Here's a brilliant idea for the "Rey" movie. Start the movie with her having mysteriously vanished. Then have someone find her halfway through the movie only for her to say that she's a failure and just wants to die. Then finish the movie with her suddenly dropping dead for no apparent reason. Everyone would love that!

The best thing might be for it to fail. The rumor mill is that thr future of the Sequels hinge on how well the Rey movie does. Apparently it's a last ditch effort to make the Sequels work because they've sunk so much I to them already and they really don't want to spend the money to retheme Galaxy's Edge.

It’s not going to. There are a very small amount of people that are going to pay money to see this.

At this point, I don't believe that I have better ideas for Star Wars stories than current Lucasfilm does, I KNOW I do.

I think I suggested this before, but I feel that the movie should 'admit' to Rey's lack of a struggle and create an interesting plot by showing Rey's unfamiliarity with failure causes her to be an ineffective teacher when her students don't immediately get it.

The hoops you'd have to jump through to satisfy OT fans aren't ones Disney would even be willing to contemplate (giving her a challenge, maybe showing her powers were due to force ghosts and she has to relearn, or revealing "Luke" wasn't actually Luke...there aren't a lot of good options). This idea belongs in the trash bin; they should just say there are many versions of myth, the only real canon are the films George made, and that you can interpret whatever you want beyond that. Just take a mulligan and start over and/or move on, but either way, a Rey movie is almost certainly going to be a disaster.

It could’ve easily been her learning from. Luke & Luke choosing her to lead. It didn’t have to be this way. Disney chose for it to be this way & the announcement of this film really makes me feel like they are fully intent on erasing Luke’s legacy. I would prefer to be optimistic, but I can’t see how.

One of the biggest problems with Rey is the fact that she had no struggles throughout the sequels. Everything was just given to her. That being said, she has nowhere to go. She’s already at the pinnacle. If they can’t find a way for her to have something to overcome, it’ll just be sequel trilogy redux.

They couldn’t even let her struggle in learning to use the Force. Compare Luke in ESB with Rey in TLJ. Completely, different character development. Rey was literally written like some bad fanfic.

The only time she was “defeated”, she killed Kylo in a rage and then took “backsies”, changing nothing…

The most badass scene from mando was Luke at the end of season 2. It was all over the internet. One of the best scenes from Book of Boba was Luke training Grogu. It was great to see him in his element. The best way to get more butts in the seats is to give us more positive Luke scenes that promotes his legacy that KK squandered due to greed and foolishness. This can be done with flashbacks.

To me, it's unacceptable for Luke to end up where he did and Rey essentially take over his role and legacy. They'd have to completely scrap the sequels to bring people like me back. Flashbacks of Luke won't cut it since we all know where it ends up.

Honestly, if I ONLY hear good, great, or AMAZING things about it, I'll probably watch it. Especially if both Thor and Jeremy Jahns say in their spoiler-free review, "You should go watch this movie." But if only one of them does? I may skip it completely. That's how bad Disney has effed up. Before I wouldn't need like 100% of reviews to be Good+ lol. Hell, over half could be bad, and if JJ was like, "It's bad, but watch it anyway." I probably would. Not even just with Star Wars... but now? I need everything to be Good+ or I won't even watch STAR WARS. Which used to be my #1 thing. I liked it more than most people. If you were like, "Alright, so erase Star Wars from existence... or half the Earth's population?" I'd be like, "Keep Star Wars." But not anymore. Even though people suck lol.

The whole intended designed narrative of her character was a mistake to begin with by it's founding especially after it played a part in this tarnished version of Star Wars profaning the art and narratives that the old staff had already established and Disney knew that and they desired to uproot everything by reason of their own brightness and enmity towards the old work and art. Outright refusing to be faithful at all and refusing to ever repent for it and restore it to it's original state. Such faithlessness, defilement, and twisted mocking fruits deserves nothing in return by pure stand fast rebuke. You reap what you sow.

