Soloing Over Chord Changes on Guitar

Музыка

Patreon: / fretjam
Soloing over chord changes can seem a daunting task, especially if the changes are frequent and unconventional.
But we have to start somewhere. The key thing is to break it all down into the smallest practical steps possible. That's what I aim to help you do throughout this series of lessons. By the end of the series you should have a clear process in your mind for soloing over any sequence of chords that may be thrown at you.
In this lesson we learn about the two main types of chord change you're likely to solo over and the concept of note selection within a scale. We then move on to building simple phrases over 2 chords - C major and F major (the 1 and 4 chords of C major).

As a beginner to guitar soloing, I have watched tons and tons of videos, including those from world renowned players. All of the information and examples are so relevant and rich that it is going to take me a long time to assimilate so that this comes out in my playing, but the 'journey' will be a fun and rewarding one. I have been looking for this kind of information for a while, and am so glad that you are out there. Many thanks.

It's insane how music is so interconnected. In a lot of ways it's just like math and on the other hand it's an artistic web of possibilities. A little after 5:40 you explain how the sixth of the c major scale is the major third of the f major scale; well I've heard this kind of thing before, but every time I do hear it it blows my mind. It's all about relations. You are like free Berkeley! 😉
