and can touch that human emotion. They really don't make them like this anymore

I guess the original script was much more horror based and had Billy’s mom getting killed and her head rolling down the stairs ..Feldman character was also supposed to die after being bitten on the neck. Billy’s dog as well . I’m glad they lightened the tone up a bit

Would've loved to have Barney howling the back-up vocals. They'd be a hit on KZread - if not that that would invite disaster by letting more people know about him - one of the reasons why he was in his box in the back room of the Chinese shop was so that fewer people would notice him.

the best scene!

This was shown in the TV advertisements for the movie. Nobody knew of the scary gremlins that would later on, show up in the film. Tons of people took their children to see it thinking it was a cute family film. Not long after outraged parents having to deal with terrified children, began to call and complain to theaters and to the media. This film along with a few others that came out the same year, are the reason the PG-13 rating was created in the US.

The funny thing is the final version of the film was still SIGNIFICANTLY more whimsical and harmless than the original script, which had more bloody deaths, less comedy, and a sadder ending where Gizmo dies and reincarnates into a butterfly creature.