It needs to do the impossible: actually get made instead of canned like most other projects. 😂

Honestly, I'm not sure. KK was insisting the Rogue Squadron movie was still in development for ages, but it recently got cancelled (I think).

It's far too late to salvage Rey as a character. The moment she beat Kylo in TFA with no training, holding a lightsaber for the first time, it was all over.

The best thing the Rey movie could do is bring Luke back to life and have him rebuild the Jedi Order. I'm not delusional enough to think that'll actually happen, but that's the best thing that could happen

Why would that be the best thing? If that was to happen you guys will still find some bs reason to complain. Making a movie about a character designed to be a successor just to bring back her predecessor to do the work she's to do as a successor. Sounds like a genius plan.

Honestly if Disney reallyyyyy wants to have more successful and profitable star wars films, literally all they have to do is make movies in the Old Republic Era and have either A: a SWTOR megafan or B: someone who worked on the lore and story of the old republic games working on it and giving creative advice and direction to whoever the director is.

Disney could start a whole new saga based off the kotor timeline and get a film trilogy out of the first kotor game. Another trilogy with kotor II, and the cancelled kotor III with the ancient true Sith. That’s a road map for 9 films, and if they really wanna milk it they can also do prequel films based off the Mando wars. Give the Skywalker saga a break and let’s start the Revan saga.

Eh. Specifically the KOTOR games, imo. I think SWTOR ruins Revan. It should be disregarded mostly. Or, at least, if it's canonized, heavily tweak Revan's story when canonize get it. The rest is probably fine or mostly fine as is.

I think something that could be done easily is giving Rey a weakness - being a bad teacher. She doesn’t know how she does half her nonsense so how is she supposed to explain anything. It’d be an opportunity for some growth (after 3 full movies lol)

Tie-in with Filoni's not-quite-Heir to the Empire movie, it turns out that it was Luuke on Ach-To, and the real Luke is still out there, and helps Rey rebuild the Jedi. Maybe even give Luke a line about how he thinks of "that guy" as "Maybe he's Jake Skywalker or something."

Luke's new Jedi order was supposed to be seen in the Mandowerse. Heard mentioning about the Luke and Grogu series, even if some mean it would have been included in the Rangers series. But Kathleen refused to have a series where Luke was a main character, that is the reason why Grogu went backto Din. Din said " I did my part, but he came back" when Greef ask, why Grogu is still with him. I like Daisy and I was hiped that we would have her as a femal lead and hero. But sadle scripts and directions wanted something else. I think this movie will flop.

Before the Expanded Universe became Legends, I read some books called the Jedi Academy Trilogy, it was about Luke finding candidates with Force Potential and bringing them to his Academy on Yavin 4 to be trained as Jedi, he went to all manner of places to find his students, places like Dathomir, Bespin, and other planets and now thanks to Kookoo Kennedy, its now reduce to being descrotumized by Kennedy's Sith Jedi with no training.

IF this is even getting made. They’ve promised other films, and nothing.

Why would it bomb? All the so called true Star Wars fan will eventually pay Lucasfilm to see this upcoming trash no matter how bad they know it will be (and yourself probably either). If a 0 level movie such as TROS made a billion when everyone knew by advance it was inbound for a disaster once the reddit leaks were out, there is no reason this movie won't cash hard worldwide: Star Wars fans are just a bunch of Beta Weaklings that spends their time crapping in the comments of all the Social Medias on how bad the Disney Star wars films are, while they'll keep paying for anything movie branded Star Wars: Episode (input roman number here). Jedi trainee: Master Rey, what about our training? Rey: Training??

My top priority as head of Lucasfilm would be to hire Thor as the screenwriter for everything, and then laugh as he struggles making this turd, mistakenly called Rey Skywalker, a likeable character.

