Good on you mate I was suspecting the problem has something to do with a couple of screw missing from the back of my laptop so after watching your video I'd removed screws from another place of the back laptop and fitted where they were missing and seems to work ok now

Thank you so much. This fixed my TravelMate P459-G2 which had developed the habit of powering off while on battery shortly after the 2-year warranty had expired (new battery was bought but did not help). I soldered a short wire around the connector to make sure the contact is now always in the closed position, no matter the switch. By the way: while on AC power the switch does nothing, so you can use the laptop with the bottom panel open just fine while on AC but not while on battery. This really does not make any sense. Very disappointed in Acer for building such a weak point into their product.

I was missing a screw right next to where the button was located. Replaced it with a spare and my troubles were over! Thank you so much

My Acer was not running on battery anymore and even plugged in, was automatically shutting down or Sleeping whenever moved. ​@@theinevitable8000 at the begining it seems to fix the random shuting down(afther the shuting down it was turning on normally). in my case afther few months the problem reappered and now it doesnt turn on without been pluged to the charger, as you say, it doesnt turn on by power key even pressing the key many times.

Thanks a lot Dev! Simple and to the point, and it worked instantly. I might add that taping down the button with electrical tape also works, just remember to release the button if you're going to be replacing/cleaning your RAM

What model is yours? I have an Acer Nitro 5; I acquired about 7 months ago, model AN515-52-71A4 from the year 2018 but I have never opened it and I don't know if it has that button that says I don't know if it cancels the warranty when removing the lid but it turns off after about 5 or 10 minutes the laptop...

same here in my Acer Aspire 5. Now solved also to verify, i tried to turn on pc while panel was open & it didn't. then i put some tiny tape on that button (latch button) &tried to turn pc on then it worked. so i think that latch is ment to prevent kind a short circuit while changing the RAM so it cut downs all kinda power supply to system when not pressed. Thanks bro !

i found this solution on an acer forum (i think) but arther few (3) monts the problem reappered. i had added few layers of tape and worked, now it shuts down despite a replace the layers of tape. any other solution or common problem?

@@DevAnsab It finally started opening again, it just takes a couple of seconds longer than it did in the past. I had to uninstall and reinstall a few times before it would open. Thanks for your help!

If you good at hardware then you can try opening it by yourself else try to see a technician 🙂

After adding paper, before fitting the cover the sponge was falling again and again. I some how managed to put it. But will it create a problem?

I added a tiny bit of super glue so the sponge would stick long enough for me to close the panel

@@rishiraj_dhar it's in the smaller one , where ram is and to find switch : On the panel there will be something with little sponge attached to it which presses the switch. So switch should be just below where the sponge is on the lid.

I bought this laptop 3 months ago, at the beginning when i plug in charger, i will hear small beep sound and orange light will show up. But now i cant hear that beep sound . Also when i use my laptop at 100%charge(plugged in) charge is reducing to 99% even i plugged in and light is changing to blue and orange quickly. How to fix this problem please help

3 months means that it is in warranty. Take it to the acer store do not try to open it by yourself. It is in warranty and they should not charge you for anything.
