Sad your friend is/was in the same situation I found myself in. I pray in the past months she has been able to change her situation. It is somewhat scary when you get older and consider this type of move. But I find it mentally & physically a better arrangement all the way around. Living with a family that didn't treat me very well. Some one I knew 36 yrs at this date. So I have moved, to another friends 10 yrs older than myself that needed some help with his home. I pay rent...but working harder and longer in a day than I would like being almost 63 and on disability. So I myself am looking at campers. May stay here on his land...but not in the home. It's time I had space and peace and quiet of my own. I will still be here in case anything happens as he lives alone..And to help out where and when I can. I am fortunately in the country.. but in Michigan, which means winters. But this last winter inside, it stayed just above freezing in my room. So I'm pretty sure I can manage a camper. Looking at a 29 ft camper now.. Your friend is lucky to have you looking out for her.

Yep ive worn mostly thrift cloths Ive remodeled all my life. I didnt tell many because i got comments like germs and stinky. Duh? I wash everything and most is washed when donated. And it doesnt go to landfill. Now its popular! But glad the boho hippie with a modern twist is back. I made skirts from tablecloths but I was an ocd sewer not a street type living. All qualified for office wearing. Made mini skirts in high school from Doris Day dresses with asking where I got them. Wish all that fabric available now. I now teach sewing in my smaller retirement town. Surprised not as many are coming. 2 men, one lady. Older. But I seek sell some things only locally. Much of my ideas have non seen touches for ability to use. Like a jean messenger bag, convertible to shoulder or strap with NO hardware needed. I only charge 10. Some say charge more. Ok the locals don’t have much money either and yeah they sell. All sold out. 40 jeans not in the landfill! Mostly I’m relating the judgements when it’s not popular I hid what I did.

I'm proud of Diane for going on the road and positively she will keep healing as she lives her life in nature. I know I'm writing this 3 years later but it would be good to hear how she is doing. What helped me survive was getting away from what was destroying me and I bought a small home at auction and I put myself into the makeover of it and the property. I'm still a caregiver for my Mom and hope one day I can also get out on the road and continue my healing. It certainly doesn't happen over night. Thanks Bob for all you do. Blessings, teri

I've put in my time...have worked steady for 50 years, 45 of them at one job plus second part time jobs to support myself and my horses etc. I want to enjoy life. I get a little more than double of what this lady gets from social security. I should be fine if I did this. I have a 75 Winnebago that's just rotting outside. Time to fix her up I think.

CheapRVliving i am so happy i found this video! what a sweet woman! thank her for sharing. thank you for asking her just the right questions. I hope to test the waters in about two weeks!!! I am breaking free of apartments and going to live in a camper. I am going to start in a campground, to ease into it and get to know the camper. but i very much want to quickly find a community of nomads, offgridders, a new family to help out, live with and heal with. I am so burned out, I am so much on the very edge,... and have been for so long. I need nature as far as my eyes can see. and I need other folks who understand that climbing on and over each other to win this rat race is no way to live. I really hope I find that soon, very soon... before I end up sitting in a corner blowing bubbles!!!! most days I want to sit and cry, but I don't think I would ever stop! so I just keep telling myself to hold on, I will be free and in a camper and in nature very soon. so many folks tell me I'm crazy for wanting that, but then I see a video like this.... and I know that I am more sane and searching for healing than any of them. thank you again!!!! big hugs to you and this beautiful sweet woman!!!!

I have a big travel trailer in a campground and spent the summer there and loved it (as did my pets). The problem is the winters here a brutal and no water or sewer during those months. What I would love to find is something where I could spend the cold months in a warmer climate boondocking. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, I have PTSD from being almost beaten to death by my husband, he throwed me out of moving cars , beat me so bad several times I couldn't see out of my eyes , stole my son , he told me he was going to kill me and almost did , the police kept letting him out . I grew up with an very abusive drunk mother , I was taken from place to place, I watched my own mother be beat until she was almost killed so many times , her eyes beat shut , black eyes , her ex husband actually sliced her thumb off and I took my baby brother and git help, I remember falling asleep in cars or in bars while my mother was drunk . I remember onetime my brother and I were left in the back of a car, they forgot us. I woke up it was still dark early morning , I took my little brother about 4 because I was about 7i found us help . I thanked god the day my mom actually gave us back to our daddy . I have lived a hard life, I dont know how j am still alive ? I have taken all my pain and been a nurse trying to make sure the last 33 years others do not suffer as I have . God bless I also love being out on nature sitting beside a nice creek or flowing river .

Hi Bob! I was coming to the RTR and asked you about renting a car! Remember? You answered and said not in Quartzsite! I did arrive from Key West, Florida on the last day of the RTR so missed the gathering and meeting you and others I follow. I also came to see the Big Tent and other vendors and succeeded in buying some things I was looking for. Rented a car in Blythe and on the day I returned it, I stopped at the Laundramat-Mall in Ehrenberg and by chance met Kampervan Kevin and Panda-Monium in the parking lot. All was not lost! I am 85 years old and have been on the road now since Jan 16th. I am so at peace with my life now. You are right about the healing that you receive with this lifestyle. I lived full-time but used my rv for business. This is my first time on the road just for me. I am feeiling the joy of being alone or meeting new friends. I am truly at peace and have found the happiness in living that I always dreamed of. You are so right Bob. My final years will be my best years!

Looking at a Winnie Brave for about $3,000. It is in fine condition, 454 engine about 35,000 miles, short 26' so maneuverable. Have a van I parked behind my house to see if I could live in there and tried it for a month and it was fine. I could do with much less and making my food in a small space, laundry, bathroom, etc. Plus I was much happier. Would have taken this plunge years ago but have a kid going to high school next year. He has even talked about wanting to do this which is interesting. You can't imagine how many people you are helping with your videos!!! Thank you. I have never been much of a worshiper of people autograph seeker. I think people are fairly all the same with different levels of jobs, but one of my goals in life is to maybe make your acquaintance. I never discuss with people what I do as a profession, I speak about my "contribution". So when I ask people I ask in that way. What's your "contribution". So a stay at home mom would be raising, molding and educating a member of our next generation, while a "contribution" from a corporate cubicle or officer person would most likely not be as dynamic although in our society that person in the corporate world would be called successful because of the car they drove or the house they lived in. What do you do does not equate with who you are and your value/worth. I have always been of the mind that I would rather make a difference than make money. The money comes when you make a difference in other's lives. You are one of the most successful people I have ever see based on that criteria. God Bless and continued success

Do it now! I found freedom from my responsibilities in 2014 and moved in my Rv to Florida near my daughter and son in law. This past January my son in law unbolted my awning arms from the patio and I hit the road to Quartzsite. I am still on the road and will not go back to Florida til April. I am 85 years old driving a 2000 Bounder 36s motorhome and loving it out here.

So Awesome!!! I love hearing these kinds of stories of older folks not letting age get in the way!!! As soon as I get a tow vehicle that can actually tow and I don't have to worry about frying the transmission...I am out of here! Well...this month I am working at selling stuff in my storage unit...THEN I am out of here :D