WDW Pro broke news of the Rey movie before it was announced. WDW Pro claims to have contacts with third party merchandisers who know a lot of the inside scoop with Lucasfilm. According to his sources, Disney has already sunk a lot of money into the Sequels and they want to try and salvage it. The fact Galaxy's Edge is Sequels themed is a big sticking point. They don't really want to spend the money to retheme it to a different era. They'd rather throw a Rey movie out there to try and save the whole thing than just abandon it, but the Rey movie is the last ditch effort. If the Rey movie doesn't do well they're seriously considering axing the Sequel Trilogy. The running idea is to pair her with a bunch of fan favorites like Grogu and R2-D2 as a means to boost the character by proxy.

Thanks, Thor. Didn't expect my comment to be chosen, especially so quickly. Feels a bit like Rey isn't quite the main character in this idea, but idk what else you could do while salvaging things lol. And I'm pretty confident that despite the premise feeling a bit more "Luke-centric" as opposed to Rey truly being the MC... you could make her more of the MC in the actual movie. I think whoever was "forcing" this Rey movie would be like, "This is like 60% Luke, 40% Rey and you need to reverse that!" But I like it. I think we have similar views on a lot of the Disney stuff, and I always enjoy seeing what you come up with for basically what you would do. Even though that's probably where our opinions/directions would diverge the most lol. It makes me think of other cool stuff, sometimes. Plus, I just like seeing your thoughts as more of a reader and fan. If you feel like doing an opposite, like what you would do to follow up episode 9 but not necessarily requiring Rey to be a major part (though they'd likely force you to shoehorn her in with a cameo, at least, and not kill her lol) I'd also be interested in that, eventually. Who knows? The Clone Wars fleshed out the prequel era and it played a large part in why they are beloved today.

What they need to do is erase Rey and the entire sequel trilogy!!!

If possible I think they should try to salvage whatever they can from George Lucas’ original sequel trilogy treatment and bring him on board to supervise.

Daisy should play Meetra Surik. Give her a chance at a real character that an entire story was but around hearing the force again after being cut off from it.

@@mpnuorva Except that Murder on the Orient Express was several years ago and she hasn't done anything noteworthy since. Also she played a minor role in that movie and was overshadowed by everyone else on the cast who had been at it far longer than she has. So, you can't blame just her.

What epic battle The ending was Rey walking slowly towards palpatine as he killed himself for no reason

for me it would be better if they didn t aknowledge at all the previous movies, they cannot be salvaged. They need to tone down the power creep in Star Wars, so tame fight scenes, especially when it comes to the force, give her a lot of character growth in the time between the sequels and this movie so that she at least comes across as a jedi- peacefull, calm, benevolent, in control of their impulses, and give her a despicable villain, preferably someone like micah from rdr2, just a very chaotic personality anybody can hate, but i honestly wouldn t bother, daisy is just not that good of an actress and rey is a weak character, the stain of the sequels can never be washed so it would be best to leave them in the past and try something new.

The "impossible" being this: make her an interesting, sympathetic character that audiences care about. The original Star Wars has sustained LOYALTY between friends, the sequel trilogy has little to NO sustained loyalty between the characters. That is a big reason why Rey (and the other characters) failed.

It should start with Luke waking up in the Jedi temple and saying "I just had the worst dream..." Then start over, and try again with an actually planned out story that fits in the Star Wars lore.

I couldn't do it. Write a story about Rey as the protagonist in Star Wars based on the Shitquel trilogy? Impossible for me.

The "somehow" is still killing me. Sometimes I have flashbacks when I hear "somehow" and nightmares. 😅

I don’t care if it’s the greatest film ever made I won’t pay to watch it as a moral stance against Disney for butchering Star Wars lore and destroying Luke as a character.

Not even gonna watch "the Rey movie". I pray that the Filoniverse somehow justifies the ridiculousness of the sequels. If anyone can do it than him. Disney should then focus on the high republic era and tell new stories

Disney just forced the Grogu reunion too soon in order to sell more toys. But I am optimistic for the Ahsoka series, the Thrawn movie and how the foundations of the first order will be layed

There is no saving the character; they had a whole trilogy and failed. Even if she ends up struggling in the new movies, it's unearned because she should've been struggling from the start, and it will only be a damage control for making her a badass character with no flaws and at the expanse of the OG characters.

