Man you deserve a medal or something you just fixed everything. It was a nightmare I created a restore point before something I did stuffed up my internet speed and made it really bad. Then the restore point I set beforehand didn't work because of this error. I set shadow in services and then uninstaller my antivirus and restored on boot this worked like a charm. Thanks allot you're awesome my friend really appreciate your help. Everything is back to normal now.

I fully agree. In fact windows 10 is the most fxxked up OS I ever had from Windows Workgroup, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Vista Windows 7 and Windows 8. So far Windows 10 have given me the most problem in which I have to do a clean install almost every other week since September when my HDD crashed. I installed with a new SSD and it was getting from bad to worse.

@@SrikantSahu Thank You for letting us know that. I have 25 years as a Professional I.T. starting as an MCSE in NT in 1995. Unfortunately with 25 years in I.T. I've never gotten in VMs. That's another discipline all on it's own.

Also, "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation" on sfc.

i tried everything... and then it happened. I ran it in safe mode and it worked XD thx bruh

For me doing Restore point in safe mode worked.. And for those who are not able to find Restore point option Open Recovery from control panel

My problem is that I can't even reach the desktop. All I get after booting the system is WinRE. Once there if I choose to restore the system I eventually come into this error. So I can't access services nor antivirus not anything unless done through CMD I guess, as it is available in WinRE

ur last steps works for me, but very very painful by doing this by entering into safe mode, plz put some light by which i can do it by logging into current user mode as in win 10 as Admin again n again getting the same error msg - "fix system restore could not access a file an unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x80070005),disable anitvirus or uninstall"....althogh no antivirus installed,no files left over as well as win 10 inbuilt defender protection,firewall etc .were all disabled also facing blank icon problem only in case of ms off.20007/2010 when i right click on the desktop and selecting powerpoint icon,watched many youtube tutorials but all methods applied & failed,problem still persist if u can help me sort out out this 2 issues ill be grateful & obliged to you from my heart,i need some1 help regarding this issue,my win 10 version is 1803 redstone 4,8gb ram,core i3 processor(4th gen.)

I'm getting a different error system restore code ( 0x8007045b ) . I heard about another method like renaming the folder or something that has to do with the restore error. Anyway I don't know if your methods also work for my system restore error code but I'm gonna try your methods and see what happen

I ended getting being able to system restore. the first step i tried was booting in safe mode and trying it from there but that didnt work. Then I followed the video and did all the steps except for completing the scanning and repairing drive because I got stuck at 10%. Then I tried booting in safe mode one more time and it worked. Just fyi. Thanks for responding.

same , my problem is on my laptop.my driver (nvidia) after windows update ,when playing games sometimes black screen a couple second and then turn on again. when low battery my laptop easily black screen an then turn on again a few second. It's so annoying

thanx.heh. i have this very problem right now.. and i suspect it was a dodgy adobe acrobat i downloaded yesterday from Pirate Bay.. i noticed straight away my youtube downloader was missing from my task bar, and partly missing inside the program files folder as well..[ALARM BELLS!!!] Mothafkn virus.. this Error [0x80070005]. Now, hopefully i can fix... : D
