THANK YOU, SIR, YOU ARE A HERO!! I was literally about to start bawling my eyes out because I couldn't solve one of these particular problems.

@MrKenneththeboss This isn't the hardest thing mathematically I've done...I'm just used to math being very mechanical, just chugging and plugging, not word problems. All of the classes in math I've ever taken preferred to emphasize theory and calculation over analysis/word problems. I wanted to hit my head against a brick wall while taking calc2 because a lot of the word problems were so vague. Calculus 3 is working a lot better for me now...thanks to a much better textbook and patrickJMT. :)

Would it have worked if the faster plane's value of r was r+50 instead of the slower plane with r-50?

@Arcz90 well, with some practice you can do this pretty quickly i would think.

I remember in algebra I, these were the only type of problems that I couldn't do..I wish I could've had this video back then. I'm in calc II now and this guy works wonders on my grade.

The equation is X-50+2(×+50)=600

is there an easy, more simplified way to do these kinds of problems, say you are in an apptitude test and have a time limit, can these be done more quickly?

@QuantumRippyify I think he was picturing a commercial jet plane. He probably doesn't realize that smaller one engine planes (Which considering the miles traveled, makes the most sense), are considerably slower.

the way the problem was solved was so confusing for me. If only I could remember how my teacher solved that, can't find anything on youtube that is similar to how he solved it.

nvm- we find it using d=t x r = so to find time, we divide distance by rate.

our teacher taught us just one example then she would let us answer this things that are so complicated

So you have four divided by the quadrant of the x multiplied by 2. Then subtract the r from the 360 divided by the time. Substitute the T for time and rearrange the formula to equal its opposite equation. Then you have your answer 😂

Why is it that i can solve challenging math problems, but i dont even understand A THING in these silly word problems. Sometimes you gotta tweak the equations and turn them around to match the phrasing of the problem, its so hard i dont even know how to approach these problems.
