CASE DETAILS
AWP began our search for 66-year-old Annie Lee Hampton who was last seen October 10, 2019 in Marianna, Arkansas driving her 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Starting our day at 9:00, Jacob Grubbs and his team met up with AWP to begin our search.
The first location searched was the river nearest her home with no success.
The second location was Bear Creek Reservoir where we were able to identify a vehicle 29' underwater using sonar.
Doug Bishop and Jacob Grubbs dove on the vehicle, pulling the Arkansas License plate 342 737 matching Miss Annie's missing Grand Prix.
The vehicle was upside down, 85' from shore, 29' underwater.
The local Sheriff, Police Department and State Park Rangers arrived on the scene and prior to 2 pm, through the efforts of all organizations working together, the vehicle in question was removed, confirming human remains inside which have now been confirmed as Miss Annie.
It is our honor to have brought Miss Annie Lee Hampton home.
Hug the ones you love for you never know when it might be the last time you see them.

@@Solamia7 It could be for the authorities but it can also be for the family. Their lost loved one was with the car and the family can no longer hold the person. For the family the license plate is emotionally connected to the missing person and they can physically hold the license plate or better said 'their lost loved one'

I'm from the UK and if someone is diagnosed with dementia they MUST inform the licensing authorities and the drivers insurers of there diagnosis. Both authorities will as most likely ask for a doctors report. failing to do this is a £1000 fine. but once you have past the stage of " onset dementia" there license WILL be revoked. Safety Comes First, for all.

Living in the middle of two old folks homes these Dementia cases really hit home. The amount of times I find people wandering around and gotta lead them back home/inform the old peoples homes is staggering. And they always got a story and are very sure that this story is true, may it be a walk while staying at a hotel in town or having lost their home key. One thing I will say is: If you got dementia patients in the family, give the community an option an identifier on them, best case with contact details on it. After one of the old folks homes has started giving them out, it has become much easier to notice, reach out and resolve the situation.

@@foramau Older folks often live alone and can seem less demented on just occasional visits from friends or family. They tend to talk about the more distant past making them seem quite sharp mentally. People don't realize they have lost the ability to access their short term memories. While driving they can get disoriented and 'lost' but also reorient pretty quickly and return to their route. Very possibly they don't share these events with anyone. Thus no one knows its time to step in and stop the driving ability.

I just found your channel earlier this week and have been catching up on all the videos. Thank you for what you do. My son had a "near-fatal" drowning at the age of 23 months old. He was revived that day but suffered from the permanent effects of the lack of oxygen to his brain. He developed epilepsy, cortical blindness and the ability to walk and talk and died 3 years ago (accidental drowning was listed as the cause of death on his death certificate, even after 11.5 years). Drownings are preventable and I appreciate all that you do to raise awareness to others to wear life jackets when on/ near the water. The services that you offer these families are invaluable. My heart goes out to Miss Annie's family. Hopefully with answers and being able to put her to rest will start to heal their hearts. ❤

With my dads sundowners Alzheimer’s , he didn’t register his health problems when he’d be in a “state of active illness”. Dad would forget his wallet, shoes, coat n so on. Weirdest thing about the brain with such patients is his mobility would change drastically! He was normally unable to stand or see! But once the brain switched he was like a jackrabbit! Sadly the illness caused not only memory flashbacks but delusions and hallucinations. Elders May not be thinking Ending things… but be seeing another world or event. Once dad was panicking over what he saw was a distressed family in crisis that needed help. The family wasn’t “real” at the moment, but may have been someone he had interacted with in his 90+ years of helping people. So you just can’t assume their thought process as we are grounded in NOW. The elderly aren’t.

I find myself in absolute tears every episode when a person is found. No, I don't have a personal connection to the deceased, but still, my heart hurts for the friends and family of the ppl found. This is amazing work these volunteers do, God put each of them on this planet to do exactly what they are doing rt now. I jus wanna hug these guys, there are good ppl out there, and there's a handful of GREAT ppl found rt in this video. God Bless each of you and be with you in all ur adventures. Thank you for sharing these stories with us. 💛💙

I tear up as well. There was one episode in particular (Thomas Thornton) where I was reminded so much of my own granddad and I broke down crying. I'm beyond grateful for AWP for giving these families the closure they desperately need.

My deepest condolences to Miss Annie's family and friends! So glad you were able to give them some answers about what happened to her! Giving folks with dementia the freedom to live their lives as independently as possible while ensuring their safety is so difficult--and, as you said, she may have decided she didn't want to continue battling her condition. I went through that with my father and was there with friends who went through it with their loved ones.

You can see in the officer they were talking to how emotional this was for the whole community to find Miss Annie, this has greatly effected a lot of people and they finally get to move on from this chapter and put one of the members of their community to rest. It does sadden me that the family is still looking for someone to blame when it really isnt likely there is anyone to blame at all, we've seen it before that people with dementia can get into these tragic situations so easily.

Yes, I was sad to hear that too. Sometimes relatives with loved ones that have these kind of difficulties have a hard time accepting that IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT! So they turn the guilt that they are feeling into anger. Part of the grieving process starts anew when a missing person is found. Bless you Miss Annie.

@@ThePizzaLife Denial is a stage of grief, I think it will take the autopsy/coroner's report for it to sink in with them that this really was just a tragic accident caused by a deteriorating mental capacity. We've seen it on this channel many times, and I've seen it in my personal life even more. That's why I always push for Dementia/Alzheimer's care facilities instead of Family Care, because these diseases ALWAYS get worse and its hard for families to realize that they arent capable of 24/7 care, there will be slip ups with relatives. Whereas if the patient is in a care facility, the likelihood that the patient could just wander out the front door is very very low.

@dd dd Its destroyed my best friend's family. Their father had early dementia caused by a stroke and it's sucked the soul out of the whole family, even now a few years after he's passed they still haven't recovered from the strain of taking care of him for over a decade. Even with 3 people constantly with him there were incidents. One particular time when I was driving back into town with another friend, I found their father wandering down the side of one of the busiest roads we have that has a large number of blind turns. How he wasnt killed before I drove by I dont know but luckily I found him and was able to get him in the car and take him home. The front door had been unlocked because someone had forgotten to relock it after getting the mail. So, yeah...I strongly advise for treatment facilities to people that have to deal with this horrific disease.

This was such a sad case. How was she even allowed to drive with her health issues and the dementia? It reminds me of Dedrick Smith here in my hometown. AWP, if I had the money I'd give your organization a million dollars. You deserve more than that for all that you do.

Very good job by everyone to bring Miss Annie home. Dementia can be a tricky thing and one never really knows what they are thinking. I sadly believe , with evidence seen in the video, Annie quite possibly took her own life as to not be a burden on her loved ones. I have seen it with my own relatives. Glad Annie has been found and hope the family can heal. Thanks for everything Chaos Divers / AWP .

-If I start to get dementia when I am old as I have been told by doctors I have a higher risk of it genetically when I get older I would shoot myself rather than go through it and die from it. Not worth living if you are basically a vegetable and burden on people and can't enjoy life.
