I hope the next game has as many sea creatures as it does fish and bugs with more of all three types of animals being added, and I think that maybe adding a gem and mineral section to the museum would be interesting and the models that you get of fish and bugs should expand to sea creatures also and you should be able to put them in the museum next to where the animals are displayed

I just started playing New Horizons this year. I appreciate all the new stuff they added, but it feels like they took something away too. Compared to New Leaf, it's like most of the soul was sucked out of the game. It took a long while before villagers repeated dialogue in New Leaf, but in New Horizons, you can hear the same dialogue not only in the same hour, but even repeated from a different character as well. New Leaf also had so much charm to it. For the next game, I really hope they can being back the life into the game that Wild World and New Leaf had.

Yeah. I very quickly fell out with NH because of this. I like the villagers, their quirkiness, attitudes, all the dialog, the gofer quests, so most of the soul was gone for me as well. I think the GC one was probably the best for me, with NL following.

GC just feels like, a bit more charming to me somehow. maybe because it's rawer, or something about the personalities. I'd say least try it if I've made you say that. definitely wouldn't be offended if you felt differently, but lmk if you do!

New horizons was the second physical game i bought for my switch about 3 or 4 months after i got my switch

The LEGO sets being so weirdly timed is probably mostly LEGO's fault. It takes years for them to design sets, and then mass produce them.

I think Nintendo was surprised by the success of ACNH. To the point that they probably decided it’s as best to take a step back and reevaluate the direction to take the franchise in. And let’s be honest, when you really start to load your island up with decorations it turns into a laggy, pop-in filled mess. I’m assuming they didn’t want to add any more to a game that already feels like its hit its breaking point on a technical level. I’m sure we will get a proper Animal Crossing title around the launch of the Switch 2 that can take advantage of better hardware and be designed with players decorating outdoor spaces as a key feature.

It doesn’t even get laggy with decorations, it’s just slow a start up. Which was there before even 2.0, I’m pretty sure Nintendo never anticipated to updated New Horizons for long. Of course a new title will come when a new system comes but expecting it as a launch title is silly. Last time people expected this they got bitter waiting for New Horizons.

Which is a shame, because this game would have NEVER been this popular if it came out at any other time. The only reason so many people were on board with the pretty sorry state of this game, was because millions of people worldwide had nothing better to do. Another game like NH won't even reach half the sales

It could also be an out of touch executive driven decision. This is our best selling title, keep advertising it, but don't actually support it. Its a shame, because at the end of the day the way ACNH is treated compared to Pocket Camp is just sad. One should not assume that business decisions always make sense. I have had to make countless products that should have never been because someone in charge feels they know better than everyone else. I'm gonna hold off on any future console AC titles until I see they will get as much or more as Pocket Camp. And fans should send that message!

@@tylerwhittemore3908 Always good for those who enjoy it! But I've played enough mobile games that I don't enjoy juggling piles of pointless materials to grind for gacha capsules! Not everyone has that type of time or money as well. I'm guessing that if Nintendo didn't seem to lock out play styles and items from ACNH based on what is in Pocket Camp, I wouldn't have as much animosity for pocket camp!

it's due in part to ACNH and ACPC being developed by completely different departments at Nintendo with what one can only assume is little to no contact with each other. NDCube (who also make Mario Party) and the Smart Device Department develop Pocket Camp and EPD 5 develop NH. The problem with this is that EPD 5 are also the sole developer (fish pun not intended) of Splatoon, which Ntdo likes to focus on because it's A) their only shooter, and B) their only internally developed E-sport game. to me, it seems like an easy solution to move AC over to NDCube, who have developed all of Animal Crossing's spin-offs so clearly know the AC style well and are clearly putting out lots of content for ACPC and Mario Party, and keep EPD 5 for Splatoon

this is how Nintendo always handled their games, all animal crossings prior was the same. they just release it as a one time purchase and then some updates and thats it. Pocket Camp is a live service model, so they're obviously going to update that, its one of those things where the finances from that goes to development of the next games for the next console without that toxic microtransaction model bleeding over to the mainline games. if anything, going for a live service, dlc and updates all the time for a mainline console animal crossing is a bad move. thats something EA would do with their greed. Nintendo keeps it pure and traditional like how they've always put out their games in the past. ACNH already has so much stuff and so many replayability, this excess wanting more and claiming "its not enough" is ridiculous and just entitlement.

