The fact there are people in the comments justifying or partially excusing her death because of what she did is frightening. What’s worse are the people who go on to claim men are free to commit adultery without repercussions but women must be held to a different standard. Adultery is a moral wrong but to think it deserves death is nevertheless deeply disturbing.

It can be hard to distinguish the trolls from the truly twisted sickos. Many people can even be both. It's insane.
This episode was really frightening when you realize that in some parts of the world today it’s okay for a woman’s male relatives even her son who she birthed and nurtured (will also turn on her) to kill her in order to restore the family’s honor. Usually religion or culture is used as justifications to end women’s lives.

It’s not original; Clint Eastwood’s hired gun character says it in his anti-hero western film Unforgiven. He says it to his shaken young partner who has just killed a man for the first time. The man he killed had slashed a young prostitute in the face, permanently disfiguring her, after which her friends pooled their money to hire the hit men to kill him in revenge. The kid tries to reassure himself by saying, “Well I guess he had it comin’, didn’t he?” Eastwood replies , “We all got it comin’.” Great movie.

As far as I remember, her son did it to punish for adultery. He was radicalised by some pastor/cult leader who was on path for Holy war or something. They put the pastor on trial for conspiracy to murder or something like that, but he was found not guilty by jury.
@nicojones4272
2 жыл бұрын
Tldr; Son killed his Mother because she cheated (sinned) but was being indoctrinated by his Pastor, who then stands trial for manslaughter/an accomplice and is found not guilty. Jason attended a camp that indoctrinated children to believe in radical pro-Christian anti-Muslim ideals. He left college to minister to a group of druggies. His Pastor pretends to be his lawyer but is quickly found out. Jason is found competent to stand trial by Dr. Olivet despite his fanatical religious views (believes his Mother was unclean and died redeemed), but Jason's lawyer uses experimental medical reports to declare him incompetent. Jason's friend/camp member Brenda is picked up with a video camera with footage of Jason coaching basketball, thus proving him competent, along with chilling footage of the Pastor training a child army to hate "infidels" and seek out "pretenders", chanting "This Means War". Jason, still sure he's God's prophet, takes a plea deal for 15 years to life and admits God "speaks to him through the Pastor", told Jason his Mother was a "test" and advised 2 children to accompany Jason to witness the murder. In court, the Pastor says he didn't instruct Jason to kill the Mother, but that it was "God's Will" as she had a Muslim lover. Starts preaching on the stand, saying Jason's a Saint and he's raising a necessary Christian Army. His lawyer claims he has a 1st Amendment right to preach. Cutter argues abuse of power and says the Pastor's violent training led to Jason's actions. After 2 days of deliberation, a bible is found in the Jury room. Cutter claims this means they're tainted and wants a mis-trial. Judge says no. The defendant is found non-guilty on all charges. Connie says they didn't prove their case, Cutter wonders if the jury simply agreed with the Pastor.
