Something DANGEROUS Is Threatening the Southern Baptist Convention

I’m a Southern Baptist and I was at the annual meeting in New Orleans in 2023. It was my first time as a messenger of my church and I was the only messenger sent. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the meeting and I left greatly encouraged and informed. I voted for the Law amendment that Mohler was speaking of and the amendment needs one more vote of approval by the messengers again in Indianapolis in order for it to be enshrined into our constitution. The amendment states that if a church wishes to be in friendly cooperation with the convention they must hire only qualified men to be pastors. After witnessing the overwhelming majority of people vote to keep Saddleback and Fern Creek out of fellowship with the SBC, I believe the messengers will vote to solidify the Law amendment. As a Southern Baptist, please pray for us as we make this decision and pray that we follow what God’s Word says concerning the role of women in the church. Pray that we honor women while also clearly and definitively protect ourselves from any future threats of theological drift.

If the church goes belly up (perhaps because of all the lawsuits that will keep piling up regarding the scandals of child molestations and cover-ups) all those church leaders will have to go out and get real jobs. The job of deluding people about the existence of imaginary beings has a pretty grim future. Every day people are leaving the churches and declaring themselves agnostic and atheistic. This trend shows no sign of slowing down. I find it hilarious.

It’s an internationally-based drama that earns 4.5 stars on Amazon. Readers rave about it. One reader writes: “An attractive female pastor is imposed on a conservative Baptist church in rural Georgia and all hell breaks loose.” I understand Beth Moore read the book and loved it. This is EXACTLY what the church I left three years ago did to justify female pastors. “Is that what God REALLY meant about church leadership, or was that just for the people of that time period”. THE CHURCH was working to get people to doubt what God MEANT. It was SHOCKING that only 18 members out of 800+ had a problem with it and left.

Women cannot preach. We are coheirs of salvation yes. But God is God and designed it this way. My husband doesn't treat me as inferior. But when we disagree I let him lead. * (NOT perfectly though) ! We need to pray hard . And IF the SBC falls...well then we pray for true Bible believing followers to go to a true Bible believing church and pray for the salvation of everyone. I recently quit a very part time job bc the "church" I was working for had a woman interim pastor and was open to women pastors . I didn't know this when initially taking the role (part time accounting). But then the Lord brought it to my attention and I had Zero peace about staying . So I quit, and gave 2 months notice. Its very hard to follow the Lord. But remember this is not our home. Its not our home. We are just passing through as literal strangers . Everyone who is truly born of God will follow His Word.

Priscilla preached in Acts 18:26 An unnamed Samaritan woman preached in John 4:28-30 Paul left Phebe to preach in his place in Romans 16:1-2 The Bible gives examples of women preaching, so are you saying the Bible is wrong? The same books that say women should NOT preach also say women should wear head-coverings, which were full-length veils. Do you wear your veil in church, or do you ignore that particular verse? The verses that speak against women preaching are PAUL's words, not God's. Are you placing Paul above Jesus? You shouldn't, since Paul himself let a woman preach (in Romans 16:1-2) Paul also says women should be silent in church, then immediately says women CAN pray and prophesy in church (which is the opposite of silence) as long as they wear their veils. Paul's instructions are contradictory, and they are NOT God's words. He makes that clear. So, if the Bible flip-flops and shows that women CAN preach and says that they CAN'T, all you're left with is what the MEN in your church are telling you.

If people think that's an easy job, they are either deluded, or doing it very wrong. Jesus taught us that to lead means washing everyone's feet, the top of the hierarchy is the one responsible for everyone and must serve for them to the point of sacrificing all that they are for those they lead. The nice place to be is actually at the bottom in the kingdom, the top gets harder and harder with more and more pain and stress. (at least on earth) Too many see the top of the ladder as a place to aspire too, when the bottom is where the people kick back and have grapes fed to them...

I am a lifelong Methodist and have seen the damage done to our churches. We call them "church-killers". There is never any growth when the woman pastor comes and usually the church just goes down and down. The ladies might mean well, but they often have that "hear me roar" chip on their shoulder and it just kills everything God wants to do in the church. I have known hundreds of Methodist pastors, men and women, and I have yet to see a single example of effective ministry taking place in a church under a woman's pastoral leadership.

