Some High Current fun
Ғылым және технология
Electricity at low Voltage ± 2 Volts and about 350 Ampères will heat metals up very quickly.
Caution with the fumes and stay upwind for experimenters.
also use safety goggles against flying metal particles.

Ahhh I can taste the zinc fumes from here Ray...brings back memories of being a welder!!!
Gotta love that angry hum
Very cool stuff! Nothing like abit of high currents now and again for pure destruction lol. Fantastic ray!! And as always thanks for making and sharing!! 👍👍👍👍👍THUMBS UP👍👍👍👍👍 high1voltage1rules
The glow and loss of shininess is the indication that it is *extremely hot* and should never be touched. Awesomeness all the way!
i do that at home everyday.. i just turn on a light bulb
Cables dont get warm, but thick metals is burning😎
I rewound the secondary on an old MOT last weekend and managed to max out the 600 amp limit on my amp meter xD, guessing the current was upwards of around 800 amps, it had no problem melting nails etc
worked quite well!!
Every fucking time you astound and amaze me!!!😂👍😄
So why does it draw an excessive amount of current. Is it because there are a lot less turns on the secondary coil? and does the thickness of the secondary coil play a part as well?
I,m love your Channel :) So much destruction ^^
transformer holding up well
Very nice Ray :)
can a tesla coil kill wasps in the air?
Cool !
Nice
Did you build or buy this trafo. ?

I build it. Not too efficient and has high losses on the core.
Are you ok? Galvanized metal melted produces drums that are crazy deadly.
Are the fumes from a coating on the parts?

yeah its zinc coated. when the part glows up, the zinc will burn into zinc oxide which is quite toxic (thats why you get told to grind it away from parts before welding)
those little cables handle 350amps? wow.. what is it? copper?

RODALCO2007 using my newly aquired physics knowlege I would calculate that the mean drift velocity of the electrons(assuming copper density is 8.94 kg m^-3and that the charge of an electron is 1.6 x 10^-19) will be 6.991 x 10^18 ms^-1 . I might have got it wrong though.

BillericayDickie Forget the formula's. 35 mil will take 300 - 400 Amps, short term Yes. Long term No. a bit of 2.5 mil will take 150 Amps for about 1.5 minutes before melting.

oh, ok thanks for setting me straight about that.
how about 0,2 volt and 3500 amp

Virtualgod2009 Great comment and true. around 12 Volts 100 Amps and more, is good for quick results.
This is really cool. How high is your electricity bill. 👍

stefan leckmich Our electric bill is high NZ$ 300 (EUR 220) month for ±1200 kWh. Playing for an afternoon rarely exceeds NZ$ 1 (EUR 0.70) in electricity.