in a perfect world they would see any success with these "late" promotional stuff as a "Fine ... lets put the B-Team in charge of a small DLC" and then the B Team looks at each other uses the smirking emote and makes a DLC that adds - more Cranny upgrades - endgame island editor (lets say 10k miles to unlock) - adding Blanka as event character for the 1st of april (without telling anyone) - new mystery islands - 3 new themed sets of furniture - some decoration - and new mini games (such as hide and seek - and Net Tag with your villagers) - and re adding all the tropical fruits from new leaf (for balance they only sell 50 bells more then your native fruit but can be given to brewster for him to turn into syrup to add to your coffee aswell as fruit themed items from him by doing so) - all rounded up with a theme of treasure hunting on the island tours (you find treasure maps on the ticket islands and can give them to cap who then brings you to a special treasure island that has a unique piece of "treasure furniture" burried somewhere) and they call the DLC "Fruity Treasures" i feel like this (or something similar) would truely round up everything - it adds stuff to islands which is the entire theme of the game - it adds things most people wanted since the beginning such as more cranny upgrades - new minigames are always a delight - and new sets where you have to do special things each day to unlock the set pieces but it isnt "too much" meaning you dont feel like you HAVE to buy the DLC

I love that there’s a Bajillion villagers in animal crossing but in doing so Nintendo is sacrificing quality for quantity and I think that a game that has fewer villagers that are more flushed out as individuals would do well with some demographics although they’re probably flame wars over whoever is left out of the game

Personally I feel like animal crossing dying off at least in conversation may have to do with how the game even now feels unfinished in a sense. The complete lack of varied villager dialogue, the shop only getting a single upgrade, and it is clear the island designing took center stage which resulted in stuff like engaging multiplayer just not existing resulting in the fans to make their own game modes to get anything out of the game outside of designing their own island.

I know there was an animal crossing animated movie back in the day, but I think it would be cool if they did a new anime that was a longer form series and that it should be released internationally and the best way to do that would be if the show was connected to whatever game comes next

Probably just pushing animal crossing stuff so more peope get into the mobile game where they charge for almost everything. People love buying the fortune cookies in that game. The short time i played, i put a ton of money trying to get items in the fortune cookies.

I doubt it honestly. None of this promotes Pocket Camp at all. Most of the crossovers and events are themed around New Horizons so Switch focussed. No mention of Pocket Camp anywhere.

If true, they would've mentioned it somehwere, definitely since there's so many cool items and clothing you can only really get in pocket camp. Definitely if they wanted the customers to focus on something that had new stuff and frankily, better tournament events while waiting for a possible new gamefor the new console. I also play the game, and honestly have been tempted but I've never spent any money on it.

UGH. I hate that I’ll have to buy ANOTHER new console or handheld just to play a dang game. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I started playing Animal Crossing on my Switch again for a few weeks now, not because of Lego, special events or anything else, I chose to play the game myself

Frankly, the way they've treated us players is just disrespectful. Still playing. Just supremely disappointed. Bob's gang.

It is up to use as the players to keep this game alive, I stream animal crossing every week and my whole thing is making to stuff for us to do, this will be my third island summer games and my third season of football, coming up. This is one of the best games ever , and we have the best sandbox with 5000 items, there is still so much to do in this game.

This, people forget just how unprecedentedly massive the game actually is and act like no more updates in a primarily single player game means they can't keep playing, the game is still there and there's still things for everyone to do

I’m nearly convinced that new horizons is already pushing the limits of the switch software. I think they’ve been putting all their efforts into the next game since 2021, and my dream is that we get the new Animal Crossing as a launch title for the Switch2 😍

I don’t think they expected players to lean as heavily into the island decorating / terraforming aspects. You can sort of tell because the Nintendo designed islands feel very sparse. And you hit the limits of what the games engine can realistically run pretty quickly. It gets really laggy and hits hard with pop-in. I agree with the next game being designed for new hardware to take advantage of what players want to build.