If we stray from that, we stray from agreement with God and His Word. God is the creator of life and put Adam at the head of the family. Satan has been trying to overthrow God's plan since then. Satan will not relent from his sin. I will not relent from the truth of God's Word. Stay true or you will eat the forbidden fruit like Adam did. I am standing on God's Word. Even before Peter came along, Babel had happened. The Bible was written in certain languages and the only way we can understand and accept what it says is when we have the Holy Spirit. Are you saying the Pope or the RC now dispenses the Holy Spirit? Or that in the RC there is universal agreement without the threat of anathema? It is such a tired silly line to think because we have denominations we can’t understand the Bible at it’s basis. Go read history, many popes and priest had no idea of what scripture taught. Only repeating tired lines they’ve rehearsed. Away with your one universal church theory not backed by scripture. Hopefully we meet in heaven. The same hermeneutic that is used to promote women elders is the same hermeneutic that was then used to promote lgbt in the church. In a majority of cases, when a church or denomination caves on the issue of women as pastors, it isn't too long before they begin justifying homosexuality. In the New Testament, Priscilla took Apollo aside and taught him. I'm pretty sure they could have found a man to do that. It was deemed important enough information to be recorded though. I highly doubt it was the only instance. Women were an integral part of historic Judaism as prophets, and had many roles in the New Testament Church, including assisting the apostles in the proclamation of the Gospel, day and night. It was likely to be more of a supportive role than a teaching role, but obviously teaching was not out of the question when it was necessary. Roman and Jewish society, not to mention others, had clear delineation of male and female roles. That acceptance and understanding was a huge part of the fabric of their society, whether they followed the biblical laws or not . Slavery was also an important economical factor in these societies, not condemned by scripture, and laws were made for the equitable treatment of slaves, or the indentured. In the 21st "Gentile" society where we live, our social structure isn't as strictly delineated and each gender can take up a cross role without issues, based on their personal preferences and situation. Also our society is not based upon Old Testament laws, nor do we understand or practice the social policy of temporal indebted servitude or slavery. We live differently, then the Israelis, the Romans, the Greeks, the Assyrians, the Mesopotamians, the Babylonians, etc.. It's up to us to decide how we're going to live in accordance with what we believe the scriptures teach us for our day and time. Whatever we choose, should be done in faith, holiness and the desire to serve our Lord.

It's interesting how Satan has not changed his ways since the beginning of time. He always seems to use the same tactics which he did with Eve to go against the word of God. "Did God REALLY say?" The slithering serpent used the slippery slope tactic to deceive Eve, and Adam gives in to Eve which brings forth sin and the fall of man. Adam and Eve should have said what Jesus said when tempted by the devil while fasting in the wilderness. Jesus repeatedly quoted Scripture and proceeded to rebuke the devil. That is a great lesson for all of us. The Scripture is crystal clear on the women's role in a church. God did not make vague and obscure for good reason. But man in his sinfulness and pride will not accept the authority and perspicuity of God's word. We must not go along with the cultural winds of our times, try to somehow fit God's word into this culture and not expect to drift into apostasy. God's word is and should be the final authority, or else we make ourselves and the culture to be "god" which is idolatry.

The question of whether the Bible forbids women from being pastors is a topic of theological debate and interpretation. I will list some passages in the Bible that are often cited in discussions about this issue. 1 Timothy 2:12 states, “I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.” This verse is frequently referenced by those who believe that the Bible prohibits women from serving as pastors, while others say it's only Timothy's social environment and personal belief. However, other passages suggest that women have played significant roles in ministry and leadership within the early church. For example, Acts 2:17-18 mentions that God will pour out His Spirit on all people, and Acts 21:9 describes Priscilla teaching Apollos, an eloquent speaker and well versed in the Scriptures. Although Priscilla wasn't a pastor she did teach a man the finer ways of God. I'm sure this wasn't an isolated incident as it gathered enough importance to be recorded. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 also mentions that women should keep silent in the churches and not teach or assume authority over a man. Again, opponents say this is a command based on the OT law and on the social structure in place at the time. Women can't even speak in church is not viewpoint many can swallow. On the other hand, Galatians 3:28 states, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” This verse is often interpreted to mean that all believers have equal status in Christ, which some argue includes the right to serve as pastors. Personally I'll accept which way the SBC goes. My aunt was a God-fearing pastor for over 50 years, teaching the poor with her husband who was also a pastor. They were never wealthy, always serving, and always preaching the pure milk of the Word. After my uncle and aunt died, their son continued as the new pastor serving the same poor community. I also knew other women teachers through the years, but these were old school Godly women whom the men definitely could learn a thing or two. In my opinion God anointed their Ministry and lives because they were not seeking the world's Goods but rather the holiness that comes from Walking With Jesus.