In the first five minutes of the movie have Rey encased in Carbonite.

Tbh, I would make a Rey movie in the lines of the Jedi academy, her being a promissing student of Luke Skywalker... That being said all Sequel trilogy would be binned and recicled.

Bring Mara Jade and offsping of Luke who is retroactively added to the timeline. They help Rey rebuild. Even if that child is a girl, it will work better by bringing a Skywalker back

If I was writing a Rey movie, the first thing I would do is have her give Chewbacca back his ship.

I’m sure it will never happen but the thing that I keep thinking about was when the Emperor tells Luke to take his weapon and strike him down with it and his journey to the dark side will be complete. If only she would turn to the dark side as she is teaching Finn to use the force and he has to destroy her to save Jedi order and the Galaxy. Now that is a movie I could watch!

Personally I would open up with the screen crawl stating "REY Skywalker has vanished. In her absence, the sinister Second ORDER has risen from the ashes of the first order who rose from the ashes of the Empire, and will not rest until Rey, the last sorta Jedi, has been destroyed" then lead down some convoluted plot of mystery box theater where we fin a old hermit Rey drinking milk off some odd ball creatures and being a total failure that the new character tries to bring back but alas wont do anything and winds up fading out to nothing in the end.

Kathleen Kennedy is just the human inbodiment of the definition of insanity. She destroyed Star Wars with her inserting ideology and her wants in the films. She destroyed Willow the exact same way, and she has AGAIN done it again with Indiana Jones. Im not watching anything from lucasfilm at all until she is gone. The entire catalogue is rotten to the core, and i will not be coming back to the series ever again

I am so sorry for Daisy Ridley. She really wants Rey to work. And again, she will get a bad script with a lot of studio changes and not much to work with to make character sympathetic or fun.

Hypothetically if all the fans united in some beautiful way and wrote the perfect script that could elevate the sequels to where they felt right (which would be a miracle). More realistically we'd get a SW movie equivalent to Spider-Man: Lotus

A story dealing with Force-ghosts would be interesting, but I would worry about taking away the mystery behind Force-ghosts. The issue of history repeating itself and learning / not learning from mistakes should be addressed by exploring the issue of evil continuously reemerging in the Star Wars galaxy. We know-out-of-universe that Disney wanted to make money off of pretty much repeating the original trilogy, but it would nice to see a canon explanation.

The need to make the old characters be lonely and depressed failures, in order to make the new ones interesting enough for the fans to be invested is basically a clear admission of incompetence on the part of who decides these things at Lucasfilm.

Holy cow, that could work. A depowered Rey is genius- I mean, it’s also like every Marvel sequel movie but it works extra well for her. We’ve all seen what you can do to “fix” the sequels with some extra time to think- and this was “off the cuff” and still leagues better than anything Disney could come up with

Hey Thor, I wanted to ask about James Mangold's Star Wars movie about the birth of the jedi order. In my opinion I think it has the potential to be the best and most successful of the 3 movies announced at celebration. It doesn't have baggage from the sequel trilogy like the Rey movie and it is also not like the filoni movie where it could turn off casual fans who are not familiar with the Mandoverse. It's the movie I'm excited about the most because Mangold has proven himself as a good director and because he's described as a grand biblical epic about the birth of the order which sounds awesome to me. I've always wondered about the foundation of the jedi order because even the eu doesn't cover it much. I also think it could set up a sequel about the birth of the sith and their first war with the jedi which could be awesome. I just hope the movie is really good because it's the only star wars project that Lucasfilm has announced that I am genuinely excited for and looking forward to. If they mess up this movie and the story of the first jedi I think I might walk away from star wars for good as much as it hurts me to say. So my question to you is what do you think about this movie and some of the points i've brought up, thanks.

It's one of those assumptions that is based on the Dark Side not being the Dark Side. The Jedi don't need to destroy the Sith, they are fully capable of it themselves. The only reason Darth Bane trilogy only lampshades this, instead of showing it, is that Tales of the Jedi and KotOR were already part of Legends.