I just hope, along with the deisgn aspect of the game, the villagers personalities and fun dynamics will be putto better use, and get to do more things in the game; otherwise it would just feel like New Horizons, just no on an Island.

Mr. P. D. Pie and his family showed the Animal Crossing exhibit at the aquarium, it was so neat. :). I've never seen live sand dollars before, and they even had a giant isopod on display.

For the animal Crossing fans who grew up on wild world & the game cube version and the Wii version, the Nintendo switch version feels like a slap in the face. There was so much content in the Nintendo cube version it kept me busy for hours and hours and weeks and weeks after school when I was in high school and you just don’t get the same experience from the Nintendo switch version. Just like someone else said the dialogue on the Nintendo switch version is very different compared to how the dialogue was on the older versions I also liked the older versions because you paid $30 I got all the content at once no waiting years for updates you just had to unlock it in the game

I'm hoping they're trying to get animal crossing hyped back up for another installment. If any of the rumors are true about what to expect in the next game, it's going to be HUGE!

I honestly hope the next game brings in more villager minigames, a bit more personality/dialogue, and has a "happy home" section early in its life to unlock villager home customization like we have with the vacation home dlc, I honestly loved that dlc and love beig able to give some of my villagers more thematic houses to fit the version of them in my town.

Would be nice if they added in personality to the villagers, like in the older titles. And go back to the series' roots with giving you less control over the location. New Leaf had a good balance of letting you change things, but still kept some random elements like where villagers move to. But I'm sure they'd add in something new. Maybe a proper Animal City would be a good next step. You have a small town village you live in and have some control over. But then there's the city which largely ebbs and flows beyond your control.

The fact that i joined when there were no updates, i just didn't really think anything. Ssooooo yeah, what were the times before the quiet era like? I still really love this game though

The Animal crossing LEGO Sets are scam.. like many LEGO Sets today.. lower quality, lower bricks but higher prices...

There is so much more possible for ACNH, feels like it is incomplete. Would be awesome if Nintendo would finish it, but since they won't, would be cool if someone else would.

I had to stop playing coz I literally can’t bare the music any longer. I wish they had gone with more chilled music from the start like Stardew valleys music.

I also despise the NH soundtrack, so I always listen to the older games while playing. Honesty all of them are really good so just listen around for what you like ^^ I like acnls 4am and 11am music, esp the rain versions. I love animal city from accf (not very chill but somehow less aggravating than acnh's). And acww has super great day music

As I have seen Nintendo do this a lot since 2016's Pokemon Go, all these events and things are just hold offs until they make something big with there main Series games. We had Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, the Welcome Amiibo update, and Isabelle in Smash while they worked on something big which gave us ACNH. Same thing with Pokemon Go and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as well as Let's go Pikachu and Eevee to hold us off for a new gen main Series game. Also giving us a 3D sidescroller Metroid to hold us off until the reveal of Metroid Prime 4. See Nintendo's "hold off" pattern?

I’m hoping the next game goes back to the WW/CF characters and the customization from NL. NH was a lot of fun but o go back and play WW and NL way more often than NH

This is really interesting. I only bought a switch to play ACNH, and that was last year, way after the hype died down. And I’m sad Nintendo is going to ignore us until the next game. But I do appreciate the Aquarium experience is coming to the US

I remember coming up with an idea for a new Animal Crossing game a while back, that included a prediction that the game would come out for the next Switch console in 2026. I still think that's a pretty reasonable guess for a release timeline. (Unfortunately, I can't find a record of that old game prediction; I think I only posted it to Twitter, and I deleted my Twitter account last year.)

I would not be surprised if Nintendo silently releases a small update to ACNH, nothing major, just a few of the villagers that weren't transferred over from New Leaf (like the missing Octopus), and maybe a couple of new ones, with a few new items to get in the game as well. Particularly considering that a number of Let's Play channels that used to play the game have started to do so again. This would drive the hype for the series, which, let's face it, is now one of Nintendo's flagship titles.

With The Halloween one, you could get tricked by your villagers in New Leaf, which isn't a part of New Horizons the same with playing rock paper scissors in NL, which isn't part of NH either

As someone who has also played Pocket Cammp I feel like the new game will be more like that with DLC content constantly being sold. They make more money that way. I mean Pocket Camp has really cool items and packs but you gotta pay if you want the coolest stuff. I mean I was able to get some stuff without paying but the grinding is hard and repetitive so people might go the easy route and just pay for them.

