I used to not like Poulenc, but this piece changed my mind.
This is literally the Paganini of the oboe. There’s like a lot of tricky little trickster traps for oboes in the first line alone

Yeah, Poulenc stole from himself constantly. I've found motives of his in 3 or 4 different pieces before--sometimes even in the same key. The second theme in the second movement is a nod to Prokofiev's flute sonata, fourth movement, I believe. (The piece is dedicated to his memory, after all.)
