Deal or No Deal was even released on DVD, I had it as a kid. Like a version that played using DVD menus on any random DVD player. I was more fascinated by a game being on DVD than the game itself, and if I’m remembering right a few old FMV games were also released on DVD.

It's pretty hilarious; you set up a game with no opponents and immediately win a domination victory due to having no opponents (as soon as the game loads in.) There's a Paradox Interactive game (EU4?) where you can complete an "Any% run" by losing the game immediately. You start the game as some nation with active separatist rebels and surrender to them as soon as possible.

Honestly, I'd love to see a "short speedruns" list ranked by ratio of speedrun_time:average_casual_playthrough_time. An hour-long run of a 5 hour game would be "shorter" than a 5 minute long speedrun of a 10 minute long game, for example.

It reminds me of the sonic 3d blast crash handling that was used to get around Sega testing to get the game licensed. In essence, if the game detected that it crashed, it would being you to a "secret" stage select screen, therefore making it seem like the crash never happened. This is just speculation, but if I had to guess I would bet this would be a similar situation, where the game starts to crash, the game detects it and sends it to the end credits to hide the crash and reset the game. If you want more info about that sonic thing, the channel game hut (who is also the creator of that game) made a video explaining it.

The run could get crazier than that, because a -1.5 second time could be possible. And for the same category in half life 2, it could be around -1:30.

The first choice in the entire game is when the protagonist gets out of the train and arrives at the town, then you get the choice to go back into the train which just triggers the end credits, so the any% category is just the first cutscene of the game lol. It's like 14 seconds or something like that. I'm one of the world record holders

Not only did I go on Newgrounds in the early 00s, coming back to Newgrounds in the late 10s is what got me into speedrunning thanks to some of their time trial leaderboards :).Also, my favorite game to speedrun is available on Newgrounds and has an any% wr of 79 seconds: Grippy!

10:31 if i had a nickel for every time there was an infinite jump glitch in a notoriously bad sonic game, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

You'd have at least three, 06, boom, and this one. There are more infinite jump glitches in multiple other sonic games but I don't know if they would count as notoriously bad.

I think shortness is kind of relative; I consider the WR any% 11 minute speedrun of Fallout 4 to be "shorter" than the 4:54 Super Mario any% based on the fact that casual/100%/glitchless runs of F4 are proportionally longer than the equivalent Mario runs. It's like "is 4 a lot? Dollars, no; murders yes".

For someone this small you put a LOT of effort into your videos and it shows. Your content is really interesting and, in my opinion, is just as good as someone like EZScape. Lets just hope you get the same attention.

My favorite extremely short speedrun is Mr. Game & Watch's Target Test in Smash Melee where you do 2 Up-Bs and finish with a time of approximately 2 seconds

Two worlds has an insanely funny speedrun, that is also under 2 minutes (1m 41s) so normally the game is over 20 hours but there's a part very near the beginning of the game, where the main villain is hanging out outside a village to give you some quests but, if you aggro him, and bait him into shooting a fireball at one of the villagers, the entire village dogpiles him, and beats the fuck out of him until he dies now normally, this would do nothing but in this game, the ending cutscene is tied to the NPC dying so, when he inevitably gets killed by the villagers, you win

Antichamber is about 43 seconds with a warp glitch that lets you just warp directly to the end very early.

"[In Sudoku Fever], you save the chocolate factory, stop the rotten..." I'll admit that due to Storster's authoritative voice, I was on board with that sentence and thought it made sense at first. It was a real "Wait, what?" moment.