I miss ACNH update :( I would so love new trees and bugs, fishes ... That would make me play again.

Ok, but you know what would be cool in ACNG (Animal crossing new game?)? Caves! Or, at least adding overhang abilities for terraforming! Just imagine… Need I say more?

What's even weirder is the fact I walk in target today and find Nintendo decided to come with a carging dock for there joy cons. yes. towards the golden years of the switch, why did Nintendo just now release a charging dock for there joy cons when so many third party ones are being sold since the console first came out? idk I think the new console will just reuse the joycons and were literal just going to get the switch 2 tablet cause I see no other reason why Nintendo bothered to invest money making a charging dock unless the switch 2 is going to use the exact same joy cons it would honestly be the first time in history I believe a game system does not includ the controllers.

Animal Crossing is like... _the_ game to do several years (~5 - 10) of persistent small content updates. Like imagine if they made something more like previous entries (New Leaf, Wild World, Gamecube) and just slowly trickled in new content over a decade until it was really full of content, or even large substantive paid DLC packs. Just leaves question marks in my head when indie games like Isaac can do this for over a decade to the point where it truly does feel endless, but Nintendo "Japan's Richest Company" can't figure out the demand for a popular persistent game to get little quality updates and content drops for more than a year and a half, especially when there are so many good ideas left on the table.

I really hoped we could have the Zelda Villagers and items. Upset that they never gave us Wolf Link. A last minute update for that and a few other things that fans have asked for over the years. That way the game will be a little better before it's forgotten forever. It's a shame because it was such a successful game and they promised 3 years of updates but we didn't get that.

I spent so much time looking for Zucker and Apollo that I can't imagine moving onto a new game 😩

I think that’s very unlikely honestly, they wouldn’t have done these collabs without seeing the huge success of the game first. New Horizons was a gamble to them.

I wonder if it's to see how much brand power animal crossing still has🤔

I think the least they could do is another drop of furniture and cool decorative items, considering they said that they would keep updates going for a few years.

A new Animal Crossing game with the new console would be so smart for Nintendo. Personally, it would be the game im most excited for when the console comes out.

I think Nintendo misunderstands. I still love this series. I still plan on getting the next game. But they dropped the ball on this game in particular. There are so many things I wish were in the game and don’t get me started on the house! I’m glad people can still find interest in the game, but the few things I like about NH don’t justify me continuing to play.

I *pray* that some of the soul from the older games comes back… I miss it… My first proper gaming console was the switch (I was too young to really like or understand games before that) My first animal crossing game was new horizons, and I thought it was the best game ever! I found out more about the older games and I truly feel robbed. I want to experience the older games and what they had to offer. This also goes for other mainstream games but…. Why do so many Switch games feel so lifeless compared to their installments on other consoles? This is not all of them, but it’s just a little odd…

I hope they make a Lego version of Biff’s house! He’s my favorite animal crossing character!

In all honesty, I liked New Leaf much more than New Horizons. New Horizons was sooo overwhelming with the amount of choices, and the main pull for new horizons was that you could customize the island, but there wasn’t much there outside of that. I hope they go back towards the older games if they decide to make any more. I kind of liked having more limited choices but getting to have more experiences and events and such in the game. New leaf was my favorite because it had the best blend of customizing and unique things. Second favorite would be the first animal crossing where you were just given quirky experiences and had to figure everything out on your own. Nothing was super easy to get so you had to actually work for it. Which for a game makes it more enjoyable in my opinion.

Could they be re-releasing New Leaf to Switch?

I’m sorry to say that I bought all the Lego sets they have so far (they came out just in time for special occasions like my 51st birthday😂) and I’ll get the other 2 when they release… Honestly, I don’t know how I’d feel if they came out with a new game… I’ve invested over 2500 hours in this game, started playing it on launch day, put so much time and care into my island, relations with my villagers… To just toss all that for a shiny new game would be sad. I don’t think I could do it.

mostly quality of life updates would be nicer than some Lego co-operations and stuff
