As a child, I listened to and sung this to myself as a comfort, thinking that my biological parents and siblings were out there somewhere. My biological father passed away when I was just over a year old, but I've since found my biological mother. This song is so rough on many adoptees, but it's also a song of hope for us. Love it!

I am very sorry for your loss! I lost a parent too. I always remember all the great memories I had with my mom.

In the 80s when I was very young, I would sit outside and sing this song to the sky. My Dad was a military man and went on deployment often. I was a "daddy's girl" and would miss him terribly.

You are so amazing and I'm so glad we finally got to work together!!! It was so fun, next time we gotta do it in person together! 😄

That was beautiful! It took me back to my childhood when I would watch An American Tail with my brother.

As a kid, this was my favorite movie and my mom would sing it to me every night. Even now I’m getting emotional and starting to cry love you, mom.

Wow She truly has the voice of an angel. And Peter is simply fantastic!

It's the belief in the better tomorrow that this song instills in me which is why I keep on trying.

Peter, I have been enjoying your music for some time now but this video really touched me. I always had a strong faith that God would lead me to that special someone that He was preparing for me. I like how this song mentions prayer, because I used to pray a lot for God to bring us together. I even wrote a song with the exact same title, "Somewhere Out There," which is perhaps why this song caught my attention. Three years ago I married a wonderful man who shares my faith. I am American and he is German, so he truly was in the "big somewhere out there," but against all odds we found each other. I just want to make a shout out to anyone who is still waiting for their true love, don't stop believing! Thanks, Peter, for making beautiful and meaningful music.

I keep listening to this version an it definitely has a happier tone and good or bad is not as reflective as other versions which tend to make get nostalgic, sentimental, pensive and often sad as I remember my past. I can see this as figure skating music.

I was 5 years old when my parents told me I was adopted. That night, this song came over the radio. I cried myself to sleep that night. When I was 19 I found my birth mother. We had a movie night, when this song came on in An American Tale, I leaned in and whispered "this is our song."

Loved this...I would sing this to my son when he was little....he's now 31

This song means so much to me. When I was a kid, An American Tail was one of my favorite movies, and I ALWAYS sung along to this song. My mom would join in and we'd do a duet. To this day I can't sing it all the way through without getting choked up. I have only happy memories associated with this beautiful song, but I still tear up. Thank you for bringing it to life in a gorgeous way--you are an amazing musician and singer and I love all your work. You've helped me re-experience my childhood in an amazing way. Thank you :-)

To Peter and Tiffany.... the combination of your voice on this endeavour is fabulous. Greater yet is visual differences in location, i.e. warmth and snow, water and trains, city and country, very influential with the visual presentation. just a wonderfully calming presentation, and relieves mental and emotional stress. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a "Hunchback of Notre Dame" medley with Evynne (from the musical not the movie). I’d LOVE it if you could include AT LEAST: “The Bells of Notre Dame,” “Out There,” “God Help the Outcasts,” “Hellfire,” “Esmeralda,” “Someday,” and “Made of Stone.” I don’t think I’d ever be able to stop listening to that.

Ben Gregoire Design I think in that era they were still kind of dead set on the voice actor doing the singing as well as talking, and in this case, it's a big song for a little kid to tackle. I always felt bad for him about it! I did wish they had allowed someone else to do the singing; it always took me out of the movie.

I actually appreciated the kids voices. Remember, in the movie it's not a romantic song. It's a brother and sister. It should feel kid-ish and awkward. That's what's so touching about it. :-)

Larry Garfield I liked that it was a kid in the movie too! It's a wistful song. My only issue was that he wasn't a very good singer. It took me out of the movie, even as a little kid, because the singing wasn't great. They could have swapped his voice for a more appropriate, more talented "singing voice actor." Matching the tone so THAT isn't distracting would have been helpful as well. We don't want to exchange one issue for another one!

Peter, sorry for taking so long to comment, but I really love this version of "Somewhere Out There" and the video!! It's a really great song and kudos to all your really wise fans who requested it. As usual, your multi-track, multi-Peter arrangement is really exceptional. You are SOOO incredibly talented at this and I really, really love listening! The Taylor Davis violin is also great as is Tiffany Alvord! Thank you!!

This movie came out when I was in grade school. That year, like 20 kids performed it for the talent show. A few on piano, some singing, one on the recorder... THE RECORDER! WHY MUST I RELIVE THIS NIGHTMARE!?! You know I love you, Peter. :)

I grew up with the An American Tail movies as well :) I love An American Tail and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West a lot! I still have them on VHS as well. They're my favorite movies of all time!