I saw the beginning of the title in a notification and legit thought it was gonna say "Somehow the Rey Movie's returned"

Honestly the only recovery I can possibly see is something like Luke's secret family coming out of the wood works. He went into isolation to protect them. So an actually Skywalker or Skywalkers turn up.

My version i think would be more of A character piece for Rey. It's more so about her finding her place within the jedi. So, the way I would do it is that there's a time skip and they have a couple students at the temple and Rey is going out to find for sensitive. People to join the jedi, but then she's called back 2 the temple because she needs to do some good jedi grand master stuff, and it's really stressing her out. Because one of her character traits is she is very independent. So she feels like she has to do everything by herself and that shows. Because if she cant do it all by herself she doesn't believe shes worthy of it. But by the end of the movie we see. She realizes that this isn't the role for her then Finn becomes jedi grand master for of the order. Rey then becomes a Jedi Seeker.

Rey as just a Jedi Seeker would be interesting, I would be way more interested in a movie about that. Any movie that makes Rey a Jedi Master will ultimately make me not go watch it, because she didn't earned.

Honestly you're giving writers too much credit after they already showed they know nothing about Star Wars. Do you think they even know what Jedi seekers are?

THOR's probably the most positive person on YT...I really do love this channel. I like that he's trying to be a peace maker while still explaining how incredibly bad star wars has become. The one absolute, for me, about post Lucas Disney Star Wars is that the producers never had a plan and that the writers/directors have a severe lack of talent. JarJar Abrams has never been able to finish anything well, he's never had to finish a project, so he cramped the bed eith that last Jedi Film..."And I am all the Jedi!"...hahahaha...wait, your serious? Ruin Johnson has been on record saying he feels happy when 1/2 of the audience loves it and the other 1/2 hates it...that's NOT how you keep or build an IP you spent $4 billion on if you plan to ever at least break even on it (which they never have...and probably never will.) (A movie making 2 billion at the box office is not the same as your movie making you 2 billion in profit...minus production costs and advertising and them give the theaters their cut, which in China is almost all of it. That doesn't mean you are making near that $2B your movie made...then make the next movie cost almost the same, but it makes significantly less, than the next one doesn't turn a profit, though you sunk close to a billion on between production and advertising...aka...pulling a Solo. Than repeat the process of spending sooooooo much of your investors' money in order to put out one of the worst movies ever filmed just for it to have diminishing returns...than sink billions on a streaming service that is just a meh player in the already overly saturated streaming wars, with shows nobody is watching, like Andoe and then tank your one good show with stupid changes to the formula that your fans aren't asking for like Boba and Mando. Lastly, while your parent organization is thoroughly on fire in the dumpster you helped put them in, build a failing hotel that most fans would have to donate a kidney for in order to basically larp in a windowless room for 2 days...and as that ship is sinking, you squeeze out 3 more very expensive dops of wet poop called Willow, India Jones, and a New Rey film. How does KK still have a J...O...B..? And hiw do you think they will ever make the $4 billion back if they keep giving us hot garbage in the theaters and dull TV shows on a service people are fleeing by the millions? It's no wonder their stock has fallen by 54% in the last 2 years.)

My only addition or change to your "script" would be that they find out that "Palpatine" isn't Palpatine but a Master Sith who took over the original Palpatine's body and absorbed Palpatine's abilities, as well as all previous Sith the Master absorbed through the years. Effectively, the Master is really ALL the Sith that the Master had absorbed.

It was interesting, and it's a perfect approach to continuation of the silly and contradicting Disney's storylines, if they really must be ackwnowledged as canon and continued in some way. This is the way to do it, to try to repair and salvage as must as it can be. That was a great question from the viewer to talk about as well-

Wow, now that was a tough one. I've felt for some time that there wasn't anything wrong or terrible about Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, or any of the cast, just the truly godawful "story" that they were saddled with. If I were any of the actors involved, I would be furious at Disney/Lucasfilm for f*cking things up so badly that my career was harmed by the mess made by them. →If, as, rumours are again suggesting, KK is going to be gone soon, Disney/Lucasfilm will have one chance to make things right. Putting some successor hand-picked by KK in charge would spell the end. A horrifying possibilty... (Cue dreamy harp music) "The good news is: Kathleen Kennedy is gone! The bad news is: Lesleye Headland is her replacement!" (End dreamy harp music) Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Let us pray that nightmare never comes true.

