Well, I'd make that bookshelf 13-wide instead of 14-wide... That way I wouldn't have 2 books left over... Sure, all the colors wouldn't really be there perfectly, but I don't think that matters if it's only meant to be representative of the door

Yep, I think shifting to 13 wide would be a solid way to present the puzzle. I debated between 13 and 14 wide, but ultimately decided on the 14 so that all 7 colors were represented (twice) on each row. But yeah, all-in-all, I don't think it matters either. Thank you for watching and... happy Friday! Cheers!

Aparently, not only is our 78th level wizard an expert at locking doors but he also is an expert at painting them :P Great puzzle and an excelent time to present it :) I loved the concept of the Everbloom Vase and I was not aware of the ROY G BIV for the colors of the Rainbow :O And yes...Unicorns and Rainbows...perfect fit Wally LOL I would probably present this puzzle with a little leprechaun called Roygbiv that would present the players with his pot of gold if they can open said door...Ofc the coins would be cursed and would be misfortune to the players but that would be another story LOL PS: I saw the little easter egg at the end...I loved it!

Thank you, my friend! It's funny, I seen an advertisement for a Rainbow Unicorn coffee yesterday that is supposed to taste a little bit like breakfast cereal and I immediately wanted a bowl of Lucky Charms, lol. Also, I did not know that you had never heard of ROYGBIV! Now that you have... looks like a great puzzle for St. Patrick's Day with the Leprechaun. Thanks again, my friend, for the continued support! Also... did you watch the old Batman series???

Looking for a super simple puzzle to add for a kids game. First time players... game is simple and has no puzzles, and I want a backup in case we get to the end very quickly. This will let me add a simple puzzle that could open the game up to more dungeons for the players if need be. Thanks!

I would consider during the Roy G Biv segment to avoid pulling the letters on the vase colors. Since they are represented by the other item. This would encourage investigation into the vases.

I've recently created a similar puzzle. There's a necklace with colored gemstones in a drawer (love the magic vase btw) and the books on the shelf have to be arranged in the same order as the gemstones, the colors match. So in a way, it's the exact opposite from yours, matching colors to get letters instead of matching letters. The first letters of the titles of the books then read the password. I think the fact that the books are also rainbow colored and the letters don't match up with the colors is confusing, but that might also be a red herring. In my puzzle what's confusing apparently, is to get the idea to read the first letters of the books, although I think tha's quite a standard thing to do when looking for passwords in an arrangement of books, and there are fairly obvious hints that "the" in the title doesn't count: One book is titled N... the other is The N... and another is T..., the books books with N have the same color, but the book with T is a different color than the one with The. And why can we trust that all N books have the same color despite the The? Becuause every E book has the same color as every other E book

I like your puzzle idea! I may have to use that myself someday. And, yep, I like that there is a slight bit of confusion with the books not matching the color. I like easy puzzle, but I also love that little seed of doubt, haha. Ya know, you've really brought up some interesting thoughts on the book colors and the use of of "The", "A" or "An", in titles. This really does set itself up for a puzzle as well. Great brainstorming here today, thank you!

@@WallyDM You're welcome! Just make sure there are hints that The, A and An don't count, like I did with the colors, otherwise it becomes unfair, quickly. Like, another hint is that I made the first letter different from the others after the The. It says The 𝕾carlet Letter

In my language it would be ROGGBIF. Wonder if ld need two books of every letter, or make it harder by having them pull out G twice before moving on. As for magic items l always talor them to the group. Or a immovable rod. Perhaps to foreshadow the next rainbowdoor that is only heldin place by an immovable rod, bookcase be damned.

  • @WallyDM

I was curious on whether or not this puzzle would work in a different language, so I'm glad you left a comment. I would recommend using those two extra books in the picture. You could have two "G"s and two of another letter, maybe an extra "E" or something? And, I love using the immovable rod to hold a door in place, in fact, you just gave me an amazing idea. Thank you!

Cool puzzle, like the clues as well. I might make it so the flower that is the key has a different amount of petals vs the other flowers in the vase, so it is possible to just pull that one out (that or make the different numbered petals a trap, if it is pulled out with the rest, nothing, if it is the only one pulled out, area of effect damage or poison, etc). Then make the stem be cut out uniquely so the flower is literally the key instead of a key being attached to it or something.
