Just got my Omnifixo for Christmas! Looking forward to trying it out fully but I always found the croc clip helping hands more trouble than they are worth.

Beautifully made product Johann! Question, which desoldering pump you’re using?

I just received mine! Really nice. It holds the wires still, oh, what a relief. No comparison to that awful blue tack for joining wires. Question: what is the tip material? Is it heat resistant silicone? I'm afraid I'll melt it.

Hi Michael, Thanks a lot for the nice feedback and for the question! You are right the tip sleeves are made from a heat resistant silicone (VGP60) that manages 180°C for an extended time and easily 350°C for a shorter time (solder/solder tip slip). It will not melt but if the temperature gets high enough +500°C or +350°C for minutes it will first be discolored and then in the end get "burned" and lose its properties. If that ever happens let me know, I have spares at hand. //Johann

Weller WSM 1 - I really recommend it but it is not low cost ~€400 🙂

If you can afford to buy this expensive tool, you certainly can afford to buy a $30 heat gun. Shrinking heat shrink tubing with a BIC lighter is classless and leaves soot marks.

I own two good heat guns and always seem to default to the bic lighter. 😂