Rehabilitating the characters means confronting the narrative problems at the end of TROS. I can't think of a hyperspace bypass around that ending, except skipping 100 years, but here's one idea: First film - mainly the Jedi Academy, also Ahsoka/Thrawn, and the bumbling New Republic Opens with Ahsoka and Thrawn discovering the true horror of the Vong; cut to Rey building the Academy the hard way by hand as she's been depowered (she cannot master the wisdom of the line, so cannot access the power), weird flashes of Ben, of her own Dark Rey; special Force Ghost Council; Yoga and Luke tell her she must complete her training (Mortis Arc); Ben's ghost is trapped on Moraband (it's not, this is a metaphor, it's inside her); just as she's preparing to leave, Mara Jade shows up looking for Luke (or Jacen), but stays; urgent Force message from Ahsoka, galaxy in peril; urgent message from Republic as the first Vong attack takes out an outworld; Pergils arrive over the Academy, Rey and Ahsoka have a difficult meeting, neither much likes the other, Rey says I'm off to complete training and save Ben's soul, you stay here to be the Jedi. Ahsoka says "I am no jedi". Vong commander sees this through remote viewer and laughs. Cut to screams of Abeloth awakening and the containment fields rupturing.

The sequel trilogy was supposed to do what Cobra Kai did, where the new characters were allowed to assert themselves without trumpling on the old. The way Disney Star Wars went about it, there's nothing to be done to endear Rey to the wider audience. She could've been saved in Episode VIII that built on the groundwork laid by TFA, and then by the end of Episode IX the fans would have had a desire to see where the Star Wars saga would go next. Instead, everything was brought to a screeching halt with TLJ and, whatever they may try to do and did with her in Episode IX and future releases, Ray and story-arcs involving her have the usurper taint on them which just can't be washed away.

I don't think we ever hoped more that they do what they've been doing for a while now and cancel this. I doubt it tho, KK is a petulent child.

Thor, trying to come up with ideas to salvage a disaster on the fly: "Ben's gone or not there... or something." Lucasfilm writing team: "Or something! Quick--write that down! OMG this is so good!"

One thing that I think should be done to explain some of the insane changes of power level we saw is that Luke went to a very powerful Naxos, perhaps the one for this galaxy, in the light side of the force. An average force ghost in an average Place can have a conversation with somebody. There at that extremely powerful Max is a force goals can handle physical objects, and perhaps even summon lightning. How was the emperor able to transfer his consciousness? Well, he had planned forward and performed rituals there at that dark side nexus. That they’re at their place with all of those “worshipers” being willing to pour darkside energy into him he was able to do things like come back and use force lightning on an entire fleet.

Honestly I don't think anything can save this movie not even KK and her cronies being ousted and/ or having no input on the movie. Ironically the only thing I can think of would be to "subvert expectations" and have Rey be a red herring MC and Palpatine has been possessing her body the entire time and one of her students has to rise to the occasion which this idea has its own problems in of itself.

