lyrics:
There's a great and a bloody fight 'round this whole world tonight
And the battle, the bombs and shrapnel reign
H*tler told the world around he would tear our union down
But our union's gonna break them slavery chains
Our union's gonna break them slavery chains
I walked up on a mountain in the middle of the sky
Could see every farm and every town
I could see all the people in this whole wide world
That's the union that'll tear the fas*ists down, down, down
That's the union that'll tear the fas*ists down
When I think of the men and the ships going down
While the Russians fight on across the Don
There's London in ruins and Paris in chains
Good people, what are we waiting on?
Good people, what are we waiting on?
So, I thank the Soviets and the mighty Chinese vets
The Allies the whole wide world around
To the battling British, thanks, you can have ten million Yanks
If it takes 'em to tear the fas*ists down, down, down
If it takes 'em to tear the fas*ists down But
But when I think of the ships and the men going down
And the Russians fight on across the Don
There's London in ruins and Paris in chains
Good people, what are we waiting on?
Good people, what are we waiting on?
So I thank the Soviets and the mighty Chinese vets
The Allies the whole wide world around
To the battling British, thanks, you can have ten million Yanks
If it takes 'em to tear the fas*ists down, down, down
If it takes 'em to tear the fas*ists down

By far the most moving part of the scene is the line “you can have ten million yanks, if it takes them to tear the facists down” because these characters have just gone through 2 episodes where they see how expendable they are, but know that what they are doing is necessary to fight a great evil. Not to mention it’s also the only nod to the Americans, and it feels backhanded by putting a number on how many lives it’s worth to expend, a underlying theme so far.

I was very fortunate to be the one guiding the bomb in this scene. Filming it we had no idea it'd end up in a montage and was a much longer scene, but seeing the final product with this beautiful rendition played over the top it looks perfect. Really love how they interjected this scene of the bomb with the line "The union that'll tear the fascists down".

@@IAmAFamel it's an actual ww2 song, so it has every right being in the show. It's a juxtaposition that shows the difference between this hopeful song and the harsh reality for the captured allied soldiers. While at the same point showing the brutal death toll that was accepted with the line "you can have 10 million yanks". There is no reason for you to moan about it.

the soviets did most of the dirty work they were already fighting for 5 years before the allies took one step in europe, they defeated complete german army's they lost 28 million people, compared to +- 40.000 americans. without the soviet there would had been no normandy landing even possible.

without laying down the heroism from the allied soldiers in west-europe but compared with what the soviets had to endure it was "just a mopping up" operation, the Kurks battle alone was 5x bigger then the normandy landings, and that was just 1 of hundreds large battles

@@rocksteadymilitaria541 While I agree with you challenging the guy above here who said he cringed, the Soviets were absolutely not "fighting for 5 years before the allies took one step in Europe." The Soviets were backstabbing Poland while working with the Nazis while the French and British were trying to stop the Nazis from breaking through the Ardennes. It was only after Hitler betrayed them that they started fighting, just a few months before Pearl Harbor. That being said, they did do the heavy lifting when it comes to ground combat from 1941-1945.