The Rey movie needs to show her struggling... If it starts and she already has students that are trained it has already failed... She needs to be struggling to train the students show their struggle their failures and especially her failures as a new teacher... I know what you're thinking one of them falls to the Darkside maybe they can do something different this time and actually innovate instead of just copy and paste. But seriously she needs to struggle in this movie. Everything has to be a mountain to get over. Technically she's the most powerful Force user in the Galaxy right now that we know about... I was actually thinking of who the villain could be for this because if it's another old disgruntled man or a fallen Jedi it's gonna be kind of lame... Unless they want to take some stuff from the EU which we know they do all the time... I think they really dropped the ball with the potential for the Knights of Ren... So I wouldn't mind seeing her and her group of students or whatever going up against some new darkseid acolytes but a group of them... Then again everyone would just say why the hell didn't they do this with the Knights of Ren😂

Well, I would say adapt the Yuuzhan Vong, but New Jedi Order is one of my all-time favorites and I don't want Disney to screw another EU concept up. That said, about the only thing they could do is have some kind of enemy completely devoid of The Force. That puts Rey down at the level of everyone else (or it does in the hands of a competent story teller) and she'd have to grapple with that along with rebuilding the Jedi while her students grapple with the idea that being all powerful doesn't suffice for every situation.

There is no fixing Rey on the timeline given. I would insist on literally redoing the sequel trilogies, but I'd use almost entirely the same cast to actually make the films we should have had. Luke's academy on Yavin 4, Leia as leader of the New Republic, Rey and Finn as padawans under Jedis Maz and Poe. I would argue it was done with the clone wars and in the Alien franchise, we could do it here. After all the ewok movies and holiday special got decanonized, we will do the same here.

Its not about making money. Disney doesnt care if you dont go see this movie. They know its unpopular. It is about their message and crushing any hope that people may have had that things could go back to the way they were before the sequel trilogy. This movie could lose $200 million and kathleen kennedy would be ok with that.

I can't disagree with your choice, though I've always thought the problem with "more Rey" is that she's SO immensely powerful, so quick to adapt and learn on the fly, that it is hard for the writer to find a way to threaten her.

Whats the impossible get KK fired or removed from creative decisions. That aint ever gonna happen.

I guess if I had to do this... I'd do a movie about Luke even if with Rey as protagonist. Let's say the force diad thing was a kind of natural disaster of the force, a collateral damage from Palpatine's experimentations constantly ravaging unnatural sides of the force, and it created this series of unnatural force events like super powers and "all of the jedi" thing. Now the force is healed for the most, and Rey is back to being a normal untrained force sensitive. She's heard about being survivors from Luke's new Jedi Order and is roaming the universe looking for them. While she goes around, she learns flashback by flashback about all the effort he put into rebuilding the Order and honoring previous traditions, while trying to find the way to not make the same mistakes again. Guess by the end she'll find something of an isolated Jedi Order, some disciples who have been out of touch because they didn't want to get mixed with new republic politics. Dunno, seems like an idea now that I thought it, but even if it turned out enjoyable, I don't think it would have the effect Disney wants of making the sequels more palatable.

To make Rey work she has to struggle and fail, and I'd arguing harder now since she's had everything handed to her and has become insufferably smug because of it. There was a hint of that in Rise of Skywalker, but it was like JJ saying 'see what I could have done if Rian hadn't messed up everything?' Which might be disingenuous because JJ showed no real signs of developing Rey, either. If you had her not knowing what the hell she was doing and messing up with her new order, and maybe even having a few of her students starting to go bad because of it, you might have something. But, would they do that? If you insist on making her 'perfect' no one is going to care, and you'll just have another round of Daisy Ridley hate. Also, where exactly is the story? You can't bring Palpatine back AGAIN (or, at least, they better not try). You can't bring Kylo back (again, just don't) or Snoke(that ship has sailed, and unless they made him Darth Plagueis I wouldn't bother). Thrawn is in other stories, or will be, and doesn't fit here. What's left? I'd personally love to see a contest between Ahsoka and Darth Talon (I guess Rey could tag along), but I doubt they'll do that, and I just literally don't see what they can do with anything in the sequel era. So, good luck to them I guess. If I hear anything interesting or see a trailer that looks worth it I might watch it on video. Right now I can barely muster up enough interest to shrug.

Ok, what if, to rebuild the order, she uses the world between worlds to prevent Ben from becoming Kylo? She is the main character. She rebuilds (from a certain point of view) the Jedi order. Maybe we stick it when our trio are de-aged or cgi’d to their prime. Could everybody (but of course KK) get on board with this or something like it?

@@thorshammer7883 I get you, sadly I think normies are going to be Confused by things like: Luke's son being named Ben and also the Dark Empire series, part 4 of Coruscant Nights being named "The Last Jedi" and parts of "Shadows of the Empire" contradicting itself between books, games etc. I love the Expanded Universe, but they did do a few things that needs to be thought of if they were to make more EU things, like I hate they killed Chewie, that was so anti-George Lucas to do.

The old staff writers knew what they were doing far better and handled it well compared to the doctrines and narratives Disney is putting out.

I'd go full on with the Force ghosts, bring Anakin, Luke, Obi Wan and Mace all back. Have them talk at length about the force and what it means

I would have the beginning of the movie start out at the end of the last one. Ray would say the line "Ray Skywalker" then she'd wake up in the jedi temple as a new student to Grandmaster Luke Skywalker and her first order of business is to make him a sandwich... lol

"I am all the sith" for me means he is the last one of the line of Darth Bane, he has all their knowledge and teaching passed down to him. Rey? She was just imitating him to sound cool or something.

Thor is a good writer and even him can't come up with a cohesive story for this Rey movie. I can't come up with anything either without making it way too convoluted or bending over backwards to give Rey a conflict worth exploring

Thing is that you and Thor are thinking and trying to fix the story. The executive committees that decide what goes in these movies don't give a damn other than making money, so I can guarantee that the Rey movie will be a forgettable, but action packed, convoluted mess

Not in the way Kathleen Kennedy wants her to be. And I find it incredibly ironic that the studio that didn't know what to do with Luke Skywalker because he was too powerful have now created a replacement character that no one believes could have a viably dangerous antagonist given the way she was written and presented.

Them using the "ancient texts", we all know that it's Disney's green card to basically rewriting the Jedi in whichever way they see fit. GL jedi can be written as irrelevant.

You could have Rey find the real Luke Skywalker, with it revealed that the "Luke" in the sequel trilogy is the Disney canon's version of Luuke Skywalker.

The Sequel Trilogy didn't work because the protagonist needed to be the offspring of Luke. This saga was, in its first six films, set up to be a multigenerational saga following the Skywalker family. Having Rey be the granddaughter of Palpatine, the daughter/granddaughter of Obi-Wan, or just a random character with no connections to anybody from the previous six films just doesn't work. From a storytelling perspective, it is predictable that she would be Luke's daughter, but bringing in a new completely new character in the final act of an epic saga like this to close out the story is inorganic and flies in the face of how the story was set up and structured in the previous trilogies. And on top of that, it's quite obvious that Disney and Lucasfilm seemed more interested in using the Sequel Trilogy to do a soft reboot of Star Wars and didn't have any interest at all in actually continuing and closing out the story from Episodes I through VI.

There is no way of rescuing the mess that JJ, Johnson and Kennedy have made of Star Wars I am afraid.

What I wish they did: a fallen ronin story starting luke. He lost his religion, faith, & masters… no allegiance to anything, he is free to be anything. So he becomes a sith hunter, playing on his dad being a jedi hunter. It could be like the samurai ep. on SW visions… it could work as a prequel story so we could see luke lose hope slowly and it works with ben solo and knights of ren.

The only way I’m gonna watch this is if they “subvert our expectations” by permanently killing off Rey in the first five minutes.

Disney couldn't make Mary Sue Rey likeable after a whole trilogy. Disney is crazy to think a 4th movie is going to change anything for the better.

Hey, Thor. I have been wondering. What if the prequels had been made in 1987, 1990 and 1993 as originally planned? Personally, I think Johnny Depp would be cast as Anakin because at the time he was the right age and had that "Rebel Without a Cause" vibe. I also think that both sides of the clone wars would use clones because of the limited computer technology. Lastly, while I think Naboo, Coruscant, Tatooine, Geonosis and Mustafar would be *relatively* the same with a few tweaks, I think the rest of the planets we saw would be considerably different. But what do you think?
